Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"This means…" Coin stuttered, rapidly conducting hypothesis analysis, "that you have no rank advancement inhibitor." Coin's eyes positively glowed.

Cash was rendered speechless at his words.

"That's insane.", he muttered. But the proof was staring at him right in the face, on the lit up interface of the terminal.

Coin regained his composure, the shock fading away from his face until his usual stoic look returned.

"Not a single soul must hear of this", he warned.

"I'm not an idiot", Cash responded rolling his eyes. "Besides,…", he stated matter of factly, "..who could I possibly tell?"

Coin immediately realized his warning was pointless. The number of times Cash had left this courtyard since his childhood could be counted on one finger. So it was literally impossible for him to tell anyone because he had no one to tell.

"Come on then. It's time to figure out what exactly your mutation is. I already have mine figured out."

The twins proceeded to spend the rest of the day figuring out the Cash's mutation and its capabilities. But this was not after Cash had hounded Coin for the knowledge of his.

Mutants awakened in one of three mutant orders, the force order, esper order or physique orders. Force order mutants were the least in number among the two. Statistically, only one out of twenty awakening mutants followed the force order path.

Force order mutants possessed a unique organ right next to their brain that granted them unique traits they could imbue into force weapons. They literally possessed the power to imbue external forces and physical properties into their weapons.

Their mutation allowed them to alter the very nature of matter, turning ordinary tools of war into extensions of their will, or force.

A force order mutant with the sharpness force trait could imbue sharpness force into his katana to further improve its sharpness. The degree of sharpness was dependent on the mutant's rank and the capabilities of the force equipment.

Espers followed another mutation order. Mutants of the esper order developed a secondary organ next to their heart called the mutant heart. With this, these mutants possessed the ability to project raw energy from their bodies through specialized equipment called conduits.

Physique order mutants were the most common mutant types. Their mutations directly enhanced their biological structure, giving them extraordinary physical traits beyond normal human limits.

Unlike the initial two orders, their abilities manifested through tangible, permanent changes to their bodies.

Coin and Cash were both physique order mutants. Their mutations however, were on the rare side.

Coin mutation was a super enhanced brain. His brain had been so drastically enhanced that he could currently process up to five individual thoughts at a time. His mutation had also enhanced his perception and instincts.

That was the brief summary he had given to Cash. Cash was a hundred percent sure that there was more to it than Coin revealed but, he was too preoccupied with his own mutations to figure it out.

Cash's mutation was strangely unique. That hollow feeling he had gotten when he first woke up, turns out his instincts had been accurate.

Coin revealed that he had woken up to Cash lying in a pool of dark blood with more being continuously ejected from the pores of his skin. He deduced, that judging from the sheer ridiculous quantity of blood Cash had ejected and his present hollow feeling, than Cash's body had expelled all his internal organs. This claim was verified when the two found out that Cash had no beating heart.

His shock at that time was unimaginable.

Coin also had the suspicion that Cash's whole biological make-up had been altered. This theory, was also confirmed when a cut was made on Cash's arm and not a single trace of blood or flesh was seen. Just a gray sand-like wound opening that closed itself in mere seconds.

Coin's enhanced perception picked up on tiny gray tiny biological units that filled his wound.

"Nanites"

Coin named them nanites, looking clearly awestruck.

Cash's mutation had affected his entire biological make up. He was currently, in simple terms, not human.

From continuous test they run for the whole week, they figured out that Cash also had enhanced perceptions, nit as good as Coin's, enhanced strength, speed and endurance. He could also disintegrate his body into a puddle of nanites that could flow like a liquid undetected.

Sadly, the twins were running out of time to experiment.

Inside the house, the twins sat around a holographic projection of a map with serious concentrated looks on their faces.

Coin begun.

"The Woodlands are believed to be a family that once resided in the inner sanctuary. They were exiled for reasons unknown and haven't returned since."

Cash sniggered. "They wish."

Coin stared at him in disdain. "It's true", rendering Cash speechless. This family was worth more than he had presumed.

"Underestimating your opponent drastically increases your chances of failure." He continued disdainfully, "Do well to keep that in mind".

Cash shrugged "Sure."

"The mansion of the Woodlands is divided into three sections." Coin zoomed into the compound of the mansion.

"The first section is their compound, protected by seven tier one mutants. One of the esper order and the rest physique order mutants." He pointed directly at the entrance.

"The esper order mutant, a flame wielding pyromaniac, patrols the entrance with the scorpion, a ridiculously strong physique order mutant with a stinger. "

"The rest patrol the other parts of the compound in no particular order, a deliberate attempt to create ambiguity. Not to mention, they also have auto turrets."

Cash grinned.
