Chapter 38 - Spill over II.

It had silver fur with a greenish fluff on its neck where a necklace, a silver moon necklace, dangled. In its paws was a half-eaten ball of rice cake, the other half in its mouth. Large greenish eyes glossed and sparkled as it looked at the rest of the rice cake.

Lozo muscle's coiled as he shot up from his bed – mattress. His head bashed to the wall but didn't feel anything… all of his attention was at the hungry eyed bunny gobbling down the last of the cake. He backed up more and more against the wall in hopes to get away from the bunny. Alas a wall was still a wall. No matter how much you wanted to go through it you couldn't. You need to obey reality.

The betrayal of the wall only made his breath hitch higher. Faster. Hyperventilation was nigh and so was him losing consciousness. Lozo needed to act. He needed to act fast. He needed to fend of the beast currently on the verge of assaulting him.

His eyes schemed the floor. Nothing but rice cakes and empty floor. He searched again. On the drawer… his jacket.

Instinctively his arm reached. Barely grabbing the jacket's arm wholly Lozo swung at the bunny. He swinged with all his might in hopes to swat the bunny away. Or better yet end it.

Startled the bunny jumped back dodging the attack. Its head turned slightly as it stared blankly at Lozo.

Lozo swung again. The bunny jumped with a backflip, landing on all fours. Its head shifted slightly again. It looked confused.

But all that was swept away when the panicked boy rising from his bed charged at it and cursing…

"Die!!"

Its ears rose stifled by his words. Another swing came and this time the bunny sensed danger. With a series of hops and twirls the bunny made its way to the room door. It paused to swallow the rice cake inflating its cheeks then turned to the boy and taunted with a raspberry.

"Get back here!!" Lozo screamed shooting forwards.

His mind solely focused on the taunt had barely noticed the pile of rice cakes pilled on the floor. Then on one moment his eyes were watching the bunny the next facing the ceiling as he came crashing down onto his butt.

His anger only grew.

Between his toes he could feel the smushed rice cake slush and squirm around. It was moist sliding through his toes with ease.

Boiling Lozo got back to his feet. The hunt began.

***

He could hear its little steps prancing around in the hall. Thanks to its fluffy furred paws the monster was a prime and honed stealth master.

Thus, Lozo crept into the hall, tip-toeing to maintain the silence. He listened for the hops and in turn for the bunny. Just like before a series of munches replaced the beats of the hops.

He looked.

The Dorm Hall was quite small compared to the hospital. It was majorly made of polished brown wood and some concrete for the openings. It was adequately wide and looped around the rectangular building that was the dorm. On one side of the halls were the rooms. Each have a unique number incrementing to the subsequent. Lozo's room was numbered 8 and was among the other six room that were on the base flow of the two storied Pagoda.

The munching sound was coming from the outside. It was hasty and Lozo liked that. That mean that he showed the bunny that he wasn't scared of it but rather it was the other way around.

He wrapped the sleeves of his jacket around his fist. As light as he could be he stepped towards the sliding door exist of the building. There was a slight opening between the individual doors.

This confirmed it. He smirked, advanced with his back tracing the door. He peeped through the opening and saw a sudden movement.

The bunny.

His grip tightened, raising his hand well above his head… ready for the strike. His other hand slipped through the opening preparing for the sudden reveal.

He heaved one final breath and locked in.

Shutter!!

The door opened with a zip. Lozo launched forward, aiming for where he'd thought the bunny would be.

Aah! He screamed dropping his fist down for the strike. This was it. The monster would feel his full wrath. But then...

"Hey…" A sudden voice, female, interrupted his adrenaline.

"What're you doing?" She asked.

***

Lozo was the new kid on the block. Meaning everything he did stood out… and would never fail to come with judgement. Whether real or not, his conscious took the opportunity to gnaw on him. And as most people know your biggest enemy is yourself.

