Chapter 108: Escape
"You're right," Harry nodded.
"Do you have any classes today?" asked Dudley, trying to lighten the mood after noticing the look of panic on Harry face.
"Yeah, I've got Potions in an hour," replied Harry, suddenly remembering his schedule.
"Just skip it, Harry. We've got someone to save and besides, it's Snape class," said Dudley with a chuckle.
"Of course I'll save Madam Amelia," said Harry, but then he gave Dudley a knowing look. "But Dudley… don't you like Susan? Do you really want to put her in danger?"
Dudley froze. Harry words hit him hard. Unlike Harry, who always seemed to survive impossible odds thanks to his so-called "plot armor," Susan was different. She was a normal witch. vulnerable, unprotected, and not meant for battles like these.
"Okay, Harry… plan changed," said Dudley quickly. "We'll just go there and wait in hiding. We'll strike only if she's being attacked by Dark Lord."
Harry couldn't help but smirk. "Got you worried there, didn't I?"
"Shut it," Dudley muttered, turning red. "Let's go. Follow me, we're leaving Hogwarts."
Before anyone could stop them, Dudley cast a Disillusionment Charm over both of them, blending their bodies into the air like rippling glass. Then he followed up with Muffliato, muffling the sound of their footsteps as they moved through the darkened halls of Hogwarts.
They crept past sleeping portraits and quiet staircases, moving silently as the castle groaned in the wind. Once, they nearly ran into a patrolling student, but Harry, a master of using the Invisibility Cloak, guided them smoothly out of sight.
Finally, they reached the seventh floor, right across from the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy.
"Why are we here?" asked Harry, confused.
"Just watch me, Harry," replied Dudley.
He paced three times in front of the blank wall and whispered, "We need a way to escape Hogwarts unnoticed."
The Room of Requirement appeared before them, its door glowing faintly. Inside, they found a tunnel leading deep underground, the air cool and faintly humming with magic.
"Wow," Harry muttered, peering into the darkness. "This feels like the Chamber of Secrets all over again."
"Let's just hope there aren't any giant snakes this time," Dudley said dryly, stepping inside first.
"What is this place, Dudley?" asked Harry.
"It's one of my secrets. Do you remember that time I suddenly appeared near Filch office? This is the Room of Requirement, it gives you what you need most. A place to hide, train, or even a path to escape Hogwarts," explained Dudley. "Now hurry, we're out of time."
Harry wanted to ask more but stopped himself. There was someone in danger, and they couldn't waste another second.
They walked for several minutes, the air growing colder and the stone walls closing in. At the end of the passage, they reached a small chamber dimly lit by enchanted lanterns. Beyond it, the tunnel opened into the edge of the forest, they had officially left Hogwarts grounds.
"Finally, we escaped Hogwarts," said Dudley, pointing toward the distant castle, about a kilometer away.
"Now what?" asked Harry.
Dudley raised his hand. "Now, we call for help."
He called out, "Kreacher! Dobby!"
Two sharp cracks echoed through the air as the house-elves appeared. Kreacher looked composed, already prepared as though he had been briefed earlier, while Dobby's eyes were wide with excitement, he, too, had heard from Kreacher what was coming.
"Master Dudley called Dobby!" the little elf squeaked.
"Yes," said Dudley firmly. "We need you both to bring Mipsy here. Tell her it's urgent."
Kreacher nodded and vanished instantly, months of living with Dudley had granted him access to Bones Manor. Dobby saluted and disappeared right after him.
Harry stared at Dudley in disbelief. "We're going to Apparate there?"
"Right, Harry. Hard problems require simple solutions," Dudley replied with a smirk.
A few moments later, three elves returned. Mipsy looked nervous and trembling.
"Master Dudley, Mipsy has come," she said softly.
"Good. We've got work to do," said Dudley. "We're going to save Madam Amelia Bones before Voldemort can even touch her."
As he said those words, Mipsy and Dobby's faces grew grim, while Kreacher who had heard that name countless times merely nodded, his fear replaced with fierce determination.
"Is it true that Master Amelia is in danger?" asked Mipsy anxiously.
"Yes, and we need you to transport us to Bones Manor," said Dudley.
"I can't. I need Master Amelia's permission first," said Mipsy.
"Mipsy, last time I entered Bones Manor with Harry, Madam Amelia gave me access. She never said it was temporary, which means I still have permission," Dudley said confidently.
Last time he had visited the manor, his words weren't technically wrong but anyone with common sense would have known it was a one-time invitation. Dudley, however, was no ordinary person. He was clever. a manipulator who had once persuaded the Bones family and their elves to let him use magic freely in Privet Drive. Now he used that same cunning to fool Mipsy into believing he still had access and it worked.
Mipsy nodded and took both their hands before snapping her fingers.
The world twisted around them and in the next instant, they were standing on the lawn of Bones Manor.
Harry stumbled, nearly vomiting, while Dudley stood steady his "Gamer's Mode" suppressing motion sickness and pain.
"Your stomach's still weak, huh, Harry?" said Dudley, offering a hand.
"I'm not used to this kind of travel," muttered Harry, taking it.
Dudley chuckled and turned to Mipsy. "So, where is Madam Bones?"
"At this hour, she is still working. We must wait for her return," Mipsy replied.
"Alright," Dudley said before calling out, "Dobby, Kreacher, come here."
The two elves appeared instantly in front of him.
"Mipsy, Dobby, Kreacher we're about to face the Dark Lord. Are you ready?" asked Dudley.
"For my mistress, I am ready," said Mipsy, raising her small hand proudly.
"I get to fight beside the great Harry Potter!" Dobby exclaimed, barely able to contain his excitement.
"I am ready, Master," said Kreacher darkly. His eyes glowed with purpose. "It was Master Regulus wish and I will see it done."
