Chapter 5 - Li Qingcheng’s Doubts

"Huh?" Zhao Wan'er was instantly dumbfounded. She never imagined Lin Feng would sell her out just like that!

Zhou Yingxue frowned. "Wan'er, what's going on? How could I end up in that hotel and get drugged?"

"Tell me the truth. I won't blame you."

Zhao Wan'er opened her mouth, but no words came out.

What was she supposed to say? She was completely unprepared!

Should she just admit that she was the one who wanted to harm Zhou Yingxue?

Zhao Wan'er's heart was filled with both regret and resentment.

She regretted listening to that stranger's words and hurting Zhou Yingxue.

And she hated herself for being so blind—for ever trusting Lin Feng!

He betrayed her so easily, as if she meant nothing to him.

Not even half as good as Qin Xiaoliu!

Even if that guy was a little shameless…

 "I…"

Zhao Wan'er clenched her teeth and decided to tell the whole story.

Whether Zhou Yingxue forgave her or not, she had to say it.Otherwise, her conscience would never be at peace.

Zhou Yingxue had always treated her well—she owed her that much as a friend.

By the time she finished, Zhao Wan'er's eyes were red.

"Yingxue, I'm so sorry… I was too stupid to listen to a stranger…"

When Zhou Yingxue saw Zhao Wan'er crying like a pear blossom in the rain, her heart softened.

She knew her best friend too well.

At her core, she wasn't a bad person—just too simple, too easily swayed by others. And with her modest family background, temptation from money was hard to resist.

Maybe she did it for money. But it didn't matter now—Zhou Yingxue didn't want to lose her best friend.

Zhou Yingxue pulled Zhao Wan'er into her arms, comforting her softly.

"Alright, stop crying. I don't blame you."

"I'm fine. Just… don't do something like this again."

"It's okay. We're still good friends."

Zhao Wan'er nodded and hugged Zhou Yingxue tightly.

Lin Feng quickly chimed in from the side, trying to smooth things over. "Haha, it's just a misunderstanding. It's fine as long as everyone's okay."

"Wan'er, next time you run into something like this, just tell me directly. I'll help you!"

Zhao Wan'er shot him a disgusted look and turned away.

She could finally see Lin Feng for what he was!

Better to be scolded by Qin Xiaoliu than to like someone like him!

Seeing Zhao Wan'er ignore him, Lin Feng awkwardly scratched his head and turned to Zhou Yingxue.

 "Yingxue, I'll take you home."

"No need," Zhou Yingxue said coldly. "We can go back ourselves."

"You've got work tomorrow. Don't be late."

Truthfully, Zhou Yingxue was still suspicious. The mysterious person who had made that deal with Li Qingcheng… might very well be Lin Feng.

He was acting far too strange.

After speaking, she took Zhao Wan'er and left—leaving Lin Feng standing there, looking utterly embarrassed.

He watched the two women walk away, then cursed under his breath.

"Damn it, what the hell went wrong tonight?"

He had come to save Zhou Yingxue… so why did it feel like he was the one who'd done something wrong?

As Qin Xiaoliu's figure flashed through his mind, Lin Feng spat and muttered viciously,

"It's all that damn extra's fault! If I see him again, I'll tear him apart!"

Qin Xiaoliu, of course, had no idea he had just been sentenced to death in Lin Feng's heart.

He was in a taxi on his way to a private boxing gym.

Two bodyguards at the entrance saw him returning and called out,

"Sixth Brother, the boss is in a bad mood. Be careful."

Qin Xiaoliu gave a bitter smile. "Got it," he said, and walked inside.

In the ring, Li Qingcheng stood tall—her long ponytail swaying as she moved. Dressed in a boxing outfit that revealed the tight, beautiful lines of her abs, she was drenched in sweat, relentlessly pounding at one of her subordinates.

The poor guy's face was swollen and bruised, but he didn't complain—just stood there, firm and upright.

If you make a mistake, admit it. If you're beaten, stand straight!

Seeing Qin Xiaoliu enter, Li Qingcheng exhaled sharply and said to the man she'd been pummeling,

"Go patch yourself up—especially your face! Make it round again! Your ugly mug pisses me off!"

The younger man bowed gratefully. "Thank you, Boss!"

He was actually thankful to have been beaten—after all, even if the boss broke his arms and legs, he'd never dare to whine.

She might be fierce on the outside, but she was good to her people.

"Get lost!" Li Qingcheng waved him off impatiently, then glared at Qin Xiaoliu.

"You still have the face to come back?"

 Qin Xiaoliu: "???"

Didn't she tell him to come back?

"Get up here and take your beating!"

Qin Xiaoliu stepped into the ring silently—he knew there was no avoiding it.

Li Qingcheng tossed him a glove, more for formality than anything else.

She was about to throw a punch when she suddenly froze.

Wait… Qin Xiaoliu looked… more handsome?

Sure, he'd always been decent-looking—but not this good-looking.

And it wasn't just his face; even his whole aura felt different.

There was something about him she couldn't quite put her finger on.

"Boss?" Qin Xiaoliu blinked at her, confused. What's wrong with this woman?

Li Qingcheng's pale cheeks flushed slightly as she suddenly threw a punch.

Qin Xiaoliu braced himself—but the fist stopped right in front of his face.

 Then she scolded him.

"Are you stupid? Don't you know how to block when someone's hitting you?"

Qin Xiaoliu stared at her in disbelief, wondering if he'd heard that right.

The bodyguards below the ring were stunned as well.

The boss actually told him to block?

Li Qingcheng had always said that if anyone dared to block her punch, they were disrespecting her.

 So what was going on?

Was she… going easy on him?

 Because he was handsome?

Impossible! A woman like their boss would never spare someone just for that!

And yet… this time, they were absolutely right.

Li Qingcheng had, in fact, gone soft.

She couldn't bring herself to ruin Qin Xiaoliu's face—it was too damn good-looking!

Realizing how it might look, Li Qingcheng grew irritated. She tore off her gloves.

"Forget it! I'm not fighting. You're so damn weak, you'd probably collapse after two punches. Wait for me outside!"

 Qin Xiaoliu: "…"

You're the boss… whatever you say goes.
