Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

|Devola|

She smiles a little as the two of them finish the wall and put the sentry on the wall. She is the one taking care of the wall, while her sister is placing all the sentries around it. The wall is now five meters thick and composed of a new synthetic material that she has never heard of. This is the reason why the process is 35% longer than they predicted.

She wonders if they have all these technologies, capable of retaking the planet from the Machine Lifeforms.

The fabrication of matter from energy alone is already something that can change the tide of battle. Logistics will no longer be a problem. They do not need to care for supplies from another Resistance group or scavenge for materials to repurpose for use in android parts and similar applications.

That is not the only thing.

It is a heretical thought, but she wonders why the humans on the moon never once sent technology back to the androids on the planet's surface. She quickly shakes her head and discards that kind of thinking.

Perhaps they cannot send the blueprint because there is a chance the machine lifeform is capable of copying it. She cannot imagine the extent of destruction that machine lifeforms with such technology can cause.

"There is also the fact that maybe it is Simon who is the only person able to make one."

She is an old model. Her database contains a wealth of knowledge, including some information from the Old World. However, even she cannot find anything regarding what Simon is capable of making.

He must be what other humans call a one-in-a-thousand-year genius—someone who appears once in thousands of years.

She smiled a little at that thought. To be an android partner of a genius human is the highest honor an android can achieve. Any android will feel honored, ecstatic even, to be a partner for a human.

However, she and her sister have the biggest honor they can receive in all Android history.

She stops and blinks for a second in front of what looks like another project. She frowns a little at the sight of what looks like a landing pad or launch pad. Another army of builder drones is constructing what appears to be a spaceship on top of the launch pad.

"Simon? What are you making?"

She searches for the blueprint vault, the place where they store all the things Simon created for easier access, but cannot find anything regarding spaceships or even an aircraft. That means, Simon makes them himself without any preparation.

"Hmmm?" Simon looks at her and says. "I am making a spaceship to deliver a satellite. I want a Global Communication Network that lets me communicate with the other androids and also lets me monitor the situation on the other side of the world from here."

She nods her head in understanding. Information and communication are two things that they need. It is not an immediate problem, but something they need in the near future.

"Can I help you with this project?"

"Ah, you don't need to worry about the building process. It is almost done, and I only need to finish the last part. However, if you want to help, could you please connect the spaceship to the computer for me? We need it to control the spaceship from here."

"It is not automated, Simon?"

"It can use automated programming, but I don't want the YoRHa to see the spaceship. The stealth device I put inside is good, but it can still be noticed if I am not careful. No. It is better to manually control the spaceship and make sure it does not leave a certain line."

She immediately notices how he does not want to be spotted by YoRHa androids. She looked at him for a few seconds and built up the courage to ask him for it.

"Can I ask the reason why you don't want YoRHa to notice you, Simon?"

"Hmmm? Ah, that is because I don't want to be forced to go to the moon. The fight is here, and I am needed here."

She wants to tell him that YoRHa is right. There are too many dangers on the surface, and the moon is safer for him. However, she and her sister had already tried to tell him that the planet was dangerous for him, but he was a stubborn person and refused their request.

She feels ashamed to admit it, but she also doesn't want him to leave. It is against her very being, but she is happy that he stays here with them and keeps his word.

That is why they will ensure he is well taken care of and comfortable while he is here.

"I see."

"Yup. Sooner or later, we will be noticed by them, but I want to maintain our anonymity for as long as possible. There is also the fact that the Machine Network is able to infiltrate YoRHa's network."

"What?!"

She looks at him in shock, and Simon looks at her while nodding his head.

"Yes. I don't know how deep they are, but the machine network is able to penetrate their defenses. I caught a glimpse of it. Why do you think they can follow YoRHa's planning and big movement?"

She immediately did a deep dive and read through all the big movements YoRHa has been doing in recent years. Her eyes get bigger as she reads through the report, and all of them match what Simon is saying. The machine network arrives and prevents them from achieving anything significant, allowing them only to secure small victories.

The only significant victory was what happened at Pearl Harbor, where YoRHa was able to deactivate a server room on that island.

"That is…"

"Yup. Surprising, right? They are able to hide their presence even with YoRHa technology. That's why it is better to do things stealthily even when they already know of our presence."

She nods her head and understands the reason why he always puts some kind of stealth-based design in all of his creations. If not for physical stealth, it is a stealth program that hides from outside interference.

"I see. That is something concerning."

"Yes. However, you don't need to worry. I am working on making sure the machine lifeform gets purged from the system and from the planet."

"And we will stand on your side until the end."

Simon smiles at her, and it makes her nonexistent heart skip a beat. She quickly looks away, feeling her body heat up for no apparent reason. She doesn't understand it and will do a check-up later. For now, she needs to perform the job given by Simon.

She connects the spaceship system and tracking system to the computer. When she is done, she returns to Simon's side and sees her sister already standing next to him. She greets her and takes the right side of him.

It doesn't take long before the spaceship is finished, and Simon says.

"Popola, I need you to control the satellite. I need you to make sure the activation is as it should be and according to the plan."

"Devola, I need you to control the spaceship. I already put the plan and map for you to see where we need to eject the satellite from the spaceship."

