Alexis knew he needed to answer correctly, or something would be bound to happen. He could feel the palpable change in the atmosphere surrounding them. Even Leisandra couldn't help but clench her fist, despite knowing she wouldn't be able to do anything if Eluminon ever decided to eliminate the two of them.
Steeling himself, Alexis' eyes changed. "You're right about one thing. I want to cause chaos."
Boom!
Once more, the atmosphere became stiffer. More suffocating. Veins started to appear on Alexis' temples. Leisandra fell to the ground, prostrating, not being able to do anything. Despite that, Alexis didn't falter.
"But peace? With what I am seeing? Habascus has never known peace under the influence of the humans that your race has left here. With the infighting, scheming, kidnappings, forced marriages, sacrifices? Don't get me started about kidnappings, that's the reason I'm even doing this!" Alexis scoffed, with strained breath and voice.
"I want to cause chaos because I want to destroy the rotting system that has permeated this land. I want it to be ridden off of scornful tyrants who knew nothing but to oppress people just because they picked the right spot to camp. I want to cause chaos because I want to create order." Throughout all this, Alexis' eyes never left Eluminon's gaze.
Unassailable.
Undefiable.
"Chaos renews. Chaos breeds new opportunities. Chaos sews Order." Hearing this, Eluminon grew a satisfied, almost demonic, smile.
Inevitable.
"Haha…" Eluminon quietly laugh. Slowly, it grew louder and louder, "HAHAHAHAHA!" A deafening laugh echoed throughout the cottage, even beyond it.
"Great. Great!" Eluminon boomed, "Your answer reminds me of the humans that we respected. Those eyes that radiate the tenacity of the dragons, that posture that pushes up just to imitate the figure of the Tree of The Great Heavens! It's the same as that man back then."
Alexis was still confused when the great elf suddenly changed and the pressure was suddenly lifted, but the former continued, "Very well! I am now very VERY interested in where Vinya will be going. It seems that my stay here will be extended for a little bit longer." Eluminon grinned.
"Hear me, Alexis Vinyarion!" The composed elf from before finally came back, with dignity and poise befitting of an elf, not like the monstrosity that manifested earlier. Alexis did hear him, so the man, together with the wife, straightened their backs. "In accordance with the laws of the Elves, and by the gods before me, with the principle blessing of the Goddess of Arcina, I adorn you!"
"Alexis, ruler of Vinya, Representative of the Goddess of Arcina, the Elvenkin recognizes Vinyarion, of new beginnings, as the name of your lineage. Use it befittingly, let it not be sullied by the darkness of the mortal soul."
Bowing, Alexis replied, "Thank you for the trust, Lord Eluminon, I will not fail it." With his response, Eluminon laughed, "I am not worried about that, Lord Vinyarion. We will know." Though Alexis was confused, he does not know the intricacies of the Elven Race.
After that, the two once again greeted each other before going their separate ways. According to Eluminon, he will be looking for a spot to reside near Vinya since, as an elf, it wouldn't make sense if he lived directly in the midst of humanity.
As for Alexis, he began preparing for the establishment of the new religious military force in Habascus.
When he walked out of the cottage, what met him was a group of more or less eighty people. Karsi, the man leading the group, was one of the refugees that first served as Vinya's settlers. "Your Eminent Majesty, our group volunteers to fight for Vinya. We ask for your blessing to continue doing so."
Seeing the lights of anticipation shine in their eyes, Alexis couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. Truthfully, he feared that there would be no one volunteering to become a part of Vinya's military. Even though eighty doesn't seem that many, it is sufficient to guarantee that there will be some form of protection for Vinya.
"Thank you, all, for your willingness to serve our cause." Alexis smiled and bowed to the volunteers. After doing so, he grew serious. "The new order that shall protect Vinya and the honor of our Goddess is not an easy task. It requires discipline, perseverance, fortitude, honor, and faith." He then began explaining the doctrine, similar to the Knights' code of penitence, devotion, a heart unfettered by gold and treasures, and an iron will to protect the land.
Hearing the list of requirements to become a protector, a lot of the men in front of him suddenly grew serious. Before, in their respective tribes, being a protector only meant that they were going to fight for the city or for the deity's purpose. But, with what they are hearing, it seems that being a member of the Goddess' army is a heavy task, and not one to haphazardly carry.
After hearing those conditions, one by one, volunteers began to slowly walk away, refusing to carry such a great responsibility. Some of the volunteers have had ulterior motives in joining, such as fame, fortune, or just to have legitimacy to have a relationship with one of the early residents of Vinya. Soon, no more than thirty remained. Alexis was downcast, but not disheartened by these as he looked at these thirty's eyes filled with conviction.
Once more, Alexis reminded them of the weight that they were to carry, but Karsi, the one who originally led them here, spoke, "We are adamant in serving the will of the Goddess, Your Eminent Majesty. We shall abide by the codes spoken today."
Hearing that, the sovereign was well pleased. Raising his hand, Alexis then spoke, "With the right bestowed upon me by our Goddess, I ordain and bless you, servants of the Goddess of The Northern Light, as warriors and protectors of the land. You will face hardships and vigorous training and discipline, but all will be well, for our Goddess is with us."
As he was saying those words, a light with the color of sunset gently escaped the palm of his hand and rested upon the shoulders of the thirty men. Soon, their bodies emitted that same glow despite Alexis having already lowered his hand.
"Praise the Goddess! She is with us, and her favor is upon you. I greet you, Children of The Night, Protectors of the Northlight Pagoda, the firstborn of the Night's Guard!" The sovereign of Vinya exclaimed in delight, with hands outstretched, as if rejoicing.
Feeling the changes in their spirit, joy grew in the hearts of the new members of the Night's Guard. Their eyes watered with elation and their cheeks reddened with their vitality as they shout in honor and pride, "Praise the Goddess, Her favor is upon us all! We shall honor our promise to protect the land from those who seek harm for it! Glory to the Goddess!"
