Chapter 96: Tony Stark IQ is 200
Iron Man or the Iron Mage armor as Dudley jokingly called it, was not powerful enough to face Voldemort himself. Even with the rune magic, enchanted metal and magical reactors could not guarantee survival against the Killing Curse.
But against the other enemies such as werewolves, troll or giants. It will be easy peasy.
Dudley remembered clearly the stories from the Battle of Hogwarts. Too many had died that night. Some were mauled by werewolves, others were crushed under the massive blows of giants, their clubs splattering defenders. Many more were struck down by spell fire, their shields overwhelmed in the chaos of battle.
So here came the Iron Man or Iron Mage. In the movies, Iron Man could fight the Chitauri army and defeat countless enemies with ease. Such an armor would be a powerful weapon if a Battle of Hogwarts were ever to happen. Would it? He did not know, but he wished it would happen at Hogwarts, because that castle had layers of protection wards. And who could forget the moment when Professor McGonagall used Piertotum Locomotor, summoning a horde of stone golem guardians to defend the school?
The golems were strong allies, but against giants, too many of them were destroyed before the giant are being killed. Dudley hoped that with the Iron Mage protecting Hogwarts, the result would be different. This armor could very well become the nightmare of werewolves and giants.
The Iron Mage armor was his answer. Against giants, who lacked agility and relied on brute force, the reinforced alloy combined with laser and photon energy would devastate them. Against werewolves, who during the full moon lost access to magic and relied entirely on their claws and teeth, the armor would render them nearly harmless.
But Dudley wanted more than just defense. He wanted overwhelming offense.
On the left arm of the armor, he designed a retractable lightsaber, not literally from Star Wars, but close enough that it made his inner nerd proud. He enchanted the blade with high-temperature flames compressed into a stable form, a feat possible only through his system alchemical knowledge. The sword glowed with a fierce light and hummed softly when ignited.
He had even wanted to create an energy shield, something akin to what the Wakanda soldiers wielded in the Marvel films. Unfortunately, he lacked the precise scientific knowledge. Instead, he substituted it with a Protego Maxima barrier built into the gauntlet. Not as sleek, but effective enough to block a barrage of curses or claws.
Tony Stark, in the films, had become popular not just because of his genius but because he learned from failure. Dudley remembered the details when Rhodey arc reactor had been destroyed during civil war movie, Rhodey fell from high altitude and broke his leg. The next design? Tony added a parachute.
When his armor had once been stolen and killed a lot of people, later he reprogrammed it to respond only to his biometrics and locked it with personal codes. He constantly adapted, shifting from heavy shields to lightweight energy barriers, from crude prototypes to sleek perfection.
And of course, Tony was beloved because he had built his very first reactor in a cave with scraps, relying only on his 200 IQ and sheer will to survive.
But Dudley was not Tony Stark. He had no Jarvis, no advanced AI. He had no satellite networks, no cutting-edge Muggle industries backing him up. What he had was different: alchemical knowledge from Dumbledore through the game system, magical runes that enhanced durability and stored weapons, and a gamer system that let him know whether his armor had been successfully built or not, without killing himself in the process.
He spent days sketching blueprints, scribbling notes, listing every feature he remembered from the Marvel films and every enhancement he wanted to add. Some of them he had no idea how to achieve, but writing them down gave him goals.
---Light Saber---
They become marveled looking at the red gold iron man armor which had been completed. Dudley had not yet added repulsor or a weapon onto the ironman yet, but the Ironman armor could fly thanks to the rune.
"It looks...." no word come out from their mouth. Even Amelia Bones were in awe looking at the iron man armor.
But Dudley are busy sketching something on paper, Susan Bones hunched over looking at the paper which Dudley had drawn. She peered over his shoulder and frowned. "What is this, Dudley?" she asked, pointing at a drawing.
"That," Dudley replied, tapping the paper, "is the sword."
The word alone made everyone in the room pause. Sirius raised an eyebrow, his grin widening with curiosity. "A sword, huh? You know, Gryffindors are famous for their sword. What's a Hufflepuff like you doing adding one?"
Harry and Susan chuckled, and Dudley only smirked. "Well, honestly, one house is not enough to describe me. I could fit into Ravenclaw for my brains, Gryffindor for my guts, or even Slytherin for my cunning."
"Yikes," Sirius muttered dramatically. "Did you just compare yourself to a Slytherin? That's disgusting."
Everyone laughed at his exaggerated tone even Amelia smiled a bit, but Dudley grew serious for a moment. "To be fair, Sirius, even a Slytherin can be brave. Look at Madam Bones. She's a Hufflepuff, but she has Gryffindor bravery and Ravenclaw intelligence. A single label doesn't define who we are."
Amelia, who had been listening nearby, crossed her arms and looked away with a faint blush. "Don't drag me into your nonsense," she said curtly, though her faint smile betrayed her embarrassment.
Harry leaned forward. "All right, Dudley. Why add this sword? What's it for?"
Dudley's expression hardened. "It's a lightsaber. It's for fighting werewolves and cutting down giants or trolls."
Susan frowned. "Lightsaber? What's that supposed to mean?"
The others, equally lost except harry, stared at him. Dudley realized he had to explain.
"Lightsaber is a kind of Muggle weapon," he said carefully, as if introducing an alien concept. "It's basically a sword made of pure energy. The blade burns at over twenty-five thousand degrees Celsius. It can cut through metal like butter. That means even if we face a werewolf, their flesh and bones would be sliced apart the moment they touched the blade."
Silence followed. Susan eyes widened, while Sirius looked excited. Amelia muttered something about "is this possible?".
"Twenty-five thousand degrees?" said Harry, raising his brows, he knows about light saber but didn't know what temperature to achieve the effect. "That's hotter than dragon fire."
"Exactly," Dudley nodded. "And dragons are one of the few creatures even Death Eaters don't want to face unless they are in a group. With this blade, we can balance the odds."
"Sounds brilliant," Sirius said with a grin. "But also terrifying. You sure you won't chop your own arm off with that thing?"
Dudley smirked. "That's what the enchantments are for. The lightsaber will recognize its wielder."
Susan shuddered but said nothing.
The room fell into thought. Harry eventually broke the silence. "Dudley… you're really planning to use this against werewolves and giants?"
"Yes," Dudley said firmly. "Think about it. Werewolves are fast, but they lose magic during the full moon. They rely on their bodies. Giants are strong but slow. This armor gives us defense against both and now offense strong enough to cut them down. The Iron Mage armor won't beat Voldemort, but it can level the battlefield. It can save lives."
He paused, his tone softening. "I am preparing for a bad thing to happen, what would happen if that Dark Lord decided to attack Hogwarts, won't the children die because we weren't prepared?."
Harry exchanged glances with Susan and Sirius. For once, none of them had a joke to add. Dudley words struck them.
