Chapter 5 - Note to self. Don’t do dares

Our next amazing stop is a small, boring town called Starkville.

For some reason, Grandpa wanted to come here all summer.

I don't know why it's nothing great; it's just a city full of stupid records.

For example, the world's largest aquarium. They also have the world's largest hot dog and many more. I find it stupid and boring. But he's nice enough to take us during the summer, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

Once we stopped, Grandpa left to get a Motel room, which I'm excited about. A chance to slip out of the Rust Bucket for a night.

I looked at Gwen. "Want to go look around?"

"Really? I thought you said they're stupid."

"Oh, they are. But why not look at them while we're here?"

"Sure. Why not. Nothing better to do anyway."

.

Our first exhibit was a Jackolooe exhibit. The Jekolope is such a mythical horned hare. It is unclear whether it exists or not.

If this were my original world, I would confidently say no. But in this world, it is incomprehensible. Maybe this is an alien, an ancient, mutated being. Maybe a Kree experiment, who knows?

Having handed the tickets to the controller, who was also the city's mayor, we went inside.

The exhibition was clearly fake, as there were only stuffed hares with badly attached deer antlers.

In general, nothing interesting. Then we went to the following exhibits. After a couple of hours, we almost finished our tour of the city.

Despite some doubts, Gwen and I had a good time. We took quite a few photos and had a lot of fun.

We were now entering the last remaining attraction.

It looked like an ordinary barn. Inside, there was just a huge heap of signs of all sorts forbidding you to touch or photograph the exhibit.

When we got to the end of the barn, there was a huge banner that said "THIS IS." Then the banner was raised, and the exhibit itself appeared behind it.

It was a giant ball of rubber strips. Gwen was clearly disappointed, and I knew what his secret was. The alien of the Nosedeenians' race was locked inside.

.

I looked around at the half-destroyed town with Gwen and Grandpa right after Megawatt shot a soda can at us.

How did the little guy get loose?

"I bet you couldn't pick that huge ball up."

"You're on!"

Then you can guess the rest.

I snapped out of my thinking and bashing of myself when grandpa suddenly ended up in the air held by his underwear.

"Let him go!"

I dialed XLR8, and this little annoying alien and I kept appearing and disappearing all over town as I chased it all over, but just barely missed every single time as it turned into electricity or dove into something electrical.

I finally caught it while moving fast, which was bad, then it touched my Omnitrix symbol, and I got forced out of (XLR8)

I stumbled and bounced many times before finally stopping.

I picked my head up off the ground and spat out a bunch of dirt.

"Not cool."

I stood up sore and looked around, confused.

"Oh yeah! I'm awesome!"

I looked over at Gwen, jumping and celebrating.

"What did you do?"

"Used Science to stop the alien when you and your aliens couldn't."

The Ground started sparking energy everywhere.

I shook my head. "No, you didn't. The ground is just one big conductor."

"Oh no. It's looking for places to come out of."

A bunch of megawatts shot out of telephone film, boost, and anything it could find, and started causing way more mayhem than before.

We dodged and moved as quickly as we could to get out of the way.

It finally stopped, but that didn't mean we could calm down, as that wasn't a good thing.

Suddenly, the giant planetarium came to life and started walking away.

"Look what you did."

"You can't blame me for this. You are the one who threw the ball!"

"You are the one who said I bet you couldn't. You know that makes me do it."

"So that's my fault you can not take a challenge?"

"Yes. Because you made the challenge."

"You accepted it."

"Kids. We don't have time for this, we'll go ahead and cut it off wherever it's going."

I huffed and turned towards the rest bucket, instantly smiling and bursting out laughing at what the Megawatts had written on the side of it.

"U Are Lame… I love it!"

"Come on. It's not that funny. And the grammar and the spelling are horrendous."

The mayor walked up next to us and looked at their artwork. "I reckon they'll head for the big Hydroelectric dam to power up.

After that, they'll wipe out the next town, and so on, and so on.

They think it's funny.

Yep, Megawatts got a real twisted sense of humor."

"Tell me about it."

I saw Gwen look up at the giant bowl on the roof and spoke quickly, remembering how to stop them.

"We need that bowl down if you don't mind."

Gwen grunted. "I was going to say that."

"You snooze, you lose."

Grandpa looked at us. "What's your guys' plan?"

.

I floated on a flaming piece of rock above the Dam.

"Okay. Two Megawatts walk into a Battery factory."

The gigantic planetarium stopped, hit the dam, and seemed to look up at me.

"I see I got your attention.

My hand ignited with fire. "Unfortunately, I don't have time for the rest of the joke."

I fired a heavy stream of flames at the machine and watched it slowly melt.

When it was just a pile of metal, they all jumped out.

"Hey, there you guys are. Hey there, you guys are.

Now let's play catch. I'm it."

I dove down towards the blanket, covering something, and jumped off the flaming rebel, and dove underneath the blanket.

They followed me, and I went around to the backside and set the Bowl upright.

Grandpa pulled the Blanket off to reveal them all trapped inside.

"Awe. I love it.. but it still needs a little."

I breathed out fire and reformed the glad to form a ball.

"And perfect."

I turned back and looked at Grandpa and Gwen. "Do you think that'll make up for trashing in their town?"

Grandpa shook his head. "Probably not. But it couldn't hurt."

"Watch. Four Arms."

I walked over and picked it up. "Now let's load it up and bring it back."

.

The next morning, we got up, and the town was already starting to rebuild and the new display. The world's largest lightbulb. It was up in the center of town.

After we made sure they were good, we got back in the Rust Bucket and got back on the road to the next adventure."
