Chapter 3 - Moonlight Morning

Morning in our house isn't really "morning."

It's more like… the moon forgot to set. The sunlight tries to sneak through the curtains, but it always ends up turning silver, like it's too shy to wake us up.

Mom was already awake, doing stretches on the balcony while holding a coffee mug in one hand. She looked like a painting—long hair flowing, eyes glowing faintly, and a casual smile that could probably stop time if she wanted.

"Morning, sleepyhead," she said when she noticed me dragging my blanket behind me.

"I wasn't sleeping," I muttered. "I was just resting my eyes."

Mom chuckled. "For six hours straight?"

Before I could reply, a flash of light came from the living room, followed by the faint sound of a camera shutter.

"Ah, perfect angle."

There she was—Grandma Roulette, the progenitor of the Moon Clan and currently the top world model on Earth. She stood there, wrapped in a silver designer dress that shimmered like liquid starlight. The camera team around her was speechless, probably wondering how a "woman" that looked seventeen could be called "grandmother."

"Grandma, you're working again?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.

She smiled at me, perfect as ever. "Just one shoot, dear. Humans adore my new fragrance line—'Luna Essence.' I'm donating the proceeds to rebuild the orphanage, so it's work worth doing."

Mom sighed softly, sipping her coffee. "You say that, but every billboard in Tokyo already has your face."

Grandma laughed—a gentle, echoing sound that made the air shimmer. "Can't help it if they love me."

I plopped on the couch, pouting. "You're both too popular. Mom's ranked #1 Hunter in the world, Grandma's a supermodel, and I'm just… short."

Mom smirked. "Short but powerful."

"Powerful doesn't make me taller," I grumbled.

She ruffled my hair. "Don't worry, sweetie. Even if the world doesn't see it, you already surpass all of us."

I froze for a second, blinking up at her. She said it casually, but she meant it. Mom might be the strongest being in the outerverse—a title she hides by pretending to be just "Earth's #1 Hunter"—but she still knew the truth.

That my power, Luna Authority, existed beyond creation itself. I could rewrite reality if I wanted. Even the author couldn't stop me.

But still… mornings like this made me forget all that.

Mom humming softly while flipping pancakes. Grandma checking photos while her hair glowed faintly in the sunlight. The smell of syrup and moonlight blending in the air.

It didn't feel like cosmic beings hiding among mortals.

It just felt… like family.

I took a bite of pancake and smiled. "Hey Mom, Grandma—can we go out today?"

Grandma looked up. "Out?"

"Yeah, I wanna see what humans do for fun before I start at the academy."

Mom and Grandma exchanged glances, both smiling that same knowing Moon smile.

"Alright," Mom said. "But remember—no showing off."

I grinned. "No promises."

The world may not be ready for the Moon family…

But Earth was about to get a little brighter.
