Chapter 1 - The Day the Train Was Late

Lian sat in a small café near the train station, holding her cup of coffee with trembling hands.

The clock showed six in the evening, and the sky had turned a golden hue of sunset mingled with the crimson of twilight — as if trying to conceal an unspoken sorrow.

For two years, she had come to this same place, on the same day, at the same hour… waiting for Adam.

Adam — the one who had promised he would return after a year to complete their dream.

He had said to her on the day he left:

"If the train is late, don't worry.

I'll come back, no matter how long it takes —

for my heart knows no path but yours."

But the train was late… two whole years.

Chapter One:

Lian met Adam in the university library.

He was softly reading a poem by Nizar Qabbani, while she searched for a novel to read during the holidays.

He approached her with a smile and asked:

> "Do you believe that words can change a person's life?"

She laughed shyly and said:

> "I live because of words — how could I not believe?"

From that moment, everything between them began with a word and ended with a long silence filled with meaning.

He loved her in the simplest way — he didn't bring her flowers;

instead, he wrote lines for her on pages torn from his university notebook:

> "Lian, you are my fourth season —

when the year grows tired of waiting."
