Chapter 21 - Daella V

(Third Person POV)

The rumor spread quickly, like wildfire, reaching all of the Red Keep and extending to some of the entire city. Many began to murmur amongst themselves, wondering how the King would react to what they had just heard.

A few nights ago, Prince Vaelor Targaryen was spotted entering his sister's chambers. One of the servants claimed that they heard the sounds of pleasure coming from within, which they quickly reported to some guards. Then, shortly after, they saw Vaelor leave the room covered in sweat.

If the rumors were true, the Princess Daella Targaryen was deflowered by her brother, Prince Vaelor. While this wasn't really much of a surprise for the royal family, many knew that this would cause some turmoil for the King's plans.

He had tried his best in betrothing Prince Vaelor to another Great House, which ended up in tragedy. And there was word of him preparing to offer the Princess Daella to House Velaryon, to build a powerful alliance between the two Valyrian Houses.

But now that this rumor was being spread, they knew that this would no longer be the case.

Now, the King had gathered most of his children on the main hall.

"Where is he?" Jaehaerys said, an angry scowl on his face, "Bring Vaelor down here. Now!"

Baelon was adjusting his collar, "He's being retrieved at the moment." He said, "It won't take long."

Aemon stood next to his brother, his hands behind his back as he looked down, shifting slightly. On the other side of Baelon, Alyssa was standing with her hands in front of her, looking down with nervousness as well.

To the side, Queen Alysanne stood, Lady Jocelyn to her left as Daella was to her right. She had a serious expression on her face, but it was gentle.

Jaehaerys clutched the side of the Iron Throne, "I have had it with you." He said, clearly agitated, "For the past few weeks, you have done nothing but nag me about the decisions I made. And you three allow this to happen?!"

The eldest three didn't say anything, they simply stood there, listening to their father.

"You!" Jaehaerys pointed at Alyssa, "You have been nothing but a nuisance, constantly trying to mold the flow of fate to your whims! You have always wanted Daella to be with Vaelor, so I wouldn't doubt it if this was your idea!"

Daella hugged her mother's arm, looking down in shame as she closed her eyes, saying nothing.

Alyssa looked at him, "I-"

"Do not speak!" Jaehaerys shouted, "If you were not my daughter, I would have you severely punished!! I should punish you, that's what I should do!!"

"Father-" Baelon started

"Silence!" He cut him off, "And you, you are Vaelor's elder brother, you need to mentor him and guide him to make the right choices. And yet, you approved of this?!"

"I did no-" Baelon started again

"I said silence!!!" Jaehaerys cut him off, his face getting red, "I have tried, time and time again, to make peace with the other Houses. What better way to work the politics of this world, the world we were all born into! We are not free to make every choice we want to make, are you not aware of that?! Marriages between houses are always expected of us, even if we're keeping our bloodline pure! Daella claiming a dragon was nothing but a good opportunity to keep our bloodline as valyrian as possible!"

Aemon shifted, saying nothing as Jaehaerys stood up, clearly agitated.

"It matter not if Daella was a dragonrider, I was going to ensure that her future was sealed! She would have been in good hands with House Velaryon, but you imbeciles ruined that!" Jaehaerys said, "And to make things worse, the flames of rumor are already spreading throughout the Realm! To think that my own daughter, who is still but a young flower, was despoiled!! By mine own son! Do you have any idea how this would reflect on us?!"

"Someone sounds angry." a voice said

They all turned to see Vaelor walking up to them, a neutral expression on his face.

Baelon scowled, "You little shit, don't start!"

"You...." He said, "Boy....."

"Yes, Father." Vaelor stood next to his three siblings, "You called for me?"

"Did I call for you?" Jaehaerys walked down the steps, "You have some gall, coming in here and act like you didn't do something terrible."

Vaelor shrugged, "These three had nothing to do with it." He said, "And it is not Daella's fault either. If you want to punish someone, punish me. But make no mistake, it doesn't matter what choice you make; nobody will want Daella's hand in marriage now that she has been despoiled."

Jaehaerys's face got distorted with anger, "I ought to...."

"Jaehaerys!" Alysanne exclaimed, "Calm yourself!"

"Why must you do this to me, Vaelor...." Jaehaerys said, "Ever since-"

"You know damn well why!!" Vaelor shouted, "You always knew that Daella and I loved each other! It's not fair, dammit! We have asked you to marry us, but you kept looking to the side, you stubborn old fool!!"

"Vaelor!" Aemon exclaimed, "That is not just our father, but The King! Control yourself!"

"No!" Vaelor waved his hand in defiance, "I'm going to stand here without cowering before a Father who won't listen to his son! I want Daella! I don't want anyone else, I want her! If you won't marry us, then I will take nobody as a wife! And if I have to, I will father bastards with her!"

Alysanne gasped, "V-Vaelor!"

Daella blushed deeply and looked to the side, trying not to see her Father's reaction.

Jaehaerys glared at his own son, "You stubborn little rascal...." He said, "You mean to incur my anger, Vaelor? Are you mad?!"

"Maybe." Vaelor challenged

Jaehaerys exhaled, closing his eyes and clenching his fists, "Bahh!!!!" He shouted in frustration, "My own children, you will be the death of me!!"

"I mean it, Father." Vaelor said seriously, "I-"

"Fine!!" Jaehaerys shouted, "You and Daella will be betrothed, have it your way!!"

Daella looked up, her eyes lighting up, "O-Oh....really, Father?"

"There is no other choice." Jaehaerys said, a scowl on his face, "But make no mistake, this decision does not come without punishment! The two of you will be prohibited from seeing each other for an entire year!!"

Alysanne looked at Jaehaerys, "That is too harsh, Jaehaerys."

"That's not fair." Alyssa said as she looked at Baelon, "Say something."

"I will NOT have a scandal!" Jaehaerys exclaimed, "We will ensure that my daughter is not with child, for her safety! She is too young! And Vaelor! I forbid you from flying your dragon for that entire year."

Vaelor scowled, "What?" He said, "No!"

"I've spoken!" Jaehaerys said, "Begone from my sight!"

"Wait-" Vaelor started

Alysanne walked up to him, "Go to your chambers." She told her son, "I will speak to him, to try and lighten the punishment, trust me on this."

"Just go."
