Chapter 7 – A Child Between Monsters

The atmosphere inside Kye's house felt heavy.

Not because of the weather alone—but because of the conversation taking place within those walls. Dark clouds pressed against the sky outside, as if the world itself was holding its breath.

Kye stood near the table.

Arisa sat beside him, restless.

And across from them sat a child—quiet, expressionless.

Luca.

Kye broke the silence.

"So… your name is Luca, right?"

Luca looked up slowly. His face remained calm—too calm for a child his age.

"Sir," he said coldly, "I still don't understand what you want from me."

Arisa's fingers tightened.

Kye leaned forward slightly. "You're the center of our plan. I'm sure you already know about the child kidnappings, don't you?"

Luca nodded once. "Yes. The head and workers at the orphanage talk about it often."

Arisa couldn't hold back anymore.

"Kye… I'm still not sure about this. Luca is our responsibility."

Kye turned his head slightly. "Listen to me first."

"Kye—are you ignoring me?" Arisa snapped.

"Arisa," he said firmly, "I need you to stay calm."

He turned back to Luca.

"All you need to do is sit quietly on that street. Don't run. Don't scream. Nothing else."

Luca stared at him.

"And what do I get in return?" he asked bluntly.

For the first time, Kye smiled—a wide, unsettling smile.

"I'll give you something," Kye said softly, "that you've wanted for a very long time."

Luca didn't ask what it was.

Scene Shift

The same empty street from before.

The night swallowed everything whole.

A white van slowed down.

Two men stepped out—both dressed in white suits.

One of them narrowed his eyes as he looked at Luca.

"This kid feels suspicious."

The second man shrugged. "We're here to do our job. Don't overthink it—or the boss won't be happy."

The first man grabbed Luca by the arm and shoved him inside the van.

"Sit quietly," he warned. "Don't try anything."

Luca didn't resist.

He didn't speak.

He didn't even blink.

Scene Shift

The roar of a motorcycle cut through the silence.

Kye and Arisa were chasing the van, headlights slicing through the darkness.

Arisa shouted over the wind, "Kye! Where did you even get this bike?!"

"This isn't important right now," Kye replied coldly.

After a brief pause, he added, "It belongs to a friend. Kyle."

He leaned forward, gripping the handles tighter.

"I borrowed it."

The van sped ahead.

And the hunt had officially begun.

The van slowed down near a massive iron gate.

Ahead stood a crumbling structure—once a school, now long abandoned. Dense trees surrounded the building, their twisted branches swallowing the place in shadow. No lights. No sound. Just silence thick enough to choke on.

Kye broke the silence, urgency sharp in his voice.

"Arisa, hurry. We don't have time. We have to deal with them before they get inside."

Before she could respond, Kye sprinted forward.

The two men in white suits noticed movement—but too late.

Kye leapt forward, his knee twisting mid-air, and slammed his foot straight into the first man's face. Bone cracked. The man collapsed before he even understood what hit him.

In the same breath, Kye pivoted and drove a brutal punch into the second man's jaw—an explosive impact that sent him crashing into the ground.

Dust erupted around them.

Arisa ran toward Kye—and froze.

Both men were unconscious. And naked.

Her eyes widened.

"Kye! What the hell are you doing?!"

"Don't scream," Kye said sharply. "No time. Put these on."

He tossed their clothes toward her.

Arisa stared at them. "These are men's clothes!"

Kye shot her an irritated look.

"Do you want me to start stitching outfits now? Hurry. This van is our only way inside."

She hesitated. "How do you even know that?"

Kye smiled faintly.

The world flickered—

A brief memory surfaced.

Him, standing in the rain near the museum.

A child screaming.

A van disappearing into the night.

"I came back to the museum that day," Kye said quietly. "Right in front of my eyes, another child was taken."

Arisa stiffened.

"I didn't stop them," he continued. "I followed instead. I was gathering intel."

His fists clenched.

"I know it was wrong. But I'll make up for it. Every bit."

They got into the van and drove through the gate.

Inside, the school felt hollow. Classrooms reduced to ruins. Broken windows. Walls eaten by time. It was abandoned—too abandoned.

Kye scanned the surroundings.

"There are hidden cameras here," he muttered. "But this isn't their main base."

Arisa frowned. "Then why are we just standing here?"

Kye stepped forward.

"Because their real base is underground."

He raised his fist.

"And I'm about to destroy it."

Before Arisa could react, Kye slammed his fist into the wooden floor.

The impact was monstrous.

The ground shattered violently, splintering apart as if it were paper. The floor collapsed inward, revealing darkness below.

Arisa stumbled back, shock written all over her face.

"Kye… your strength—"

"No time," he cut her off. "They already know we're here. I don't have time to search for secret routes."

Without hesitation, Kye jumped down.

Arisa swallowed hard—and followed.

They landed inside the basement.

The air changed instantly.

Cold. Metallic.

The walls were no longer stone or wood—but solid steel. Reinforced panels stretched endlessly, glowing faintly under dim artificial lights.

This place didn't feel like part of the school.

It felt like a different world.

And somewhere in that metal labyrinth—

Children were waiting.

The metallic corridor echoed softly with their footsteps.

Cold steel walls, exposed screws, and dim white lights made the underground base feel lifeless.

Kye had already taken down several guards silently.

Suddenly—

A voice echoed through the corridor.

Calm. Controlled. Strategic.

"So, Mr. Kye… you really made it this far. I expected nothing less."

Kye stopped.

His eyes slowly scanned the walls.

Between the metal panels—

hidden cameras.

Microphones.

"Huh?" Kye spoke coldly.

"So you know my name too? Interesting. I didn't expect you to be this capable."

The voice replied, amused.

"You can call me Morrow. I've been bored for a very long time."

A faint chuckle followed.

