===============================

Sun Jing was out on a casual walk through Kuoh Town, her hands stuffed into her hoodie pockets.

She wore a long white-and-red sweatshirt with a hood, white sleeves, black pants, and white shoes.

She wasn't exactly sure why she was walking around, but after everything that happened last night, staying in the mansion felt suffocating.

Eventually, she spotted Issei and Asia.

Sun Jing casually walked up like she owned the place.

"Sup," she greeted.

Issei's head snapped toward her instantly.

"NOW WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?! MISS MIA!" he yelled.

Sun Jing stared at him like he'd just grown a second head.

"…Huh?" She pointed at herself.

"I went home last night, remember?"

Issei's eye twitched. "You just left! Like you didn't care at all!"

Sun Jing shrugged, completely unbothered, before glancing at Asia.

"Hey, Asia. You okay?"

Asia looked a little tired, but she still gave Sun Jing a gentle smile. "I'm doing fine…"

"Don't change the subject!" Issei snapped.

He stood up and started ranting, waving his arms dramatically like he was trying to put on a stage performance.

"After we killed that freaky centaur demon thing, you left. And Rias had to deal with the clean-up, so she made me take one of Koneko's contracts since she was busy!"

Sun Jing's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Koneko has contracts?"

"YES!" Issei shouted. "And it was supposed to be easy!"

He clenched his fists.

"But when I got there… there was this guy. A stray exorcist. His name was Freed Sellzen. And he—he killed the person I was supposed to make a contract with!"

Asia flinched slightly at the name.

Issei continued, his voice growing more frustrated. "Rias and the others saved me… but in the middle of it all…"

He hesitated. "…we had to leave Asia behind."

"So… all that happened last night?"

"Uh, yeah!" Issei said quickly.

Sun Jing turned fully toward Asia and gently grabbed both of her hands. "You sure you're alright?"

Asia opened her mouth to answer but before she could speak… Her stomach growled loudly enough that even a kid on the swings turned to look.

Asia froze instantly, her cheeks turning bright red. "…Ah."

Sun Jing stared at her.

Then she stared at Issei, then back to Asia. And without hesitation, she stood up.

"Alright," she said casually. "We're getting food."

"Huh?" Issei blinked. "Wait—"

"No arguments," Sun Jing said. "I'm paying."

Asia's eyes widened. "Oh no, you don't have to—"

"I said I'm paying," Sun Jing repeated, already walking. "Come on."

Issei hesitated for a second, then hurried after her. "…Man, you're kinda bossy."

{A short while later…}

The three of them were sitting inside a burger place.

Sun Jing had ordered like she was feeding a family of six.

Burgers, Fries, Chicken nuggets, Onion rings, And three milkshakes. The table looked ridiculously stacked with all that food.

Issei stared at the mountain of food. "…Wow," he muttered. "This is a lot."

Asia looked even more nervous than Issei, her hands resting on her lap.

"Are you sure this is okay…? I don't want you to waste your money on me…"

Sun Jing leaned back in her seat, sipping her chocolate milkshake through the straw. "Don't worry about it," she said. "Eat as much as you want."

Asia hesitated then slowly picked up a burger. The moment she took a bite, her eyes lit up. "Mmm…!"

Issei smiled at Asia. "Right?! Burgers are awesome!"

Asia nodded enthusiastically while chewing, looking like she'd just discovered heaven.

Issei suddenly scratched the back of his head again. "…Hey."

Sun Jing glanced at him. "What?"

Issei looked away.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier."

Sun Jing blinked, surprised.

Issei continued quickly, like he didn't want to lose the nerve.

"I had no right to. I was just… stressed out."

Sun Jing stared at him for a second.

Then shrugged. "It's cool."

She took another sip of her milkshake. "Maybe I should just give you both my phone number or something."

Issei looked up. "…Huh?"

"Just in case you get into trouble again."

Issei frowned. "…Are you calling me weak?"

"Yes," Sun Jing said bluntly.

"Now hurry up and eat," she said, gesturing at the food. "It'll be a waste of my money if you don't."

"Okay!" Issei said, immediately grabbing fries like his life depended on it.

Asia took another bite of her burger, still amazed.

"I've never eaten anything like this before…"

Sun Jing tilted her head. "Europe doesn't have burgers?"

Asia quickly shook her head.

"No, no, we do… but…" her voice softened. "Us nuns really didn't ever get to eat things like this at the church I was raised in…"

After they finished eating, Sun Jing paid the bill without hesitation, the three of them wandered around town for a while, until Issei insisted on taking them to an arcade.

The moment they walked in, Issei's eyes practically sparkled.

"This is it… the battlefield of men!"

Sun Jing deadpanned. "…It's an arcade."

Asia smiled, watching Issei rush over to a claw machine like his life depended on it.

Inside was a big stuffed animal round, fluffy, and cute enough that even Sun Jing had to admit it was kind of adorable.

Issei shoved coins into the machine with confidence. "I got this."

