Chapter 110 - chapter 110:The Family Reunion

[Two Days Later/ before noon]

Sunlight filtered softly through the windows of the car, painting the interior in warm golden light.

For the first time in days, Taekyun looked completely like himself again.

His rut had finally passed.

The feverish heat that had clouded his mind was gone, his breathing was steady, and the tension that had remained in his shoulders had finally disappeared.

He sat in the driver's seat, fastening his seatbelt before turning toward the passenger beside him.

Haneul was already watching him.

Their eyes met.

Taekyun gave him a small, gentle smile.

Haneul returned it.

There was something different about that smile.

It wasn't the nervous smile of someone afraid of what would happen next.

It was the smile of someone who finally knew

I'm going home....

Taekyun reached toward Haneul and carefully adjusted the collar of his T-shirt, making sure he was comfortable before settling back into his seat.

Haneul leaned his head against the seat and continued looking at him quietly.

For a moment, neither spoke.

The thought of what waited for them at home was enough to make Haneul's heart race.

Haru.

Taeha.

His children.

Five years of memories existed between those names.

Five years of wondering how they had grown.

Five years of imagining what their faces might look like.

And now.....

He was finally going to see them.

Taekyun started the engine.

Before putting the car into motion, he reached across the space between them and gently took Haneul's hand.

His fingers closed around Haneul's palm.

"Don't worry,"

He said quietly.

Haneul looked at him.

Taekyun gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Let's meet them together."

Haneul's eyes softened.

He nodded.

"Together."

Taekyun smiled faintly.

Only then did he turn his attention back to the road.

The car slowly pulled away from the hotel.

Neither of them knew exactly what the next few minutes would bring.

But for the first time in five years, Taekyun wasn't driving toward an empty home.

He was driving home with Haneul beside him.

And waiting there were the children they had both spent years missing in different ways.

Haneul tightened his fingers around Taekyun's hand.

Taekyun didn't let go.

The road ahead slowly carried them toward the residence.

[Taekyun's Residence]

The car finally came to a stop outside Taekyun's residence.

For a few seconds, neither of them moved.

Taekyun turned toward Haneul.

Their eyes met.

He gave him a small, reassuring nod before stepping out of the car.

Then he walked around to the passenger side and opened Haneul's door himself.

Haneul looked up at him.

Taekyun held out his hand.

"Come."

Haneul slowly placed his hand in his.

The moment they stepped forward, several members of the household staff noticed them.

They immediately straightened.

"Welcome back, Sir."

They bowed respectfully.

But then few older staff members recognized Haneul.

Their eyes landed on Haneul.

They froze.

One of employee followed the another staff member gaze and whispered.

"Is that...?"

"It can't be."

"Don't say it."

"But.... look at him."

"Is that really Haneul-nim?"

Their whispers spread quietly through the entrance.

Someone covered their mouth in disbelief.

"After all these years....?"

Taekyun didn't stop.

His fingers remained tightly intertwined with Haneul's as he led him toward the entrance.

The moment they crossed the doors, the familiar warmth of the residence surrounded Haneul.

But he barely noticed it.

His heart was beating too fast.

Inside the Residence,

Haru was just coming downstairs.

Headphones rested over her ears, and she carried the same sharp, confident presence Taekyun possessed.

She had grown tall over the years.

Her features had become sharper.

Even her eyes, once soft and round when she was little, now carried the unmistakable sharpness of her father.

Behind her walked Bora, carrying a pile of freshly washed clothes.

"I won't wear that pink one."

Haru pointed toward the clothes without even looking back.

"But it's beautiful, Haru."

"I don't like it."

"You used to love that color."

"Then give it to someone else."

Bora sighed.

"You're becoming more stubborn every day."

Haru was about to answer.

Then she looked toward the entrance.

Her words disappeared.

Taekyun stood there.

And beside him....

Someone was holding his hand.

Haneul.

Haneul stood slightly behind Taekyun.

The moment his eyes met Haru's.

He stopped breathing.

His eyes widened.

His heart seemed to forget how to beat.

She was....

So big.

So grown.

For a moment, he could barely recognize the little girl he remembered.

Then something inside him broke.

From the living room, Jina stepped out carrying Seoah.

Taeha followed behind her.

Jina was about to speak.

Then she saw Taekyun.

Then Haneul.

Her entire expression changed.

Her eyes widened.

Silence fell across the entire entrance.

Haru stood frozen.

Bora stared.

Jina couldn't move.

Even the staff members nearby remained completely still.

Haneul slowly stepped out from behind Taekyun.

One step.

Then another.

His eyes never left Haru.

Taekyun looked at his daughter.

He gave her a small nod.

Haru's phone slipped from her fingers.

It hit the floor.

She didn't even notice.

Bora's trembling voice escaped in a whisper.

"Haneul....."

Jina's eyes widened in shock.

She reached for Taeha's hand.

But the little boy was staring toward the stranger standing in front of them.

He didn't understand why everyone had suddenly become so quiet.

His small hand rested around Jina's finger, one finger tucked nervously against his lips.

His golden eyes studied Haneul with innocent curiosity.