"So I thought… why not let you come? I was looking for someone worth killing."

A pause.

"If you manage to reach the main room alive, I might meet you myself. Don't disappoint me, Kye Kurasaki… or should I say—half monster."

Kye's expression went completely blank.

He turned slightly toward Arisa.

"It's better if you stay here," he said calmly.

"What's ahead is dangerous."

Arisa hesitated.

"But Kye… will you be okay alone?"

Kye replied without looking back.

"I won't die until I fulfill the promise I made to you."

He took a step forward.

"Stay here. Don't move."

The moment his words ended, Kye dashed ahead.

Four to five men blocked his path—

swords, axes, knives gleaming under the lights.

Kye scoffed.

"Hmph… using weapons already? Pathetic."

"Come."

They charged at him.

Kye picked up a small stone from the floor and flicked it forward.

CRACK.

The stone tore through one man's skull.

The impact bent the metal wall behind him inward.

The others rushed him at once.

Kye moved in sharp, zig-zag motions.

One clean movement—

The blade in his hand passed straight through a man's neck.

Before the body even fell—

A knife stabbed into Kye's back.

A sharp sting shot through his body.

His breath hitched for a split second.

"…Tch."

That was all.

Kye didn't stop.

With a single, fluid slash—

Three heads separated at once.

Blood sprayed across the metal floor.

Bodies collapsed one after another.

Kye reached behind, pulled the knife out of his back, and let it fall.

Blood dripped down slowly.

He picked up a sword from the ground—

and continued walking forward.

Unstopped.

Unshakend.

Scene Shifts towards – Morrow's POV

A dim chamber.

Shadows stretch across metal walls.

Morrow's full face is still hidden—only his voice reaches the room.

His gaze is fixed on the child.

"Interesting…"

"You're different, child."

"There's no emotion inside you. Not fear. Not hope."

A faint smile forms in the darkness.

"What a miserable fate you have," Morrow continues calmly.

"Tonight, you'll die here with your so-called master."

"He used you. Nothing more."

"Poor, unfortunate child."

Luca replies without hesitation—his voice cold, empty.

"It doesn't matter to me."

"I don't have anyone in this world anyway."

"If I die… who would even care?"

Suddenly a flashback appeared from Luca's sake of mind

Luca's voice continues, as if trying to tell a story—

"I was never loved."

"The moment I was born, my father filed for divorce. He ran away with another woman."

"I was six years old."

"That day… something happened that completely changed my life."

"My mother hated me from the start."

"She beat me for everything."

"Because of my depressed face, the kids in the colony bullied me every day."

"Eventually… I got used to it."

"I only had one question."

"If I was never born…

would my parents still be together?"

"That day, my mother was standing on the terrace."

"I only wanted to ask her one thing—

What was my mistake?"

"Before I could finish my sentence—"

"She slapped me."

"She was crying.

I don't know why."

"Then suddenly…"

"Something strange awakened inside me."

"I couldn't hear anything."

"I couldn't understand anything."

"I just—" " I just... "

"I pushed her."

Silence.

"I didn't even realize what I had done."

"The police let me go because I was a child."

"They said it was an accident."

"After that… I was sent to an orphanage."

"No relative accepted me."

"And for the past three years…"

"I've been stuck in that moment."

Back to Present

The flashback fades.

Luca's body goes limp.

His eyes slowly close.

He collapses—

unconscious.

The room falls silent.

Only Morrow's presence remains in the shadows.

...

Kye was in a terrible state.

Blood soaked the shattered floor beneath him.

His breathing was heavy, uneven.

"F*ck you…"

"You really attacked me from behind?"

"Pathetic insects."

There were eight to ten of them—

all experts, using the environment flawlessly.

Chains wrapped tightly around Kye's body, digging into his flesh.

The pressure was immense.

The ground beneath him cracked.

Blood pooled everywhere.

His vision began to blur.

His eyes slowly started to close.

Then—

Suddenly.

Unknown Phenomenon

The perspective shifts.

We see the entire hall where Kye and the executives were gathered.

In an instant—

BOOM.

The entire chamber explodes.

Walls collapse.

Metal shreds tear through the air.

The structure is completely annihilated.

When the dust settles—

Everyone is dead.

Everyone.

Except one monster.

Kye.

His body is brutally damaged.

Blood drips from his mouth as he coughs violently.

Even he doesn't understand what just happened.

A strange distortion…

Electrical sparks…

Short circuits—

And then the blast.

Kye struggles to stand.

"Kye!"

"Are you okay?!"

Arisa rushes toward him, shaken.

"What did you do to yourself?"

"And that explosion—what was that?!"

Kye wipes the blood from his lips.

"I don't know…"

"I honestly don't."

"But this isn't the time to think."

He looks straight ahead.

"The main gate is right there."

"I'm coming for you, Morrow."

A voice echoes through the ruins.

"So… you made it this far?"

"Impressive, Kye."

"But tell me—

can you really save all of them?"

Morrow's laughter fills the base.

"Come."

"I've been waiting for you."

Elsewhere – Surface Level

The scene abruptly shifts.

At the entrance of the abandoned school, a tall man—almost 6'4"—approaches the hidden base.

An unknown figure.

"Tch…"

"I knew that man was useless."

"Looks like I had to come myself."

"This is getting annoying."

"Today… this game ends."

Another Location – Power Above Power

The scene shifts again.

A luxurious room.

A businessman stands before the President.

"So," the President asks calmly,

"Is the work finished?"

The businessman bows slightly.

"Yes, Mr. President."

"The task is already complete."

"And the interesting part…"

"We've discovered some very special individuals."

"This situation is getting… entertaining."

The President smiles faintly.

"That's exactly what I expected from you."

"Excellent."

"Now, there won't be much delay in executing our plan."
