"Dr. Beal, how is my brother?" Emily immediately asked the moment the doctor entered her brother's room.
From the moment she heard that Dr. Beal wanted to talk to her personally, she couldn't help but worry. In her brother's critical condition, she was aware that anything could happen.
Every time the hospital called her, she wondered if it would be the last time. Thankfully, her greatest fear hadn't materialized yet. At least not tonight.
Throughout the car ride, all she could do was pray. "Please God, save my brother." She knew that only a miracle could save him now. Without a heart donor, the chances of his brother's survival were nil. The expensive treatments were just prolonging his life, but for how long?
"Hey, relax. I'm sure Dr. Beal is doing everything in his power to treat your brother." Nolan said with a sympathetic smile as his right hand left the steering wheel, stretching across the car to hold her hand that was resting restlessly on her lap.
