After several grueling days in the hospital, Cha was finally discharged.
Though she was back in the comfort of her home, it only took a few days for a aching longing to set in. She missed Jinho deeply. He was swamped with work, leaving them with only brief phone calls late at night to bridge the distance.
So, when his long-awaited day off finally arrived, Cha visited his place instead.
Jinho doted on her constantly, refusing to let her lift a finger or tire herself out. His sweetness was overwhelming—every time his gaze lingered on her, Cha's heart did frantic flips in her chest.
At one point, Jinho leaned down and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to her forehead. "Thank God I didn't lose you," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion.
Cha offered a gentle smile. "Why? If I disappeared, couldn't you live without me?"
"No," Jinho replied immediately, his dark eyes dead serious.
"You're being way too dramatic..." Cha laughed softly, reaching up to pinch his cheek. "Smile for me, please?"
Months melted away, bringing them to the threshold of their anniversary. Jinho had always gone above and beyond to make their special day unforgettable, but this year was different.
Cha's POV
Jinho brought me to a private, high-altitude resort he had reserved just for the two of us. From the clifftop deck, the valley below was a sprawling sea of shimmering city lights.
Jinho turned to me with a tender look in his eyes. "Would you like to dance?"
"I'd love to."
Soft, romantic music filtered through the cool night air as he took me into his arms.
🎶 You are my dream, you are my love...
Because you're the one who taught me how to love... 🎶
"Jinho... I wish we could stay like this forever," I whispered against his chest.
"We can," he murmured, pulling me closer. "I'll do anything for you, my love."
My heart swelled at his words. As we swayed to the rhythm, Jinho suddenly paused. He stepped back, reached into his jacket pocket, and dropped down on one knee.
My breath caught in my throat. "W-what are you doing...?"
"Isn't it obvious?" A nervous smirk tugged at his lips. "I'm proposing."
"Wait... are you serious?" Tears instantly blurred my vision at the sight of the shimmering ring held open between his hands. Is this really happening?
"Hey, why is my love crying?" Jinho asked softly, his eyes brimming with affection. "Is that a 'no'?"
"Of course it's a yes!" I choked out a sob. "I want to grow old with you, Jinho!"
Jinho sprang up, pulling me into a bone-crushing hug before whispering in my ear, "Thank you... thank you for being given to me to love and be loved by. I don't know what my life would be if it wasn't with you."
Then, he cupped my face and kissed me with a fierce, possessive passion.
With the engagement official, wedding preparations began in full swing.
"Love, what kind of wedding do you dream of?" Jinho asked one evening. "A traditional church ceremony, or something else?"
"Could we have a beach wedding, my Jinho?"
He smiled effortlessly. "Whatever my Queen wants, my Queen gets."
They poured their hearts into every detail, even flying to Paris for a breathtaking destination pre-wedding photoshoot.
When the day finally arrived, the beachfront setup was simple yet undeniably elegant. A deep red carpet lined with cascading white and red roses led toward the altar. Jinho stood waiting, looking striking in a tailored white tuxedo.
When the music shifted and Cha stepped onto the aisle, Jinho lost his fight against the tears. She looked ethereal—her figure hugged perfectly by a mermaid-style gown, a delicate flower crown holding her veil in place, and a bouquet of blush-pink and white roses held tightly in her trembling hands.
When it came time for speeches, Jinho took the microphone first.
"Now, as many of you probably know, I've never been an over-the-top romantic," Jinho began, chuckling softly. "I'm not the guy standing first in line for the latest romantic comedy, and I've never been much of a mushy person. But I became a hopeless romantic the moment I met Cha."
He looked directly into her eyes. "In my experience, there are two kinds of people: those who are romantics at heart, and those who don't believe in true love until they meet the one. I belonged firmly in the second category. I was cynical. I was a skeptic who thought love was a fairy tale—until one ordinary day, it came calling."
"It didn't happen like a fairytale. I wasn't a knight looking for a princess. We just bumped into each other, and slowly, sparks caught fire. And now, here we are—husband and wife."
"When it comes to Cha, I believe in romance with every fiber of my being. Now that you're mine, I promise to kiss you every single day and remind you how deeply I love you. I will never let you forget it. I still can't believe how lucky I am to call you my wife. I love you, Cha... until the end of my life."
Cha wiped away her falling tears before taking her turn.
"Jinho... my love," Cha said, her voice shaking with emotion. "Thank you for marrying me today. Without a shred of doubt, I know we are going to build a beautiful life together. When we first met, I never could have predicted we'd end up standing here today, but there is nowhere else in the world I'd rather be. Now that I know what it feels like to be loved by you, I could never see myself with anyone else. I love you, Jinho—my husband."
Cheers erupted from the guests, chanting for the couple to kiss. Jinho pulled Cha close, sealing their vows with a long, passionate kiss.
The celebration moved to a lavishly styled garden venue—an exquisite, high-end reception where the night passed in a blur of toasts and dancing.
Late that night, the newlywed couple finally retired to their honeymoon suite. They sat side by side on the edge of the plush bed.
