Cassian's POV
"Celine…"
Her name left my mouth as a breath, barely above a whisper, as I walked into her room.
She didn't answer. She didn't even flinch.
She just stared at me, with surprised, guarded, but hollow eyes.
She looked distant, but slowly turned with a look of surprise. She was studying me carefully, not knowing what to say.
A part of me wanted to tell her she had no right to look at me like that, like I was a weak, broken person that was to be pitied.
And yet, deep down, I knew I was weak, covering my weakness with a cruel façade. I wanted to control everything around me because I couldn't control myself.
Her gaze slid away from mine, back toward the window, dismissing me without words.
I swallowed instantly, clearing my throat.
"Are you ignoring me now?" I asked quietly.
I was in no mood to argue or raise my voice. Still, she said nothing.
My feet moved before my mind approved, and I sat beside her near the window.
