Chapter 1 - chapter - 1 A New Blood

The streets of London were deserted and dark. The blue light of the street lamps and the headlights of distant cars illuminated only small patches. The cold wind blew fiercely, and strange noises echoed between the tall buildings. With every step, it felt like someone was watching me. I couldn't fully trust my own legs.

I, Lyra, was walking alone. My red hair floated in the wind, and my white top and jeans moved with my stride. My heart was racing.

"Someone… please help me," I whispered.

At the corner of the street, a shadow suddenly appeared—Kael. His black sports car was parked at the side. His eyes held both curiosity and caution.

"Are you alone?" he asked softly.

"Yes… I'm lost. Will you help me?" I said in a trembling voice.

He just gestured toward the car.

"Get in. It's not safe out here."

The warm air from the heater gave me relief. Kael's presence felt both mysterious and safe.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Lyra."

"Kael."

The streets were quiet, but our conversation gradually grew.

Then, a strange sound came from a distance. I grabbed Kael's hand. His eyes turned slightly red.

"We're not alone," I whispered.

A few minutes later, we reached his house. The car engine shut off, and the silence outside seemed even more frightening.

"Come inside. It's safe here."

The room was warm and comfortable. Kael helped me sit on the sofa.

"You're safe now," he said, but a deep secret hid in his eyes.

Slowly, we moved further into the room. The soft light touched the walls, and faint music blended into the atmosphere. Kael held my hand as if making a silent promise.

"You're really here…" he said softly. His eyes glowed. The distance between us disappeared.

Then, a slight movement occurred outside the window. Kael immediately noticed.

"Someone… outside."

I looked at him. He smiled, but now his smile carried seriousness. He kissed me gently. The moment froze—sweet, deep, and real.

Later, his eyes glowed red. I shivered.

"Why… why?" I asked.

"Because, Lyra," he said softly, "Yes, I am a vampire."

My breath quickened. His power scared me, but it also increased my curiosity and attraction.

"If you bite me, will I become like you?" I asked hesitantly.

"Don't be afraid… I won't hurt you. Just feel it."

Then, a swift movement appeared by the window. Kael pulled me back.

"Be ready, Lyra… this night is just beginning."

The silence of the night now settled inside the room too. I was exhausted, standing in Kael's arms. Fear and curiosity mingled together.

"Are you okay?" Kael asked.

"Yes… just tired. So much happened so suddenly," I replied.

"You're not alone. Trust me," he whispered.

Exhaustion fully took over. Kael helped me sit on the sofa. Our heartbeats matched in rhythm. Outside, darkness and danger lurked, but inside, there was a sense of security and warmth.

Morning sunlight streamed in, and I was lying on the floor—Kael was nowhere to be seen. Fear, shock, and anger rose together. He had left me alone.

I realized I had fully become a vampire. Power, heightened senses, and cold steadiness coursed through me.

"Kael… what did you do?" I whispered, seeing his absence.

I searched the entire house but found no trace of him. I picked up his car key and stepped outside. The streets were silent, but my eyes were fixed solely on Kael.

I paid attention to every sound in the alleys. Every faint breath, every colliding noise—everything was a signal. My eyes could see clearly even in the dark.

A shadow disappeared a few steps away. My anger was no longer just questions; it burned like fire.

"You turned me into a bloodsucker," I whispered.

"Now I will find you—and if you've intentionally hurt me, I won't let you go."

At the corner of the alley, the same young girl appeared. Her face was hidden in the darkness, but her voice was clear—

"Now your time begins…"

My steps moved toward her automatically.

Nine months later, after Ethan was born, my life had completely changed. Alone in the hospital, Kael's absence and Ethan's innocence created conflicts within me.

The first cry of Ethan resonated in every beat of my heart. I held him to my chest. His soft skin, tiny hands, and innocent face awakened deep emotions inside me.

During the naming ceremony, I named him Ethan. When his tiny finger held mine, I realized that my life would now revolve entirely around him.

Two days later, returning home, I held Ethan in my arms. Every corner was prepared according to his needs—bed, sheets, lighting. Handling everything alone in Kael's absence was challenging.

Every day with Ethan—his laughter, innocence, and curiosity—became my greatest joy. Memories of Kael returned repeatedly, but Ethan gave me complete strength.

Ethan was now five years old. His powers constantly astonished me. He could reach any corner of the house in the blink of an eye. His running speed and vampire strength filled me with both pride and worry.

He didn't fit in with ordinary children. I decided it was safest to keep him hidden from the world. Our home became the only safe zone, where he could practice his powers.

In Ethan's eyes, Kael's red glow and betrayal always lingered. He became my protector and the guarantor of our existence. I taught him to use his powers only for our protection and the defense of our home.

Gradually, Ethan started sensing his powers. His skin was no longer warm like ordinary children. A steady glow appeared in his eyes, and he could perceive events far away.

Ethan was no longer just my child; he had become the greatest protector of our world and life. Kael still posed a threat somewhere outside, but Ethan's growing power kept us ready.

Our life was stable, but each day brought a new challenge. Ethan's growing powers, his questions, and my hidden world—together, they made our life thrilling, dangerous, and unpredictable.
