He exhaled slowly and made his way into the room while mind-linking Maurice. "Get Drake to investigate James and keep an eye on him."
Though the situation seemed unnecessary on the surface, Adrian knew it would be foolish not to take precautions.
Too many strange things had happened recently, and James' sudden return only added to his growing suspicions.
Adrian could not shake the feeling that his appearance at this particular moment was not a coincidence.

He was just about to close the mind link when Maurice's voice broke through the connection.

Adrian paused momentarily. "What is it?"
"Malvin contacted James," Maurice reported.
The slight echo of the mind link seemed to still for several long seconds.
Maurice would have believed Adrian had disconnected if not for the faint vibration humming through their connection, indicating that he was still listening.
