When Nozomi mentioned evolution, Eevee blinked its round eyes, instantly showing interest.
As a proud little Eevee, it was never satisfied living off its cuteness alone.
So, upon hearing its Trainer's question, Eevee immediately nodded.
It had seen others of its kind before—Some had evolved into Flareon, some into Vaporeon, some into Jolteon, and even the rarer Espeon and Umbreon.
Eevee thought to itself: since it loved the sunlight so much, and its bond with its Trainer was so strong, it was surely destined to become an adorable yet powerful Espeon.
But before it could shake off that daydream, its Trainer scooped it up and set it down on a nearby stone.
With a puzzled look still on its face, something sweet was suddenly stuffed into its mouth.
The candy tasted delicious—sweet and fragrant.
Then, without warning, Eevee's entire body began to shine with the glow of evolution.
In the games, an Eevee levels up near a "Moss Rock" to evolve into a Leafeon. In the real world, there wasn't such a strict level system, but a Pokémon's power was still measured by its internal energy and overall battle ability.
Nozomi had just fed Eevee a rare treat designed to boost a Pokémon's inner energy.
The dazzling light immediately caught the attention of Trainers practicing nearby.
Even though most Trainers had seen Pokémon evolve before, it was like watching someone pop bubble wrap—meaningless in theory, but impossible to look away from.
Inside the glow of evolution, Eevee's small body stretched and changed.
The radiance faded.
Its once-long fur became fine, velvety fluff. Its eyes remained brown, but its body had turned a pale yellow, and its legs were now earthy brown.
Its ears and tail had become leaf-shaped, both in color and form.
There was a strange yet beautiful aura about it.
"What kind of Pokémon is that?"
"I've never seen it before! But it's gorgeous!"
"Wait, just now… wasn't that an Eevee evolving?"
"Isn't Eevee supposed to have only five evolutions? Don't tell me there's another one?"
The Trainers in the practice field stared wide-eyed at this Pokémon they'd never seen before.
Clearly, none of them knew about Leafeon.
Nozomi paid no mind to their gawking.
He would be using Leafeon in battles from now on—this kind of attention was bound to happen.
He crouched down in front of Leafeon, who was stretching its legs in bewilderment, unsure what to do with its new body.
He reached out and stroked the top of Leafeon's head.
It felt soft.
Then he gently touched one of Leafeon's leaf-like ears. It was firm—far tougher than it appeared.
Nozomi gave his first command:"Leafeon, show me all the moves you can use right now!"
At the sound of his voice, Leafeon hesitated for two seconds before realizing he was talking to her.
She stood up.
Her ears twitched.
Two sharp, gleaming Leaf Blades shot out, slicing the target across the field neatly in half.
"Leaf Blade!" Nozomi wasn't surprised—every Leafeon learned that upon evolving.
Pausing for a moment, Leafeon curled her tail up to her mouth, opened her small jaws, and blew softly.
A gentle flute-like sound rose from the leaf on her tail, making listeners feel drowsy.
"Grass Whistle!"
Grass Whistle had the power to lull Pokémon to sleep.
Then Leafeon flicked her ears.
Several leaves glowing with mysterious light burst outward from her body, tracing graceful arcs through the air before striking another target head-on, exploding it on impact.
"Magical Leaf!"
Magical Leaf might look similar to Leaf Blade, but it was homing—it would track its target no matter where it tried to hide!
After finishing Magical Leaf, Leafeon tilted her head back, summoning a large, hard-shelled seed above it, then hurled it forward.
Bang!
The seed slammed into the ground, leaving a sizable crater.
"Seed Bomb!"
Having displayed these four moves, Leafeon stopped moving.
These were all the techniques she had gained from evolving.
Counting Quick Attack, Take Down, and Sand Attack from before, Leafeon now had seven moves total.
"Let's do our best together from now on!"
Nozomi extended his hand to Leafeon.
Leafeon squinted happily, placing her paw on his palm before affectionately licking his cheek.
"That's so sweet—I'm jealous!"
A Trainer who hadn't yet left muttered bitterly as he watched the scene.
Why couldn't he have such a cute Pokémon?
Looking down at the Grimer clinging to his leg and rubbing against him, he felt a sudden urge to cry.
