Chapter 2 - Ch.2

On the way to the principal's office, Hayakawa Haku ran into some acquaintances.

"Good morning, Hayakawa-kun! The principal was just looking for you on the loudspeaker," a group of girls, walking together, greeted the handsome and well-built Hayakawa Haku. They then asked with giggles, "What did the principal want you for?"

"I'm not sure," Hayakawa Haku replied with a smile. "It's probably about my studies."

"No way! Hayakawa-kun, your grades are so good," one girl said with a laugh, staring at him intently, her gaze somewhat revealing.

"Not at all," Hayakawa Haku wore a 100% gentle smile. "I still need to keep trying hard."

In reality, he hadn't surpassed those two on the last monthly exam either. It looked like ten hours of studying a day wasn't enough; he'd have to increase it to twelve.

"Hayakawa-kun is so humble. You're so diligent even with such great grades."

"Bye, Hayakawa! Let's go to karaoke together sometime during the holidays."

The girls reluctantly left, and he could still hear them discussing him from far away. Hayakawa Haku bade them farewell with his signature smile, watching until they were out of sight.

"A bunch of idiots."

He articulated each word precisely.

Hayakawa-kun was a hypocrite, and constantly pretending to be gentle and kind to everyone was exhausting. Without looking back, he left the spot and continued toward the principal's office.

Honestly, high school students these days—boys and girls—couldn't their heads hold anything other than romance and dating? Couldn't they have just a little bit of something useful?

The meaning of life lies in defeating others again and again! That feeling of superiority from stepping on others... it's just so delightful!

Thinking this, Hayakawa Haku's face felt warm, an inexplicable blush creeping in.

The principal's office was now close at hand.

"Excuse me."

"... "

Hayakawa Haku looked at the two girls standing in the room and fell into a rare silence, his skin tightening as if facing a great enemy.

Opening the door led straight to hell.

Furuhashi Fumino? Ogata Rizu? Why are they here? Walking into the room and seeing the two biggest enemies in the entire academy was unpleasant, extremely unpleasant.

"Ah, Hayakawa-kun, you're here." The middle-aged, bearded principal sat in his chair, smiling. "Please take a seat. I have something I need to discuss with you."

"...Of course, Principal."

Hayakawa Haku managed to restrain himself from looking at the two girls and took a seat opposite the principal.

"I've looked at your exam records since you enrolled," the principal said, holding a paper. "Hayakawa-kun, your grades are truly outstanding. Whether in the arts or science track, you are at the top of the class. Aside from Furuhashi-kun and Ogata-kun, your combined score in both subjects is the best in the first year."

Hayakawa Haku offered a smile, a vein throbbing in his forehead.

Is he looking for a fight?

"If we count the total score for both subjects, you are undoubtedly the most outstanding student in the first year," the principal said with both praise and encouragement. "And your athletic talent and character are excellent. You are a role model for Ichinose Academy students. We are fortunate to have a student like you."

"You flatter me, Principal." Hayakawa's expression was incredibly humble.

I love hearing that. I am the best.

"Now then, the school needs some help with something." The principal looked at Hayakawa Haku, speaking earnestly.

"Tell me." Hayakawa Haku politely responded, careful not to agree directly.

"You should know these two," the principal said, gesturing to Furuhashi and Ogata. "I don't need to introduce them, do I?"

"I know them." Hayakawa Haku calmly glanced at the two girls. "Furuhashi-kun and Ogata-kun are both excellent students at Ichinose Academy, and they are the motivation for my progress."

That's right, motivation for progress. I can't stop running off to practice problems every time I see their report cards.

"Yes, these two have encountered difficulties in their studies and need an excellent student to tutor them," the principal looked at Hayakawa Haku pleadingly. "After reviewing the entire grade, you are unquestionably the most suitable person."

"Tutor them?" Hayakawa Haku's composed expression shifted subtly. "Principal, I don't think anyone in our school is capable of tutoring these two."

"Well... that will be up to you three to discuss," the principal looked slightly embarrassed, then changed the subject. "But rest assured, Hayakawa-kun, if you can help these two improve their scores, Ichinose Academy will do its best to secure you a recommendation spot for a top university."

A recommendation spot? What do I need that for? Hayakawa Haku scoffed internally. I'll earn my place at the university I want myself. Why would I need someone else's recommendation?

However, he couldn't refuse outright, as that would contradict his persona as a helpful, great Samaritan.

I'll talk to them for a bit, then find an excuse to decline. I don't want to look at their faces every day; it'll ruin my dōshin.

"I understand," Hayakawa Haku thought, feeling a little weary. He then turned to the two girls, who were sitting rigidly beside each other, and smiled. "Ladies, shall we chat?"

The two girls, facing the terrifying shadow cast by the Great Demon King Hayakawa, nervously nodded.

In a conference room next to the principal's office, Hayakawa Haku sat at the head of the table, while the two girls sat side-by-side on his left, watching him anxiously.

"The principal asked me to teach you two," Hayakawa Haku said with a smile. "But I really don't think I have the ability to teach either of you, ahahaha~ haha~ ha!"

As he spoke, Hayakawa Haku was smiling, a bright and sunny grin, yet his eyes uncontrollably revealed a frightening coldness. Furuhashi, who was adept at picking up on others' emotions, instantly noticed it.

Terrifying!

Furuhashi Fumino instinctively shrank her neck, her soft waist pressing against the back of the chair as if seeking security. The girls in class said Hayakawa-kun from Class 1-B was gentle and very popular, but where is the gentleness? He's super scary; his eyes look like he wants to eat people.

I'm not good at dealing with such aggressive boys.

Furuhashi Fumino was on the verge of tears, shrinking in her seat, not daring to utter a word.

"Hayakawa-kun," compared to the sensitive literary girl Furuhashi, Ogata Rizu was clearly more oblivious. She said directly, "I hope you can teach me about the arts track subjects."

"Oh, arts track subjects." Hayakawa Haku watched Ogata Rizu nod earnestly, not having fully registered what she said.

Her chest is large.

Ogata Rizu is only 143 cm tall, and her chest is already big. Looking down at her from above, Hayakawa Haku saw that it looked even larger.

Oh, wow~ What an incredible ch... wait?

Arts track?

"You want to study arts?" Hayakawa Haku snapped back to attention, staring at her in confusion.

"Yes."

Receiving Ogata Rizu's confirmation, Hayakawa Haku turned to Furuhashi Fumino. "Then, does that mean you want to study science?"

"Y-yes." Furuhashi Fumino nodded timidly.

Hayakawa Haku: "..."

After a brief silence, Hayakawa Haku looked up and took a deep breath.

Time to pop the champagne.
