Chapter 18 - I Won’t Give You Any More Chances

Last night, Zhou Yu sent provocative photos to Jiang Beicheng to curry favor with him, but he ignored her. Early this morning, she played the emotional card and took the initiative to visit his grandmother.

Zhou Yu had quite a few tricks up her sleeve.

But this time, she miscalculated. Not to mention that Jiang Beicheng had completely lost interest in her, Zhou Yu's attempt to cozy up to his grandmother, Wang Ying, was like an egg smashing against a rock.

Wang Ying was a very traditional and upright woman who despised scheming women the most.

Back when Li Yun and Jiang Tao divorced, Jiang Tao wanted to make his mistress, a young secretary, his official partner and brought her home to meet Wang Ying.

Wang Ying never gave the secretary a warm reception.

It was precisely because of the poor relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law that the secretary whispered in Jiang Tao's ear, causing the plans for the dozens of acres of the Jiang family farm to fall through.

People of Jiang Tao's generation had a deep attachment to their hometown. After making it big in the city, they would often choose to return to their roots, building villas or estates.

At the time, they had signed a land transfer contract with the village committee and were about to hire a design firm to plan the project, but the secretary's interference put an end to it.

Now, the land back in the hometown remained undeveloped, with only a small three-story house where Wang Ying continued to live.

The hometown was just over twenty kilometers from the city, not too far. Jiang Beicheng planned to wait until his system level increased, then use the money to build the farm in his hometown.

He also wanted to buy a house in the city. When he got tired of city life, he could return to the farm in the countryside for a breather, spending a few days living a pastoral life with his grandmother.

His grandmother urged him to go back and deal with the Zhou Yu situation, and Jiang Beicheng didn't delay.

It was time to give Zhou Yu a clear stance.

When he rode his bike to his hometown, Wang Ying was sitting on a recliner, eyes closed, fanning herself with a palm-leaf fan.

Zhou Yu was sitting beside her, holding and petting the tabby cat Wang Ying raised.

Seeing Jiang Beicheng, Zhou Yu immediately stood up, greeting him with a smile.

Today, she was wearing a purple off-shoulder mini-dress paired with purple high heels and black garter stockings.

Her outfit screamed calculation.

Purple was Jiang Beicheng's favorite color, and garter stockings were his favorite "attack speed gear."

It was her way of signaling to Jiang Beicheng that she was more than willing to return to his side and let him continue to "tame" her.

"Grandma," Jiang Beicheng called out warmly.

Wang Ying got up from the chair. "You two talk."

She turned and went back into the house.

With Zhou Yu's outfit today, there was no way she could leave a good impression on a traditional woman like Wang Ying.

No wonder Wang Ying had kept her eyes closed earlier—she probably found Zhou Yu's attire too scandalous to look at.

"I thought you wouldn't come to see me," Zhou Yu said, trying to please him. "I know I was wrong, Little Boss Jiang."

Jiang Beicheng walked over to the recliner and lay down. Zhou Yu squatted beside him, massaging his legs.

She deliberately shrugged her shoulders, flaunting her "big guns" for Jiang Beicheng to see.

"Your biggest flaw is that you're too full of yourself, always thinking you're so clever," Jiang Beicheng said.

"Little Boss Jiang is right. I'll definitely change. I'll get rid of all the flaws Little Boss Jiang doesn't like. Can you give me one more chance, please?" Zhou Yu pleaded.

Jiang Beicheng shook his head. "I'm getting pretty close with your friend Li Xingying now. You don't mind?"

"It's actually fine!" Zhou Yu said. "If she and I don't get along, we can just live separately. It's okay if Little Boss Jiang likes her. Just think of me every now and then."

This was her openly declaring she was willing to be the mistress.

This was the Zhou Yu Jiang Beicheng knew—unwilling to endure even the slightest hardship in life.

Social morals, ethical customs… to hell with them all. As long as the sugar daddy paid on time, she was the most shameless woman.

