Raven's POV:
I waited for what felt like an eternity after Lucian had left, my heart still pounding in my chest as I cautiously stepped out of the bathroom. I had to make sure no one saw us come out together; if anyone connected the dots, I'd be done for. If anyone found out what had really happened in that bathroom—if they realized the truth about what he knew about me—it would be the end of whatever little peace I had left.
I tried to calm my nerves as I walked down the hall, every echo of my footsteps too loud in the otherwise quiet space. I wasn't sure how I was supposed to feel right now. Part of me wanted to panic, scream, just let the tension out in some way. But I couldn't afford that. If there was one thing I learned from growing up in this world of shifting dynamics and alpha power struggles, it was that panic never got you anywhere. So I kept my cool, kept my head down.
