Chapter 87 - Chapter 87: Mei Terumi Bounties!

"Got it."

After a short talk, Yorin understood Nagato's state of mind. "Perfect. I'm about to lead Akatsuki on an operation. You come along—you'll see for yourself."

"An Akatsuki operation… specifically what?" Nagato wanted in, but not blind. He needed to know what he was stepping into.

"Specifically? The Land of Rain Daimyo." Uchiha Yorin smiled. "I've got a buddy in the Mist—he turned the Fourth Mizukage into a plush toy with brain-hack. I figure we can do the same. Thoughts?"

Nagato: "…"

He paused a few seconds, then blurted, "What the hell?"

Yorin: "Nagato, you really don't get it."

Seeing Nagato's "I don't get it but I'm shook" face, Yorin sighed. "If you don't get it, say less. You'll feel it soon enough."

Nagato still wanted to quip, but in the end he said nothing—just nodded.

Regicide and noble-smashing—that was a first for him. He'd join with a learner's mindset.

If you're learning, watch more, think more, talk less—leave decisions to Uchiha Yorin.

Yorin: "Oh right—Ame's wired up now, yeah?"

Nagato: "Yes. Do you need equipment?"

Yorin: "Yes, yes—TVs… a TV… oh, there? Right on time. Let's go watch."

Nagato noticed that when Yorin said this, Mei Terumi's face suddenly went very dark. No idea why.

Not his problem—if Yorin wanted to watch, they'd watch.

As said before, the shinobi world sits between a second and a one-hundredth industrial revolution. If laptops exist, TVs are a given.

Production capacity is quirky, though; in Ame the TV vibe is very 1980s—few sets, everyone gathers after work to watch together.

It wasn't quite time for the evening news. There's no satellite tech—Ame only gets a few channels.

Thankfully, the ninja cats deliver. When they say "worldwide," they mean it.

Two channel flips later, there she was—Mei Terumi, on camera, shouting:

"Yagura Karatachi! You hear me? You're garbage! Get over here so I can slap your face and tear out your Tailed Beast!"

Uchiha Yorin: "Hahahahaha…"

While Yorin laughed himself silly, everyone looked at Mei.

Her face was scarlet—humiliation beyond words—scratching at the floor with her toes like she could gouge out a three-bedroom flat. She wanted to kill Uchiha Yorin and then herself.

On the surface she gave a stiff smile; inside she cursed him to the heavens:

"Uchiha Yorin! I'll fry you then kill you—then fry and kill you again—until there's nothing left!!"

Meanwhile, in the Mizukage's office, Kiri's top brass watched the same footage: Mei flipping the table and cursing.

On screen, Mei was ferocious—she said everything you can say and what you shouldn't.

Obito: "What the hell?!"

As he blanked, the other Kiri leaders slammed desks and shouted:

"Outrageous!" The Hōzuki clan head roared. "What's with that girl—how can she tell the truth?!"

"Hmm?" ×10

Everyone turned to stare at him.

He hurried to clarify: "I mean—this is state secrets! How can she leak them freely?"

"Hmm." ×10

They let it go.

Then the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura the pseudo-loli, slammed the desk:

"Enough. From today, declare Mei Terumi a rogue-nin. Full pursuit. Kill on sight!"

After that, the masked man at his side bent to whisper in his ear—

Yagura added:

"And post a bounty at the exchange—S-class rogue rates."

Watching this, the other elders frowned in unison. Some Mizukage—clearly the masked man's puppet.

A few hotheads nearly flipped tables—others dragged them back. They traded looks—and firmed up their resolve for gekokujō.

Damn you, Yagura. You promised reform—to end the Blood Mist. But your word means nothing.

A politician breaking promises is one thing—your voters' AR-16s don't match the army's M1A1s. But this is a ninja village!

Even if you're a perfect jinchūriki—a Kage—if we swarm you, will you kill us all?

Wait and see—when we're ready, we'll mutiny, break your "third leg," and sell you to a monastery! Ke-ke-ke!

And so the hunt for Mei issued forth: S-class rogue, 10 million ryō at the exchange—10,000 for "defection," 9,990,000 for leaking Kiri secrets.

Uchiha Yorin: "Alright—let's go."

After watching several replays of Mei cussing out Yagura, Yorin finally looked satisfied and gave the order: "Next stop—the daimyo's mansion!"

He slung an arm around Mei's shoulders. "It's on you now, Mei-chan."

Mei Terumi: "…Mm."

She nodded quietly—then thought it over.

If she couldn't crush Uchiha Yorin in the short term, that fire needed venting—she'd vent it on the Land of Rain daimyo's guard.

"Alright."

"I'll be the one to crush Akatsuki's enemies! Heh-heh… heh-heh-heh-heh…"

Her smile cracked a bit. The others felt a chill—and sincere sympathy for anyone who had to face Mei Terumi next.
