Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 New Commission

Ankh showed some interest, picked up a request form, pushed aside the other miscellaneous tasks, and muttered, "Mission requirements... a team of one male and one female, with a reward of 3 million J!"

Thump... When Ankh saw this line of text, he felt his little heart pound. How could a mission of this level have such a reward?

Ankh wasn't unfamiliar with 3 million J missions, but those were rewards for combat and subjugation. What kind of client was so rich?!

Ankh's eyes lit up; it was the feeling of excitement!

Although as a kingdom idol, if he really put his mind to it and seriously cooperated with weekly reporters to be an idol, he would definitely earn a lot. But... he couldn't resist such a windfall mission!

Ankh slammed his hand on the table, held up the request form, and declared with certainty, "This is it!"

Mirajane curiously leaned her head over, looked at it for a couple of seconds, and asked, "Are you taking it because it pays a lot?"

Ankh dismissively pushed her head away and confidently said, "Less talk, let's go!"

"Oh, oh..."

And so, the spirited Ankh, confidently leading Mirajane, set off towards the client's location.

At the guild's main entrance, Cana, who had just returned, happened to brush past Ankh and Mirajane as they hurried out. She muttered in confusion, "Are those two teaming up?"

Erza walked over to her side, shrugged, and said, "Ankh is taking a new member of the guild, so they teamed up."

Cana was surprised for a moment, then nodded and said, "Brother Ankh is actually willing to team up with others... What kind of mission are they doing?"

Erza thought for a moment, then frowned and said, "The difficulty isn't high, but the reward is pretty good. I heard it's a full 3 million J."

Hearing this, Cana's face immediately turned green, and her expression crumbled as she blurted out, "That one male, one female mission?!"

Erza was startled by Cana's reaction and asked, "Is there something wrong with this mission?"

Cana's eyes seemed to ignite with a fire of gossip. She lowered her voice and chuckled, "That request has an additional requirement, written in very small print on the paper, making it hard to notice."

"That is... the male and female Mages who come should preferably be a pair of Mage lovers!"

Hearing this, Erza's expression also changed slightly.

So, did Ankh and Mirajane... not see it, or... pretend not to see it?

Hiss... Worth pondering... On the luxurious boulevard in the center of Magnolia City, two simply dressed individuals stood before the grand gate of a magnificent villa, staring wide-eyed at the house in front of them.

Even with Ankh's experience from two lifetimes, he had never seen such an extravagant building.

Snow-white walls, gilded patterns on the eaves and doorframes, a grand and spacious courtyard, and a footprint almost half the size of the guild!

Ankh had originally thought that after coming to the world of Fairy Tail, he was already quite well-off, until today, when he saw the lives of true wealthy people with his own eyes.

Just this house alone, Ankh couldn't afford it even if he sold his body now!

He was clearly a complete pauper in both lifetimes!

The joy of the rich, you simply cannot imagine... Ankh let out a sigh of life's difficulties and gently pressed the doorbell at the entrance.

He wondered how this world had developed, with daily necessities and such not lacking at all... As Ankh's mind wandered, someone had already approached and opened the courtyard gate.

The man in front of him had two very stylish mustaches, a suit, a tie, and white gloves—a typical gentleman's butler three-piece set.

The butler saw the two at the door, hesitated for a moment, then elegantly bowed slightly and asked, "Are you two, by any chance, Mages from Fairy Tail?"

Ankh nodded, as usual, raising the guild emblem on his forearm to prove his identity.

The butler was slightly relieved, then said with even more doubt, "Then... are you two sure you meet our request conditions?"

Ankh was slightly taken aback and exchanged glances with Mirajane. What conditions?

Isn't it just one male and one female?

Mirajane couldn't help but glance at Ankh's "alluring" profile and began to say, "He might think you're a woman..."

Whoosh!

Before she could finish her sentence, the keen Mirajane seemed to sense a strong aura of death... and Ankh's dark, murderous red eyes, wanting to bury her alive!

Mirajane quickly looked away, whistling and pretending nothing had happened.

The butler, having received Ankh's confirmation, looked at the two half-grown children in front of him with emotion, thinking with a hint of concern: Two teenagers, and they're already... that, that?

Was it that he couldn't keep up with social development, or that love education for children was too widespread in today's society?

However, Ankh, who hadn't seen the additional condition about 'Mage lovers,' looked at the hesitant butler in front of him, puzzled, and asked, "Sir, are you worried about our abilities?"

The butler heard Ankh's slightly displeased tone, immediately understood what kind of person he was, and quickly replied, "Of course not. Since your guild sent you, we naturally won't worry too much."

As a popular new idol, the butler was naturally aware of Ankh's name and understood his work capabilities very well.

Although he was a teenager, Ankh's mission activity during this period was no less than that of his senior Mages.

Ankh's expression softened a little upon hearing the butler's explanation, and he said, "Can we go in now?"

The butler quickly opened the door and respectfully said, "Of course, please."

Ankh nodded and walked into the courtyard, with Mirajane following closely behind, carrying their luggage.

Mirajane secretly observed the butler leading the way in front and whispered to Ankh, "Why is he so wary, and why won't he explain the mission details on the request form?"

Ankh calmly looked straight ahead and patiently explained, "Erza said that most missions that can only be verbally described are infiltration missions and are not suitable for public disclosure."

"Infiltration?" Mirajane nodded thoughtfully. The work of Mages was indeed varied and strange.

Infiltration missions that clients were willing to pay the guild for were mostly private matters that their country found inconvenient or inappropriate to handle publicly.

Such as palace affairs, spies in the guard, etc., these were all infiltration missions that the guild could accept.

If Ankh and Mirajane were to disguise themselves as ordinary people to protect dignitaries or assassinate terrorists, it should not be difficult for their duo.

Ankh couldn't help but smile; he seemed to see the glittering 3 million J waving at him!

The butler led the two, lost in their thoughts, into the villa. After passing through the luxuriously decorated living room, he brought them to a door, knocked softly, and said, "General, the two Mages have arrived."
