Chapter 27 - Arrival of the Sect’s Reinforcements

Thunder roared across the heavens.

The skies above the Ironspine Mountains rippled as streaks of azure light tore through the clouds, descending like a rain of falling stars.

Disciples and rogue cultivators who lingered around the outskirts of the ruins looked up in terror and awe as hundreds of glowing sword shadows appeared overhead — the unmistakable mark of a large-scale Azure Cloud Sect formation.

"The Sect's reinforcements… they're already here!" someone shouted, their voice trembling.

Within moments, the air was filled with spiritual pressure so immense that it made the mountains themselves groan. Three leading figures emerged at the forefront of the radiant formation — each carrying an aura that could crush lesser cultivators to their knees.

Elder Mu Fan descended first, his sharp eyes scanning the area below like a hawk. His robes fluttered, and a faint ring of blue light surrounded him, stabilizing the turbulent qi in the air.

Behind him came Elder Mei Hua, her crimson robe embroidered with lotus flames that shimmered with terrifying heat. She was serene and graceful, yet her mere presence distorted the air like a mirage.

Last came Elder Jian Tong, the oldest among them, holding a bronze sword that hummed softly with ancient power. His gaze swept across the mountain range, calm yet wary.

They landed near the entrance of the ruin where Tian Shen and his companions waited, weary but alert.

Elder Mu Fan's expression softened slightly as he spotted the young disciples. "You all survived. Good. The Sect Master was right to send us."

Hao Feng bowed deeply. "Elder, the guardian spirit was awakened. We faced several dangers within, but…" he glanced toward Tian Shen, "…Shen was the one who stabilized the chaos when the ruins reacted."

At that, the elders' gazes naturally shifted toward him.

Tian Shen stood a few steps away, his black robe torn and stained with faint blood. Yet his posture was steady, his eyes calm. A faint silver sheen still flickered in his pupils when the light caught them — gone as quickly as it came.

Elder Mei Hua narrowed her gaze. "His qi feels… different. Refined, yet unstable. What happened?"

Liang Rui spoke up respectfully. "He attempted to absorb an ancient beast bloodline found within the ruins. The backlash nearly destroyed his meridians, but he managed to survive."

A flicker of shock crossed Mei Hua's face. "Absorbing beast bloodlines? That technique was lost thousands of years ago. Even mortals touching it is reckless…"

Elder Jian Tong raised his sword slightly, the tip glowing faintly as he probed Tian Shen's aura. His expression shifted. "Strange. His essence carries traces of both qi and something beyond it. It's faint, but…" He hesitated, lowering his sword. "It's almost like time itself bends slightly around him."

Elder Mu Fan's eyes widened slightly before he masked it with a calm expression. "He has always been… different. Since the day he lit eight elemental affinities, the heavens have kept a close eye on him."

Just then, a deep hum echoed through the air.

Above them, the clouds parted once more — and a brilliant beam of azure descended like a pillar of light.

From it emerged a single figure, robed in twilight blue, radiating a presence that silenced the wind itself.

Sect Master Lin Yuan had arrived.

The moment his feet touched the ground, every cultivator — elder and disciple alike — bowed deeply. The surrounding air grew still as spiritual energy bent to his will.

Lin Yuan's eyes, deep and calm as the ocean, swept across the scene. "Rise," he said softly, yet his voice carried across the mountain range like thunder.

His gaze fell upon Tian Shen. For a brief instant, a ripple of emotion flickered in his eyes — curiosity, surprise, perhaps even recognition.

"So, you are Tian Shen."

Tian Shen stepped forward and bowed. "Disciple greets the Sect Master."

Lin Yuan studied him silently for a moment, as if reading the flow of his very soul. "You have stirred something that has slept since the age of ancient chaos. The bloodline you touched was never meant for mortal vessels, yet… it did not destroy you."

"I failed to absorb it completely," Tian Shen admitted quietly, "but something remains. It still responds when I cultivate."

"Then it has marked you," Lin Yuan said. "A beast bloodline of this level does not fade. It chooses its vessel — and its test has only begun."

His tone shifted, becoming commanding. "Elders, secure the perimeter. The other sects and unaffiliated cultivators will have sensed this disturbance. No one outside Azure Cloud must gain access to the inner sanctum."

"Yes, Sect Master!" the elders answered in unison, spreading out in streaks of light to form a vast protective barrier.

As they worked, Lin Yuan turned back to Tian Shen. His eyes softened slightly. "You have done well, Tian Shen. You've gone beyond what anyone in the Qi Awakening realm should be capable of. But remember — power gained without understanding is as dangerous as it is alluring."

Tian Shen met his gaze steadily. "I understand, Sect Master."

Lin Yuan nodded. "Good. Rest for now. Once the ruin is fully stabilized, we shall see what secrets it hides — and whether your awakening is part of a greater design."

As the Sect's protective barrier spread across the Ironspine Mountains, the once-chaotic energy field began to calm. Yet beneath the earth, unseen by any, a faint pulse answered Tian Shen's heartbeat — a whisper of crimson and silver that coiled within his dantian.

The beast bloodline had not faded. It had accepted him.

And in the heavens above, a faint crack shimmered — unseen by all but the Sect Master, whose gaze lingered on the sky.

"The order of the realms is shifting," Lin Yuan murmured softly to himself. "And this child… may very well be the fracture that sets it all in motion."