Haneul's gaze slowly moved toward him.

His breath caught.

That little face....

Those tiny hands.

Those familiar eyes.

His son.

Taeha.

Five years had passed without him seeing this child grow.

Haneul's eyes blurred completely.

Then Haru moved.

Slowly.

One step at a time.

She walked toward him.

Her lips trembled.

"Umma.. ."

Haneul's entire body froze.

That single word reached somewhere deep inside him.

"Haru...."

His voice broke.

Haru's sharp eyes filled with tears.

She knew.

She didn't need anyone to explain it.

She knew it was him.

One hundred percent.

Her heart knew before her mind could even catch up.

"Umma...."

This time her voice cracked.

Haneul took another step.

Haru rushed forward.

She wrapped both arms tightly around him.

Haneul immediately held her.

His arms trembled around her back.

Haru buried her face against him and broke down.

"Umma....it's you."

Her sobs shook her entire body.

"You're back...."

Haneul closed his eyes.

Tears slipped down his cheeks.

"I'm here...."

"I waited for you."

Haru's voice became smaller between her sobs.

"I waited for you, Umma."

Her hiccups filled the entrance.

"I knew you'd come back...."

Despite how much she had grown.

Despite the height, the sharper features, the mature way she carried herself.

In Haneul's arms, she suddenly seemed like that same little girl again.

The stubborn little girl who had once clung to him.

"Umma...."

"I missed you."

Haneul held her tighter.

"I missed you too."

Taekyun stood behind them, silently watching.

His eyes had already filled. As he tightened his fist controlling himself.

He finally stepped forward.

Haru slowly pulled back from Haneul and looked at him through her tears.

"Abba. ..."

She pointed toward Haneul with trembling fingers.

"Umma is back."

Her voice shook with happiness.

"I told you."

"I knew he'd come back for us."

Taekyun gave a slow nod.

"You did."

He reached out and gently wiped the tears from her cheeks with his thumb.

"Don't cry."

His voice was quiet.

"He's back now."

He looked toward Haneul.

"Forever."

Haru's lips trembled again.

"Forever?"

"Forever."

Taekyun pulled her into his arms.

"He's back for you."

"For Taeha."

"And for me."

Haru nodded against his chest.

Haneul finally looked toward Taeha again.

The little boy was still standing beside Jina.

Jina looked at Haneul through tear-filled eyes.

Then she gave him a gentle nod.

Slowly, she released Taeha's hand.

Haneul took a breath.

He walked toward him.

One step.

Then another.

He lowered himself until he was kneeling at Taeha's level.

His eyes were filled with tears, but he smiled softly.

"Taeha...."

Taeha immediately moved closer to Jina.

His small body partially hid behind her.

Haneul's heart tightened.

Of course.

To Taeha....

He was a stranger.

Jina stepped slightly aside.

Taekyun moved behind Taeha and gently placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Taeha."

The boy looked back at him.

Taekyun's voice softened.

"Look here."

Taeha slowly turned around.

"Say hello."

Taeha shook his head.

Taekyun gave him a gentle but serious look.

"Taeha."

The little boy hesitated.

Then he slowly bowed.

Haneul smiled through his tears.

"Hello."

Taeha immediately looked back at Taekyun.

Taekyun crouched behind him.

Then he whispered,

"Taeha...."

His voice became softer.

"This is.... your Umma."

Taeha's eyes widened.

He looked at Taekyun.

Then at Haneul.

Then back at Taekyun.

His little finger returned to his mouth.

"Umma....?"

Haneul's tears fell.

He nodded.

"Yes."

He slowly held out his hands.

"Taeha...."

"Come...."

Taeha shacked his head.

Haneul's voice trembled.

"Can I hug you?"

Taeha took a small step backward.

Haneul stopped immediately.

He didn't want to frighten him.

"It's okay."

He smiled gently.

"You don't have to."

But the sight of his son standing only a few steps away was too overwhelming.

Haneul's tears continued falling.

He slowly reached forward.

Before he could think better of it, he wrapped his arms around Taeha.

The little boy stiffened.

He didn't understand.

Then his face crumpled.

He began crying.

Taekyun immediately stepped closer.

"Taeha...."

But Taeha pulled himself free.

He rushed behind Taekyun and clung tightly to his father's arm.

Haneul released him immediately.

He slowly stood.

His tears continued falling silently.

Taekyun placed one arm around Taeha, soothing him.

"It's okay."

Taeha buried his face against Taekyun.

Haneul watched them.

His heart hurt.

But he understood.

This child hadn't known him for five years.

He couldn't expect Taeha to suddenly call him Umma and run into his arms.

Haru stepped closer to Haneul.

She gently took his hand.

"Umma....."

Haneul looked down at her.

Haru gave him a tearful smile.

"He don't... know you.... he'll.. learn."

Jina wiped the tears from her cheeks.

Bora stood beside her, still unable to believe what she was seeing.

Around them, the household staff remained stunned.

After five years of believing Haneul was gone....

The person they had mourned had walked back into the residence alive.

Standing in front of them.

And for the first time in five years.

The residence that had once felt incomplete finally felt like home again.
