Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Punishing the disobedient child

Veronika still couldn't calm down on the way to the hospital. The news of Daniel's amnesia shocked her.

She didn't understand why he had amnesia, but Elenore was confused and didn't know how to explain it.

She felt that everything was related to Emma, his ex-wife.

The door to the hospital room was pushed open. Daniel looked towards the door with an expectant expression, but didn't see any familiar figure, and very quickly, his expression became tired again.

Elenore smiled awkwardly: "Mom, I brought Veronika here."

Emelyn tried to force a smile, but in her heart, she kept scolding her daughter. She told her to bring Emma. Why was it this person? Although her son used to like Veronika very much, after he got sick, he never mentioned her again.

When entering the ward, Veronika hurriedly walked over: "Daniel, do you remember me? It's Veronika."

Emelyn shook her head. Her son didn't even remember his mother; how could he remember her?

Daniel looked at the sobbing person running towards the hospital bed. He frowned, slightly uncomfortable when she touched him: "I don't remember. I'm obsessed with cleanliness. Please keep your distance."

His voice was cold, as if he didn't recognize her, making her even more heartbroken. "Daniel, don't you remember me?"

How could that be? Daniel definitely wouldn't forget her.

Daniel shook his head coldly: "Sorry, the doctor said I seem to have amnesia."

Hearing her call him so intimately, he guessed, "You're my cousin?"

Veronika gritted her teeth; she felt choked up in her heart: "No."

"Then why do you call me so intimately?" Daniel frowned, his expression serious, and continued: "I am a married man, please pay attention to your attitude, don't call me that anymore."

Veronika was almost stunned. Did Daniel hate her?

Moreover, if he had lost his memory, how could he still remember that person?

"But Daniel, aren't you divorced..."

"Shut up." Emelyn hurriedly walked over, pulling the other person to the front of the hospital bed: "Stop talking nonsense. What divorce, my daughter-in-law is just on a business trip, she'll be back soon. You are an outsider. What nonsense are you talking about?"

She didn't try to hold Emma back, but she also didn't want anyone to affect her son's spirit when his condition was still unstable.

Emelyn used a lot of strength, pulling Veronika to the point that she lost her balance, almost falling to the ground.

She turned around, looked at her son with a displeased expression, and ordered, "Elenore, who is that girl you brought along? Hurry up and take her out."

Elenore woke up, knowing she was about to be scolded, so she hurriedly said, "Let's go, Veronika, let's go out first."

Veronika was forced to leave the hospital room, her heart in turmoil. "Elenore, what's wrong?"

Elenore lowered her head, her expression full of guilt: "He doesn't remember anyone right now; he only remembers Emma."

Veronika felt her heart turn cold. How could this be?

In the hospital room, Daniel's complexion wasn't very good. He looked at Emelyn and asked, "Is what she just said true?"

How could this be? He woke up one night, and his wife was missing. This was impossible.

Emelyn smiled awkwardly: "She's talking nonsense. Son, you know, you're a famous person in New York now, of course, there will be a lot of people who want to approach you because of your fame."

Daniel lowered his head and thought, wondering if his wife didn't come to visit him because the people around her deliberately obstructed her.

---

Because of the success of the first week's theme, Emma began to be more daring in choosing themes, completely different from the stereotypical trainees, daring to do things that had never been done before.

Thanks to her excellent performance, Emma attracted Stella's attention. One day, after work, her car slowly chased Emma, the car window rolled down: "Emma, get in the car, let me take you for a ride."

Emma was startled when the car suddenly chased her, but quickly regained her composure, coldly saying, "No need, I can take the subway myself."

Stella just smiled at her, "Emma, I've invited you a second time; it would be rude if you don't get in the car."

With no other choice, Emma opened the back door and got in the car.

Stella smiled contentedly: "Where are you going?"

Emma thought for a moment, because it was inconvenient to say the hotel address, so she only said the name of the old dormitory. Hearing this, Stella frowned: "So it's not very convenient for you to go to work every day, it takes an hour to take the subway."

"Yeah, about 50 minutes," Emma replied calmly.

Stella gripped the steering wheel tightly, looking forward: "Emma, what does your husband do? I didn't expect you to get married at only 24 years old."

Emma was silent for a moment, then smiled and said, "Yeah, I got married a year after graduating. He's in a small business."

Stella glanced at her, wanting to ask for more information, but it was useless, because Emma's expression didn't reveal anything.

"Here. Thank you, I'll be right down."

Stella suddenly spoke: "Emma, do you know that the general manager of Sterling Group just got divorced?"

Emma gripped the doorknob tightly, her fingers trembling slightly, but she still smiled: "I don't know. Did you interview him and hear what he said yourself?"

"No," Stella sneered, "Even if I wanted to ask, I can't ask him directly. This is a rumor I heard from a few other sources. Well, let's go home, see you tomorrow."

Emma smiled, "See you tomorrow."

Watching Stella's car slowly leave, Emma slowly withdrew her smile.

It seemed that the divorce from Daniel would not be hidden for much longer.

---

"No need, I'm not eating tonight." She hurriedly ran back to her room like an ostrich.

Alex tilted his head, he frowned at her, muttering: "Why did she run? Do I look that scary?"

Emma returned to her room, trying to dispel the wandering thoughts in her head, then sat at her desk, continuing to write the unfinished essay.

She didn't know when, but she had worked until 9 pm, until her stomach was growling, she realized that she really needed to eat something.

She walked into the kitchen, opened the refrigerator to see if there were any instant noodles or anything, then suddenly heard a voice behind her: "Haven't you eaten anything yet?"

Turning around, she met his deep eyes.

Alex looked down at her bare feet, frowned: "Why aren't you wearing slippers?"

Emma looked down at her feet, a little embarrassed, then pretended to cough: "Not cold."

A strong arm wrapped around her waist, lifting her. Emma staggered, reflexively hugging his neck, "Alex, what are you doing?"

Alex smiled, his voice gentle, "Punish the naughty child."

He didn't realize he was bending down, causing the collar of his pajamas to open wider, revealing his toned abs and seductive curves.

Emma's face was red; she told herself not to look, but her eyes were still glued to him, unable to move away.

Alex chuckled, one hand gently lifted her chin, his voice warm, "Emma, your face is all red."

Emma quickly looked away, pushed his hand away, raised her face, "It's too hot today."

"But it's only 28 degrees today." He gently denied.

Her face was red, her eyes evasive, "I'm afraid of the heat, okay?"

He didn't want to make her angry, so he gently patted her head: "Wait a minute, I'll go cook food for you. But don't go barefoot anymore, I'll handle you carefully."

Emma: "..."

After he entered the kitchen, Emma breathed a sigh of relief.

The phone in her pocket rang; it was an unknown number. She hesitated for two seconds before answering.

"Emma, I am your father-in-law."
