I was immediately put down by the man who had carried me and I was stunned by what I saw.
I was not losing my mind when I thought his hair had looked different because it was not the green eyed man from the feast. This was another green eyed man.
There were two of them! Two of the exact men, and they were twins!
It then clicked immediately and I knew who they were. They were the most powerful Lycans, belonging to the pure bred Royal Lycan family. The two sons of the Lycan king. Kayden and Kane.
Kayden was the Alpha's heir even though he was the younger brother. He was the loyal son who had fought and won many battles for his father. While Kane was the older brother and prodigal son who tapped into magic even though it was banned.
His father had to banish him, but somehow he was able to find his mother's pack, kill the Alpha and became the new Alpha.
Kane's power and fame has grown since then. Some even say he's the only one who can match up to his brother whom had never lost a battle, he was his father's greatest enemy.
No one knew much about their mother, but there were rumors that the Lycan king had killed her because he didn't want his children to be weak.
Everyone knew of this story as long as you were a werewolf or a Lycan. Lycan stories were bed time stories.
How could I be fated to both men? How was that even possible? I couldn't even tell which man was which.
"I'd be careful if I were you" The man who was carrying me a few minutes back said. His tone was laced with defense and calculations, and so was his stance.
But Kane only smirked. "Oh, little brother, you are not thinking of fighting over a woman, are you? What happened to all your manners and rationality?" He taunted his brother with a knowing smirk and I could already see the hatred and anger on Kayden's face at being mocked by his own brother.
"I will fight you over my mate, Kane—"
"Don't you mean our mate?" Kane mocked as he came closer.
"I'm warning you." Kayden's tone revealed his ferocity. I wondered if this was a normal thing for them. "You know better than to tempt me. If claiming her is what it takes to keep her safe from you then I would do it over and over again."
"You can't claim what isn't yours alone, you dummy." Kane snickered.
"Why are you even here? And don't pull that mate card on me because we both know that you don't even believe in the mate bond and also, don't you have a witch sitting pretty, waiting for you at home? go back to her and I will take it up from here, at least the moon goddess knows I wouldn't ruin her life." Kayden spat, my wolf whimpered at his anger.
Kane burst into laughter at his brother's words. He laughed at him so loudly I wanted to cover my ears because it was painful to hear the sound of his laugh. It sounded strange like the cackling of vultures yet it was rich and full of life. It was nothing like I was used to, nothing like I had heard before.
"All righteous Kayden, you are such a child sometimes. You think you are such a perfect angel because you are the father's golden son, isn't it? Because he placed you on a pedestal, showing off his gullible trophy son to the world, suddenly you think you are better than me?"
"I am nothing like you—"
"There's not much difference between you and me, we share the same face, the same blood, the same mate and of course the same evilness. It's down there somewhere and I know sometimes you feel running through your veins, begging you to let it out!" Kane said pointing to his chest with an evil smile plastered across his face.
It was a staring contest between both men and I stood there afraid to say a word. I was so engrossed in hearing both men vent about each other because it gave me a little insight into their personalities that I forgot about the man I was running from. About the amount of trouble I would be in if I got caught. It all seemed like it was in the past now as the men in front of me had me locked.
I don't have time for this madness," Kayden growled, and pushed past Kane, roughly, but Kane pulled him back.
"You know how much I hate losing, especially to you and if you know me better like you have claimed in the past, then you should know that I wouldn't let her go," Kane spoke to Kayden in a serious tone, a warning tone, and Kayden looked at him with a surprised gaze.
I thought it was going to end there when Kane released his grip on Kayden's hand, allowing him to go again, but soon, we were surrounded by men.
Alpha Damian and his men, the men I was running away from.
"Alpha Damian, my brother was about returning your sex slave to you," Kane said smirking as he pointed at me and I was too shocked to move.
Kayden immediately stood in front of me protectively, as he glared at his brother, annoyed by the fact that Kane would dare to say something like that about me.
"You're out of line Kane, you know the rules."
"And by now you should know that I don't follow the rules," Kane replied smoothly with a dangerous smile and a wicked glint in his eyes. Kayden seemed to be thinking deeply about something as he clenched his fists tightly. Then I saw something flash behind his irises that scared me.
"Contrary to what my brother said, I am not here to return her to anyone because she is my mate and I'd fight you if I have to, Damian." Kayden answered calmly and took another step forward toward Alpha Damian. "Or better still, we can talk?"
Kane snickered, amused by his brother's actions. I could tell he thought his brother was a fool for negotiating with someone like Alpha Damian and he obviously didn't want any part of this.
Alpha Damian nodded instead, urging his men to put down the weapons they were holding. They obeyed and stood ready in case Kayden decided to act rashly.
"We really do need to talk because your mate just murdered my brother."
