Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Emma's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she asked, "Do you ever miss out on family occasions or gatherings? I mean, with your busy schedule and all?"

Jayden's face lit up with a warm smile. "No, I make it a point to be there for my family, no matter what. Even if I have to take a flight to be present for a birthday, I'd do just that. Family is important to me, and I wouldn't miss out on special moments for the world."

Emma's expression turned impressed. "That's really sweet of you," she said, her voice filled with admiration. "I'm sure your family appreciates it."

Jayden nodded, his eyes shining with sincerity. "Yeah, they do. And even when I'm not physically present, I never forget to send gifts home and stuff like that. I make sure to stay connected with them, no matter where I am in the world."

He paused, a fond memory crossing his mind. "Like, last year, Josephine's birthday fell on a day when I had a game scheduled. But I couldn't miss it, so I flew in the night before, attended her birthday party, and then flew back out the next morning for the game. It was crazy, but it was worth it to see the smile on her face."

Emma's eyes melted at the thought, and she reached out to touch Jayden's arm. "That's so amazing," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "You're an incredible brother and son."

Jayden blushed, as a small smile played on his lips. "It's just what family is all about, you know? Being there for each other, no matter what"

"Tell me about your own family," Jayden said, his eyes curious as he leaned back into the couch.

Emma smiled, a hint of wistfulness in her voice. "Well, I'm an only child, so there's really nothing too exciting going on with me," she said, her shoulders shrugging slightly.

Jayden's eyes sparkled with interest. "That's cool," he said, his voice encouraging.

Emma continued, "And then, there's Mandy and we've been friends since crèche. We've been inseparable ever since."

Jayden's eyebrows rose in surprise. "That's amazing," he said, his voice filled with excitement. "I've never had a friend that I've known for that long."

Emma smiled, a fond look on her face. "Awwwww... That's sad. Well... she's an only child too, so we had that in common from the start."

Jayden nodded, his eyes never leaving hers. "That's really cool," he said, his voice sincere.

Emma nodded, her smile growing wider. "Anyway, my dad works in a tech company, and my mom is his assistant. They're really great people tho"

Jayden's eyes lit up with interest. "That's really cool," he said, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "What does your dad do, exactly?"

Emma thought for a moment before responding, "He's a software engineer, I think. He's always talking about coding and programming, but to be honest, I don't really understand what he does." She laughed, a playful glint in her eye. "But he's really good at it, and he loves his job, so that's all that matters."

Jayden's eyes dropped to his phone screen, and his expression turned apologetic. "I'm so sorry, Emma, but I have to leave already," he said, his voice regretful.

Emma's face fell, and she looked disappointed. "Oh, okay!"

Jayden reached out and took her hand, his eyes locking onto hers. "I would have loved to continue our conversation, but I really have to go," he said, his voice sincere. "There's nothing I can do about it at this point."

Emma nodded, trying to hide her disappointment. But Jayden could see the sadness in her eyes, and he felt unhappy about it.

However, he quickly replaced that guilt with a promise. "But don't worry, we'll spend the next weekend together, okay?" he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

Emma's eyes widened in surprise, and she looked at him with a mixture of curiosity and anticipation. "Really?" she asked, her voice filled with hope.

Jayden nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "Yeah, really. And we could spend it at my place," he said, his eyes never leaving hers.

Emma's eyes locked onto his, and she looked at him as if she didn't expect him to say that. But then, a slow smile spread across her face, and she nodded. "Okay," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Jayden grinned, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. "I'd show you around my not-so-small palace," he said, his voice filled with pride. "You're gonna love it there."

Emma's smile grew wider, and she looked at him with a sense of excitement and curiosity. "I'm sure I would," she said, her voice filled with anticipation.

As he stood up to leave, he placed a light kiss on Emma's lips and then engulfed her in a hug.

"I'd see you on Saturday," he said whispering in her ears

"Brr, it's just Wednesday today and I'd see you on the pitch the rest of the week, but yeah, sure, see you Saturday," she told him.

"Don't call me brrr," He said.

"Everrrrr." He told her again, with a stern look on

"Chill out, man," she told him just fair she was freaked out by his facial expression.

"And that too," he told her as he pinched her nose. "Sure, man," she said, trying hard not to laugh, but he wasn't having it.

"Okay, fine... What do I call you then?" she asked.

"Call me your man," he said.

"Brrr, I just said man," she said, realizing she said brrr again.

He looked at her, holding his smile, and she realized he was just messing with her.

"I'd see you," he said as he painted another kiss on her lips and wore his dark shades, fixing the cap of his hood.
