Captain Kane looked over the ruined town before him. Evergrove was a small farming town on the edge of the empire, overlooking a large plateau of dirt that was used to grow crops. His men was on the run, fleeing for there lives with anyone they can. His first Mage, Flint, was gone. Smashed by Feralok in the blink of an eye. He had failed to protect this town.
He and around 500 blood soldiers came to Evergrove to defend it from the Forgotten God Gorloth. But the battle was over before It began. Gorloth came at sunset, like clockwork, but the God of Rot had backup. Over 200 Zombies followed his footsteps. Our Cannons did nothing to Gorloth's regeneration. And to top off the disaster, the God of Savagery Feralok came to get his pick of the feast. Flint advised us to retreat with as many citizens as we could, while he casts a spell to cover us. The order went out and we went fleeing for the hills. Flint was smashed by Feralok's blade before his can cast the spell.
"Captain!" one of his men yelled to him, "We've been blessed! Jasper is on the east horizon!"
He looked to the east and was relieved to see that the 500 year old titan of a construct was coming, but it was too far away to help them.
"It's too far away!" He yelled back. "Keep the retreat, lure them to Cordor and let its artillery finish them!"
Kane turned behind him only to see in despair that Gorloth was approaching fast. The 30 ft tall zombie was quite fast for undead, and its ability to regenerate fast allowed it to have almost no injuries slowing it.
Kane braced with his sword, as well as a few other men. Ready to fight it if it meant survival for the others
"Run!" He yelled to the rest of his troops. "I'll hold it off!"
His men obeyed, either too scared to fight or willing to let him take the glory. As if he could kill it. Kane took a breath in and charged Gorloth. Gorloth swung his fists at him but he dodged it, using it arm as a stairway, he rushed in for it's head, ready for the kill. But as it turns out, Gorloth had a trick up it's sleeve, acidic vile. It spewed the green substance from its mouth and it enveloped Kane. As Kane slowly melted away, he thought of his family, his wife Marisa, his children, Opren his 14 year old son, Aria, his 7 year old daughter. He hoped they learned of his death sooner or later. He hoped they could survive without him. Kane, with one final muster of strength threw his sword at the God. He did not live to see where it hit, but the roar of the zombie told him everything. With one last breath, he prayed to the God of Death, Kajin, that he would have a peaceful rest.
