Isaac turned as if to leave, then paused. "One more thing, Alpha."
Eric groaned under his breath. "Oi vey."
"When do we begin preparing Miss Duvall for Luna training?"
"Excuse me?"
"Delilah Duvall," Isaac clarified smoothly. "It is the next step," Elder Isaac said calmly, folding his hands behind his back as if this were a simple matter of scheduling a council meeting rather than rearranging the rest of Eric's life.
"And what exactly gives you the idea that Miss Duvall is going to fill the role of Luna? Did she submit an application I wasn't made aware of?"
"Who else fits the role?" he asked instead, genuinely puzzled. "After you, the Duvall line is the most powerful in Crestwood and its surrounding territories. Their bloodline is old, stable, respected. There is no confirmed mate in the picture for either of you." He spread his hands, palms up. "Why not arrange it? Many strong packs were built on unions far less suitable."