One's conscious takes its time to chew up your action, dissecting and digesting it in any possible way then giving you the down sides of it and only the down sides. And in order to explain the reasons to others we do the one thing everyone is good at.

We lie.

"Um…Ah. I was chasing this…um beast. Large claws, red eyes, scales. Oh! And extremely big teeth… and it was carrying a dagger with some red substance dripping from it. I think it was blood. So I was just trying to take care of it. You know... Have you…Have you seen it go through here?" Lozo explain with a mild sweat dripping from his forehead.

The girl seated on the bench only smiled. She scanned the panting boy head to toe, noticing the black jacket gripped in his hands. She chuckled.

"No. I haven't. But I'll call you when I see it." she said. Then suddenly from thin air a slice of cake popped up. It was similar to the one Lozo had tripped on earlier, with its distinct its white charr color.

"What is that?" Lozo asked, the enticing aroma of the cake hitting his nostril and igniting a grumble.

"Rice cakes. You want one?" she asked.

Lozo nodded. The girl patted on the empty side of the bench. Accepting the invitation Lozo paced and sat on the bench.

Then again, the girl closed her eyes and another slice rice cake popped up.

"Here." she said handing him the cake. He took a bite into it, savoring the taste as the cake flavor excited his taste buds.

It was good.

"How did you…?"

The girl had eagerly munched away her own slice and had spawned another. She wiped the pieces of the previous one of her face before turning to Lozo.

"I don't know. One day I woke up and was feeling hungry. Then I wished I had one and there it was."

Lozo took another bite into the cake.

"So, is that your ability? Making cakes?" He asked.

The girl thought for a while before answering. In the few minutes of thought her second slice was gone and another had popped up.

"Oh!" she said on the realization of his question." You mean my Gen art?"

"Gen art?" Lozo wondered.

"No. But hope it is. Then Karin will stop nagging me on eating healthy." The girl added with a fiendish grin on her face. "I could just have one whenever I like."

"Karin? You know her too?"

The girl nodded. "We joined the family together. Friends ever since. But I haven't seen her lately."

"Think she's mad at me." Her tone dropped.

"Why is that? "

"I think it's because I ruined the previous mission we were on. It was a test and she really likes to ace her tests. But me and my stupid brain had to mess it up." The girl sighed. Her hands dropped allowing the cake that she was holding to fall to the ground.

Lozo gazed at the girl gloomy girl. Her silver hair flowed over her back as she looked to the ground.

"I don't think she's mad at you." Lozo began. "I went on a mission with her just the other day and she was really nice even though I screwed up. And plus…" he stopped for a minute.

"I don't think that's safe to eat."

The girl hissed as she opened her mouth.

"It's been on the ground… Just spawn another." Lozo said. The girl didn't listen. She slowly opened her mouth and slipped in the rice cake that had fallen earlier. As she did that her eyes never left Lozo. Her counter… the five second rule.

"Are you a boy?" she asked bluntly, mouth full of ground cake.

Huh?

"It's quite rare for a boy to compliment Karin. Even Kento hardly ever. So, I was just wondering whether you were a boy?"

"Yes, I'm a boy. I was just telling you that you two have been friends for a long time and if she can tolerate a stranger… she was never mad at you in the first place." Lozo added as he got up.

The rice cake in between his toes was starting to irritate him. Especially with the spectacle the girl had shown.

"Try talking to her. Then decide if she is mad." He said climbing the stairs up to the sliding doors.

Another cake popped up in front of the girl. Her eyes glared at a distance. Then suddenly she called.

"Wait." Lozo stopped by the doors.

"I never got your name. "

"Lozo." Lozo answered. "Jurei Lozo."

The girl smiled. "Lozo huh? Hope to see you soon Lozo."

Lozo still lingered by the door. He looked at her draw the cake closer to her mouth in ecstasy. "And what about you? Its common courtesy when exchanging name."

"Oh." She took a bit into the rice cake then responded.

"Mine's Cilia."