He grabbed the joystick, narrowed his eyes, and carefully positioned the claw.

The claw dropped.

It grabbed the plush.

It lifted it…

…and then dropped it immediately.

Issei froze.

"…No."

He tried again.

And again.

And again.

Each attempt ended in failure.

After his last coin disappeared into the machine, Issei stood there in silence, shoulders slumped.

Sun Jing stared at the machine.

"…That thing is rigged."

Issei turned toward Asia, looking genuinely disappointed.

"Sorry… I couldn't win that for you."

Asia blinked, then smiled brightly and waved her hands.

"It's perfectly fine!" she said warmly. "You tried your best, and that's all that matters!"

Issei's face turned slightly red. "You're so nice…"

Sun Jing watched Asia for a moment, noticing the way her eyes drifted back toward the claw machine.

After leaving the arcade, the three of them ended up walking toward a quiet area near a pond, they sat down on a bench.

Issei leaned forward, elbows on his knees.

Asia sat with her hands folded neatly in her lap, her posture polite as always.

Sun Jing sat back casually, hood up, arms crossed.

The sound of water rippling filled the silence.

Sun Jing glanced at Asia.

"It looked like you really wanted it though," she said. "I can go back and win it for you."

Asia's eyes widened immediately.

"No! It's okay, really!" she said quickly. "Just spending the day with you two is enough."

Sun Jing stared at her for a second.

"…Give me a sec."

"Huh?" Issei blinked.

Before either of them could ask what she meant, a puff of thick smoke exploded around the bench.

Asia coughed and Issei coughed harder.

"DUDE WHAT THE HELL—?!" Issei shouted, waving his hands around.

"Relax," Sun Jing's voice echoed through the smoke. "It'll go away in a second."

The smoke slowly cleared but Sun Jing was gone. Instead, sitting right where she had been, was a small fox.

A small, fluffy fox with strawberry-red fur covering most of her body, with white fur along her underside and the tip of her tail. Around her neck was a collar with a tiny crystal pendant.

Her eyes were closed like she was taking a nap.

"…E-EH?!?!" they both blurted out.

Issei stood up so fast the bench creaked. "WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GO?! AND WHAT'S WITH THIS PINK FOX?!"

The fox hopped up and jumped directly onto Asia's lap.

"You idiot," the fox snapped. "It's me, Sun Jing. Isn't it obvious?"

Issei stared at her like his brain had stopped working.

"O-oh… right…"

He slowly sat back down, still staring.

"I didn't know you could transform like that…"

Sun Jing flicked her tail smugly.

"I'm part fairy," she explained. "Fairies can transform into different things. I learned that from Rias."

Asia's face lit up like she'd just been handed a miracle.

"Wow…!" she whispered, gently petting Sun Jing's head. "Your fur is so soft!"

She hugged the small fox without hesitation.

Sun Jing stiffened slightly, clearly not used to affection.

"…Enjoy it while you can," she muttered. "I'm only doing this because you looked sad."

Asia's hands slid down and brushed Sun Jing's fluffy tail.

Sun Jing's ears flattened. "Please don't touch that."

Asia immediately pulled her hand back.

"Oh! Sorry!"

Issei stared at the whole scene with pure jealousy. "Hey… can I—"

Sun Jing slowly turned her fox head toward him. "…No."

Issei flinched.

"…Why not?!"

"You're not allowed to pet me," Sun Jing said bluntly.

Issei slammed his hands on his knees. "Awh! No fair!!"

Raynare, the Fallen Angel who had earlier disguised herself as "Yuuma" suddenly appeared from the open blue sky above.

Her black wings spread wide as she descended like a predator, landing lightly on the surface of the pond as if the water itself were solid ground.

"Asia… there you are," Raynare said. "So this is where you ran off to."

Issei's expression instantly darkened. "Yuuma… no. Raynare."

He stood up, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.

Asia's body stiffened seeing the woman. "Lady Raynare…" she whispered.

The small fox that had been resting in Asia's lap leapt down onto the ground.

In an instant, smoke puffed around it and Sun Jing's human form reappeared, standing calmly with her hands tucked into her hoodie pockets.

Her gaze locked onto Raynare without a hint of fear.

"…Would you look at that," Sun Jing muttered. "We meet again, bird woman."

Raynare's lips curled.

"You…" she hissed. "I have a score to settle with you, fairy girl."

Sun Jing tilted her head slightly, unimpressed.

"I see your wings are back to normal," she said lazily. "Maybe I'll tear them off this time instead of just sending you flying."

Raynare's eyes narrowed with irritation.

"You know… I wonder if you really are related to the fairy clan," Raynare taunted. "Where are your wings? Can you even fly?"

Sun Jing's expression didn't change. Instead, she let out a quiet sigh.

"No need to bully me, you old hag."

With a flick of her wrist, Sun Jing pulled her Fairy Bow from her inventory. She lifted it, aiming it toward Raynare without hesitation.

"I'm just a late bloomer, is all."
