The tie wouldn't cooperate.
I undid it, muttering a curse under my breath and tried again. Still, it was off. The knot pulled too tight on one side, and not enough on the other.
I moved closer to the mirror, trying for the third time to get the knot right. My hands kept shaking, making the simple task feel impossible.
Behind me, Mina leaned against the doorframe of my room, arms folded, watching me. She was watching with that expression I'd come to dread over the past three days. It was pity mixed with concern.
"Seriously, Hansel," she said softly. "You're not in any shape to go back to work.
"Yes, I do." I finally got the tie somewhat straight and reached for my jacket. "I've delayed shooting for too long. The crew is getting restless. The investors are asking questions. If I keep waiting, we won't finish the shoot before the next fiscal cycle. I need to wrap things up before—"
I stopped, I couldn't finish the sentence.
