"Emily! Emily!" Theodora called.
Emily had been suffering from nightmares ever since her mom died. She jolted from her sleep, panting, and hugged her sister Theodora tightly.
"I'm going to make them pay," Emily said with tears running down her face and her lips trembling. "They all deserve to die. I'm going to make them pay. They took everything away from us — our mother and our home."
Emily sobbed, her eyes sparkling like fire, her small fists clenched tightly.
"I know you would, Emily. It's just that you are not yet strong enough. I know you will one day avenge us," Theodora said softly.
"No, Theodora, it's all my fault. I didn't wake my spirited ability on time. If I had, I would have protected you, protected Mama. I'm such a stupid child."
"No, Emily, you are not. You are strong, and I know you will master your powers."
