Nappa held a white sphere of light above his palm. He couldn't clearly see the battle high above, but he could hear Frieza's agonized screams. The scene had completely stunned him.
And yet...
Even though Frieza was being overwhelmingly beaten down by Son Goku, Vegeta showed no reaction at all.
His eyes remained vacant, his expression dull and lifeless.
"Vegeta, what's wrong with you?"
Raditz frowned and shook him repeatedly.
"Gran... has abandoned the Saiyan race."
Vegeta forced out a bitter laugh despite the pain ravaging his body.
"What do you mean?"
Raditz and Nappa immediately frowned and demanded an explanation.
With a helpless sigh, Vegeta recounted his entire conversation with Frieza.
"What?! That's impossible!"
Nappa's eyes widened.
Ever since surviving in deep space years ago, they had known that Frieza was forced to obey the orders of a God of Destruction.
But now Gran had supposedly revoked that protection.
That meant that if they failed to kill Frieza here, the Saiyans would once again be reduced to fugitives, hunted throughout the universe.
"Gran is a Saiyan too! Why would he do something like this?"
Nappa's face was filled with despair.
"Shut up, both of you!"
Suddenly, Raditz roared.