Jiang Beicheng gave Zhou Yu no more hope. "Zhou Yu, the day we broke up, we did it with dignity. Today, I'll give you one last bit of dignity. Don't come bother my grandmother again."

Hearing this, Zhou Yu pouted, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes.

She clung to Jiang Beicheng's leg. "Little Boss Jiang, I just made a mistake any woman could make. You can scold me, hit me, anything—just don't drive me away, please!"

Jiang Beicheng laughed. "When you were dining with Zeng Haifeng at Li's, is that what you were thinking?"

"I know I was wrong, Little Boss Jiang…"

Jiang Beicheng didn't like these teary, melodramatic scenes. He had given Zhou Yu dignity, but she refused to take it, making a spectacle of herself.

Jiang Beicheng said directly, "You no longer have any emotional value to me. Your body is the same as any other woman's. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

Zhou Yu seemed to feel the pain she had caused Jiang Beicheng with the words she said on the day they broke up.

For a man, the worst thing is to lose his value in a woman's eyes.

For a man with even a shred of pride, that's an insult.

Zhou Yu's makeup was ruined by her tears. She stared at Jiang Beicheng, replaying his cold words in her mind.

She realized she had completely lost this major benefactor.

She stood up, wiped her eyes, sniffled, and hurriedly walked away in her high heels.

"Take the stuff you brought with you," Jiang Beicheng called out.

"Why take it back? What's sent to the house stays in the house."

Grandma Wang Ying suddenly came out and said.

Jiang Beicheng turned around and smiled. "Grandma, were you eavesdropping just now?"

Wang Ying walked over and swatted Jiang Beicheng's arm. "Move over."

Jiang Beicheng got up to give her the seat.

"You spent so much money on her, and she brought some gifts to visit me. Isn't that only fair?"

"Absolutely fair! Gotta recoup whatever we can," Jiang Beicheng said with a laugh.

"You handled this matter decisively and cleanly today. Much better than your dad," Wang Ying said. "When it comes to women, you need to find someone kind-hearted like your mom. What's the use of just those two lumps of flesh on her chest? Can you play with them for a lifetime?"

Jiang Beicheng burst out laughing at his grandmother's bluntness. She was always like this—speaking her mind without filter.

Her words were crude, but the reasoning was sound.

"Grandma, where can you find that many women as good as Mom in this world?" Jiang Beicheng said.

"Forget it, forget it," Wang Ying waved her hand. "I don't care about you youngsters and your relationship nonsense, but remember this: don't bring those shady women to my place and disturb my peace."

"Yes, ma'am, dear Lady Wang," Jiang Beicheng said with a smile.

"No respect for your elders," Wang Ying shot him a look, but a smile crept onto her face. She asked with concern, "Is it easy to find a job?"

"Grandma, Dad left me some money. I'm planning to start my own business."

"At least Jiang Tao had some conscience," Wang Ying said, her voice catching when she mentioned Jiang Tao, her eyes instantly reddening.

Jiang Beicheng reached out to wipe her tears, but she pushed his hand away. "At my age, what haven't I seen? You don't need to worry about me. Your parents are gone, so I have to stay alive to see you settle down. Otherwise, when you get married, if there's not a single family representative from the Jiang side, that'd be letting your grandfather down."

Jiang Beicheng's face broke into a happy smile.

**[Smile +1]**

**[Smile Count: 4/10]**

This tough old lady, usually so sharp-tongued, suddenly got sentimental and nearly made him cry.

After calming herself, the old lady encouraged Jiang Beicheng. "Young man, dream big and work hard. If you fail, don't be afraid—Grandma's got your back."

Jiang Beicheng teased, "Grandma, your pension isn't enough to support my spending."

"The money your parents gave me every year, I've saved it all. There's several hundred…"

She stopped mid-sentence.

"How much?" Jiang Beicheng pressed.

"I'll tell you when you settle down," Wang Ying said, keeping him in suspense, her face beaming with a smile. She got up and said, "I'm going to cook. You're eating here this afternoon. Xu Ru sent over a jar of yellow wine a few days ago. Have a drink with me."
