Celine's POV
I smiled faintly. "You make it sound like I just won a lottery."
"In a way, you did," she replied with a smirk. "You ate. That's half the battle."
Her laughter made me laugh, too. It was an awkward, rusty sound that hadn't escaped my throat in days. It felt strange and unfamiliar, but good.
Madison looked at the remote on the table. "Let's watch something. A comedy, maybe? Something to keep your mind from overthinking."
I nodded. "Sure."
We flipped through channels until we found one of those old comedy movies, the kind where everything is exaggerated and ridiculous.
It wasn't my usual taste, but Madison laughed so genuinely that I couldn't help joining in.
For a while, we just laughed. At the bad jokes, the silly expressions, the absurdity of it all. And for those few minutes, I felt normal. Like the world, the world I lived in didn't exist.