She and her sister nod their heads and start the project. They watch as the spaceship turns on. The Cold Fusion Reactor inside the spaceship hums, providing power to the entire vessel. After a few minutes of checking and performing safety procedures, they watch as the spaceship takes off. They continue to monitor the spacecraft as it passes through the Low Earth Orbit and slowly leaves the Medium Earth Orbit.

"We will reach the Geostationary Orbit in ten minutes."

"Preparing for deployment."

She monitors the tracker, and when they reach a certain point, she immediately takes action. The spaceship opens the cargo door and ejects the satellite. Popola immediately controls the satellite to stop it from moving for a second and activate all the necessary systems.

After a few minutes, Popola is done, and let nature take its course.

While her sister checked the satellite one more time, she connected the satellite to the computer, and now we receive communication across the globe. They can now tap into Android's communication and receive news from across the world.

"Woooo!" Simon cheers and hugs the two of them. She and her sister enjoy the affection and hug him back. After a few seconds, he released them to their discontent. "Devola, I will leave the landing to you. It has been a long day, and I need to rest."

She quickly nods her head and says.

"Yes, Simon! Leave this to me. Please get some rest."

She looks at Popola, and her sister nods in understanding. The two of them walk to the house and leave her to control the spaceship. Today is a great day. Helping a human and getting a hug in return. Truly, she is blessed.

|Simon Blackmore|

He opens his eyes and stretches a little. He opens the window and winces a little at the sight of the sun. He really needs to make something to prevent that from happening. He wants light to get through the window, but not this much.

He shakes his head and sits on his bed. He can feel his [Inspired Inventor] is recharged, and he now has ten charges to spend. He thinks for a few seconds and decides to update his cybersecurity. With the new satellite, he aims to enhance security so that the Machine Network cannot hack it.

It is good now, but there is nothing wrong with enchanting it even further. There is also the fact that he can do a wireless and quantum update instead of manually updating the firewall. He already has two charges in {Cybersecurity}, and after thinking for a few seconds, he decides to add two more charges to this specialization.

A rush of knowledge goes through his brain, and he immediately activates his Omni-Tool to start updating the Firewall. While working, Simon thinks about where he needs to spend his charges. Besides defending himself, he wants to ensure the planet returns to its original state.

He looks to the ceiling and sighs a little. That means he needs to fix the moon and the planet's rotation itself.

Nier: Automata is set in a world that is tidally locked. It does not stop spinning, but rather it just rotates at the same (angular) speed as it translates around the Sun. That means, one side of the world is always day and the other is always night. That is happening because in the 27th century, an unknown event caused the moon to fracture, resulting in a shift of the Earth's axis. This axis distortion caused a change in the Earth's normal day-night cycle, producing continual daytime in the area that would later be known as the Kingdom of Day.

He wants to change that and return the planet to its original state. He shakes his head and puts that away for now. That kind of thing will take a long time, and he needs to start small. So, he decides to use two charges and create {Terraforming} to let him change nature and make a habitable world.

A rush of knowledge enters his brain, and he smiles a little. However, before he can think of something, the door to his bedroom opens up, and he can see Devola and Popola enter his bedroom.

"Simon! There is an emergency situation!"

"What is it, Devola?"

"A Resistance Group will be attacked soon. According to them, huge machine lifeforms are coming."

"Do you know how big it is? How long until it reaches them?"

"We don't know. Lucy, do not tell us how many the opponent is."

"Call them and ask for more information. This will be a decision to see if we need to step into the light or still stay in the shadows."

He watches Devola nod her head and call this Lucy through her internal communication, but put it on speaker in his omni-tool.

"Devola! Thank goodness you're alive. How are you and Popola?"

"We're fine," Devola replies calmly. "But we received your emergency call. Is the situation really that bad?"

"Not yet — but soon. We're detecting massive movement from the north. YoRHa's ground scouts are the only ones who can still get readings — the Machines are jamming the orbital scanners."

"How big?"

"Massive. I've already called in help from the other camps. That's how bad the situation is."

"That is…"

"Severe, yes. That's why I need you two back here. We need every available hand."

Devola looks at him, and Simon thinks for a second. He takes a deep breath and says.

"We will help them. We will march to their location and help them."

Devola nods seriously and replies to Lucy.

"What? What do you mean? You were investigating Machine nests in the southwest region — how could you possibly bring reinforcements? There should be no Android group in that area."

"We found someone," Devola says. "Someone who can bring enough firepower to turn the tide and hope to all androids."

"Very well. I trust you."

"Thank you, Lucy. We'll win this battle."

"I hope you're right, Devola."

When the call ends, he looks at the twins and says.

"Devola, I need you to take Hermes, our VTOL, and take all the builder drones, assault drones, and hunter drones with you. Build defensive parameters around and build as many Sentries as you can. Prioritize Hydra and Hawk, but also include Tarantula in the choke point or killing zone."

"Yes, Simon!"

Devola immediately leaves the room, and he looks at Popola.

"I need you to go to the Fabricator Station and build more builder drones. I need to upgrade Ares, and we will join Devola with the rest of the drones."

"Yes, Simon!"

Popola leaves his bedroom and lets him create an upgrade for Ares. He needs to make it fast.
