With a resigned sigh, she pushed herself out of bed, not really feeling it.
She slipped on her robe and padded toward the door.
As she stepped into the corridor, she nearly collided with Sera.
The girl was carrying a tray of food.
"Good morning, Mrs. Blackwood," Sera said, bowing lightly.
"Morning, Sera," she replied, studying her more openly now. "Is that for Eric?"
"Yes. He wants to have breakfast in his study."
Claudia raised a brow. "Why isn't Benedict bringing him his food?"
"Mr. Blackwood asked me to."
Ah.
Interesting.
Claudia suppressed a knowing smile.
"Okay," Claudia said evenly. "I'll be down for breakfast."
Sera nodded and moved past her.
Claudia watched her go.
If Sera truly was human—and everything pointed to that—then whatever was happening wasn't a bond as they understood it. Which meant the goddess had made an exception…
Sera headed further down the corridor. She took one more turn, another few measured steps, and stopped outside the study door.
