Chapter 1 - Rebirth

"Eichi, wake up!" Brandom vaguely heard someone calling him.

But that was not his name. He opened his eyes in a daze, and the face in front of him slowly became clearer.

It was a man he didn't know.

The man said, "Get up and eat," then turned and left the room.

Still half asleep, Brandom followed him out.

As he walked, he suddenly noticed that his room looked different. He stopped in his tracks.

Wait, where am I?

This isn't my room! I remember reading a novel last night before going to sleep.

Now everything was different, and he felt confused.

Then his whole body trembled as a flood of memories rushed into his head. Eichi seemed to see an entire life, from childhood up to last night.

After that, the memories stopped, but he still took a long time to calm down.

"Did I transmigrate into another world?

And it's the world of Pokémon."

In the past, Brandom had often imagined traveling into the Pokémon world, catching Pokémon, and going on adventures, but he never thought it would really happen.

With mixed feelings, he washed up quickly.

Looking into the mirror, he saw big black eyes, thick black hair, delicate features, and pale skin.

A standard little handsome boy. Considering this body was only ten years old, he didn't feel too strange about it.

At the table, he ate breakfast silently while absorbing more of the original boy's memories.

His name was Yoshino Eichi. He had just turned ten a few days ago. His mother died when he was very young.

So Eichi lived with his father. His father was just an ordinary worker in a small town near Viridian City. He did not earn much, so their family conditions were simple.

Eichi loved Pokémon and wanted to become a Bug Catcher, to capture his own Pokémon.

His dream was to become the strongest Pokémon Trainer.

To chase this dream, he had been studying Pokémon.

In the Pokémon world, the League required citizens to be at least ten years old to own a Pokémon.

If someone under ten caught a Pokémon without permission, they would be punished seriously.

Before, he was too young, so all he could do was run around with the Bug Catchers in town, seeing many kinds of Pokémon.

Now that Eichi was ten. He could finally catch his own Pokémon.

Thinking of this made Brandom excited. But when he looked up and saw his father's rough and determined face, he couldn't stay excited.

He sighed silently: "Sorry, Eichi. Since I've taken your body, your father is my father. From now on, I am Eichi.

I'll fulfill your dream and become the strongest Trainer, for that is also my dream."

According to the memories, the next step was going to Pokémon School.

In this world, the League required every family to send children to school when they reached a certain age.

Everyone had to finish Primary School before choosing further study or entering society.

Eichi's school was called Viridian Primary Pokémon School. It was near Viridian Forest.

There, teachers taught reading, the Pokémon of the Kanto Region, and basic Pokémon knowledge.

The Primary School only taught the simplest things. It was like elementary school in the previous life, with only the basics.

To learn more, you had to ask teachers or attend Intermediate or Advanced Pokémon Schools.

Walking along the road, Eichi saw the sunlight and the perfectly blue sky.

There's no air pollution here; the air is fresh, even sweet.

Houses were neatly arranged, surrounded by tall green trees.

Through a small forest, he saw flocks of Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Butterfree, and Spearow flying in the sky.

He saw many Rattata and Oddish running on the road. Many Pokémon lived in the trees, too.

There were no animals from his past world, only Pokémon from manga and anime: Rattata, Venonat, Caterpie, Weedle, Oddish…

Looking at them passing by, Eichi smiled.

This world is really nice.

Not far away, tall buildings appeared. In front stood the school gate, with a big sign that read "Viridian Primary School."

Inside was a three-story building, very similar to a school on Earth. Gray-white walls, neat classroom doors.

Students and teachers came and went with energy. Next to the building was a small playground, about 300 meters away.

It wasn't large, but it had everything needed.

Eichi entered with a smile, greeting teachers and classmates.

"Good morning, Teacher Taisho."

"Oh, it's Eichi!"

Some classmates also greeted him.

"Morning, Eichi!"

"Morning."

He found his seat and sat down. Soon, the teacher arrived, right on time, and started class.

"Everyone, open Beginner Pokémon Recognition 1 to page 30. Today, we'll learn to identify Ghost-type Pokémon in the Kanto Region.

First, let's meet Gastly and its evolutions, Haunter and Gengar…"

For someone who loved Pokémon and had crossed worlds, this was far too easy. The original Eichi was already smart and hard-working, so he had self-studied these long ago.

In fact, he always got first place in exams. He was even the top student in the whole school.

So during class, Eichi often read on his own. Teachers saw but let it pass.

Who could complain when his grades were so good? Just like in his past world, top students could do anything in class as long as their results stayed high.

In his previous life, Eichi deeply understood this. His grades had always been average, middle of the class. No matter how hard he worked, he couldn't beat the top students who scored easily.

Later, he failed to enter his dream university. He only went to a regular one. Then he gave up and lived a lazy student life, following a routine every day.

He woke up on time, slept on time. Outside of class, he spent most of his time on his phone.

Years passed like that, and then he crossed into this world. No car accident, no divine item guiding him.

He had simply fallen asleep and crossed over.

But after crossing, he noticed he seemed smarter. For example, problems that used to be too hard, he could now solve step by step in his head.

His memory also improved. The most obvious case was that he could clearly remember everything he saw today.

This made him very happy. The best part was the knowledge about Pokémon and memories of future events stored in his mind.

That was his golden cheat. Even without a system, Eichi was satisfied.