"I used to just crush on you," Jinho murmured, a slow, dangerous smile spreading across his face. "And now, you're my wife."
Cha flushed, offering a quiet smile.
"My Queen..." Jinho leaned in, giving her a sly wink. "Can we start practicing my duties as your husband tonight?"
Cha gasped, teasingly pinching his side. "Mr. Jinho! We just spent all day entertaining guests, and that's what's on your mind?"
She made a move to get up, but Jinho caught her wrist, pulling her back against his chest and wrapping his arms tightly around her waist.
"Fine," he whispered husky against her neck. "Get ready tomorrow, then."
"Okay..." Cha giggled, slipping from his grasp and heading toward the bathroom.
Alone in the bedroom, Jinho couldn't suppress his triumphant smile.
After a long shower, Cha stood in front of the bathroom mirror wrapped tightly in a bath towel, suddenly struck by an overwhelming wave of shyness. Why am I feeling so nervous all of a sudden? she thought, her heart hammering against her ribs.
A sharp knock on the door startled her.
"Love? Can I come in?" Jinho's voice echoed through the door.
"H-header on! I'm taking a shower, and I don't have clothes on!"
"So what if you don't have clothes on?" Jinho chuckled darkly from the other side. "You're my wife now. I'm allowed to see everything."
"You pervert!" Cha yelled back, blushing furiously.
"Don't call me that! I have every right to do whatever I want with you tonight," Jinho teased, his knocking growing more insistent. "Cha, open up. I actually need to use the bathroom. If you don't open this door, I'm going to break it down!"
Hearing the sudden shift in his tone when he used her full name, Cha panicked and unlocked the door.
Jinho stepped inside, shutting the door firmly behind him. His piercing gaze swept over her towel-clad frame with an intensity that made her breath hitch.
"Well?" his voice dropped into a low, serious register. "Are you just going to stand there and watch me?"
"A-ah, no... I'm leaving," Cha stammered, trying to brush past him.
Before she could take a step, Jinho grabbed her arm and pulled her flush against his chest from behind. He leaned down, placing slow, feverish kisses along the sensitive curve of her neck.
Cha's pulse skyrocketed, a sudden warmth coursing through her veins.
"Can I make love to you...?" Jinho breathed into her ear, his intoxicating cologne clouding her senses.
Unable to form words, Cha simply nodded.
Jinho reached over and turned on the shower, letting the warm stream cascade over them. Beneath the water, his hands moved deliberately, tracing every contour of her body before pulling her into a breathtaking, searing kiss.
He scooped her up into his arms, carrying her out of the steaming bathroom and onto the bed.
And there, in the quiet depth of the night... they became one.
Hours later, Cha fell into a deep, peaceful sleep. Jinho stayed awake, tracing the delicate lines of her face in the moonlight.
"I'm never letting you go, Cha," he whispered softly. "No matter what happens."
Epilogue
Three Years Earlier...
Jinho sat in a corner booth of a bustling cafe, sipping his coffee. His attention was abruptly captured by a girl walking through the front entrance.
His breath hitched. Wow... she's entirely my type, he thought to himself.
As the girl glanced in his direction, Jinho quickly lifted his open book to hide his face.
She ordered her drink and headed toward the door. Desperate not to lose sight of her, Jinho abandoned his table and rushed after her, only to be intercepted by his friend.
"Dude! Where are you rushing off to?" Vince grinned, throwing an arm around Jinho's shoulders.
Jinho scanned the crowded street past Vince, but the girl had already vanished into the crowd. "Get out of the way!" Jinho snapped, shoving Vince's arm off.
"Who are you looking for?" Vince asked, confused.
"Nothing... I just thought I saw an angel."
"What? You're seeing angels now?" Vince mocked, raising his hands in theatrical prayer. "Amen... praise the Lord!" He burst into laughter.
"Are you crazy?!" Jinho growled, swatting the back of Vince's head. "Forget it!"
From that day on, Jinho visited that same cafe every afternoon, hoping to catch another glimpse of the mystery girl. Months passed with no sign of her.
He even asked the barista if she was a regular. "A lot of pretty girls come through here, man," the barista had laughed. "I have no idea who you're talking about."
Then, on a day when Jinho happened to leave early, the girl walked in.
"One espresso with whipped cream, please," she said to the barista.
The barista, Gillian, blinked and stared at her. "Wait... wait a minute! You must be the girl Mr. Jinho keeps talking about! Pretty, petite face, long dark hair, dimples..."
"Huh? Who is Jinho?"
"He's this really handsome, cute guy who hangs out here! Honestly, you're lucky. He's totally into you. Whenever he sits in the corner reading, half the female customers come in just to stare at him!"
"So... what about it?" she asked casually.
"What do you mean 'so what'?!" Gillian huffed, grabbing the girl's phone from the counter and typing in a number before scribbling it onto a napkin. "He wanted your contact info! I bet if you saw him, you'd fall for him instantly."
"As if."
"Well, too bad! I'm giving him this paper when he comes back," Gillian declared. "He comes in every single day just hoping to bump into you again!"
