Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: Fighting Spirit

If it were most people, one look at Uchiha Yorin in this state and they'd already be crying, "Don't come any closer!"—morale shattered.

But Pakura is, after all, a war hero of Sunagakure. Faced with a powerful foe and an unfavorable situation, her fighting spirit only blazed higher!

Pakura: "—Your blade is sharp, but mine has never been dull!"

Stomping down with a crack that fractured the ground, Yorin shot forward like a ground-effect craft at terrifying speed. Pakura steadied her breath, set herself to fight, and unleashed her specialty—Scorch Release: Extremely Steaming Murder!

Orbs of scorching heat circled her as she drew a kunai, ready to clash with Yorin and drain him dry with Scorch Release.

Like Yorin, she's a close-quarters type!

"You're strong—but your arrogance is your biggest flaw! Fall, Uchiha Yorin!"

Pakura's plan: "That Lightning Armor can probably eat a few Scorch orbs, but it's fine—at first contact, I'll fire everything and blast him into the sky—wait, what the hell?!"

She'd just finalized the plan and was about to execute when something appeared behind Yorin—a cold, rapidly spinning metal merit wheel-like array.

—Kunai slaved to chakra threads. And this time there were thirty-two of them!

Under Yorin's control, these lightning-sheathed, Chidori-blade kunai shot out like extensions of his fingers—smashing into Pakura's orbiting Scorch orbs.

Lightning-plus-fire detonations left Pakura sooty and singed—and worse, her proud Extremely Steaming Murder had been hard-countered.

"Damn it—fine! In a straight blade fight I won't necessarily lose!" There wasn't time to seal more techniques. Pakura gritted her teeth, pressed the attack, twin kunai in hand to take Yorin one-on-one.

Guess what.

She still couldn't beat him.

Speed, strength, technique—Yorin didn't even need to form a thirty-two-kunai sword array; with Thunder–Fire dual blades alone he smothered Pakura, leaving her gasping.

Three exchanges and Yorin had read several openings. A short-range Flicker—the world spun behind Pakura—and a reverse strike—

Uchiha Two-Sword Style · Pommel Strike.

Thunk—the pommel jabbed for the back of her head; the pretty sister's eyes rolled white and she crumpled—

No—Substitution. But it didn't matter—did she think her chakra would fool a Sharingan?

Almost simultaneously, the "real" Pakura lunging from the flank to ambush Yorin went slack-eyed and toppled to the mud.

Another reverse pommel. This time—her true body.

The bout between Yorin and Pakura flared and ended in the blink of an eye. Yorin won clean; Pakura lost completely—leaving Mei Terumi absolutely stunned.

She swore a blue streak in her heart and cursed Kiri's intel department to die alone.

How the hell was "Konoha's Flame Claw" this strong?!

Wasn't he "just a jōnin"? This wasn't even "elite jōnin"—this was a casual Kage-level showing!

Pakura had just gone fifty–fifty with her—Yorin one-shotted her!

And not a kill—captured alive!

If he could handle Pakura that easily, wouldn't he mop the floor with her too?

And why alive? If he wanted intel, a corpse would do, wouldn't it?

Could it be—he plans to do that to Pakura?! Damn it—New Konoha Times said Uchiha Yorin was a ravenous lecher who wouldn't spare even an old bba like Tsunade; I thought it was tabloid trash—turns out it's true!

Imagining Pakura swapping from "Naruto kunoichi" to "defeated anti-demon ninja," Mei shivered—with envy—I mean with fear.

Right then, Uchiha Yorin turned and looked her way.

Mei swallowed and reflexively took half a step back, tightening her grip on her kunai.

In this messed-up world, the only warmth left was the steel in your hand.

Then she heard Yorin sigh, dissatisfied—then saw the eager light in his eyes land on her.

With Pakura down, Yorin felt cheated. He hadn't even warmed up—she fell too fast.

He hadn't used dual-hand Monstrous Strength or 25× output—not even close. Compared to Nagato, she was disappointing.

Yorin: "So much for 'Scorch Release Pakura'—nothing special. A few moves and she's out. Not fun at all.

Let her purge the poison and heal up and I'll have a real match with her… As for now—there's still a Fifth Mizukage over there."

Yes, "Mizukage" was mostly water weight—an interim product. But a Kage is still a Kage; maybe she'd give him a new thrill.

Yorin prepared to vent his pent-up battle urge… on Mei Terumi.

Under that beast-like gaze, Mei shivered again.

Uchiha Yorin: "So—will you surrender nicely, or do I have to make you?"

Mei swallowed. "I'm not alone on this op. Other Kiri teams will be here soon. When they arrive, you might not be able to kill us all—alone!"

Uchiha Yorin: "Hahahahahaha…"

Hearing the tough-on-top, timid-inside line made him laugh. "Good one, woman—decided. I'll keep you as a pet—have you talk for me every day. Very soothing."

Mei Terumi: "Soothe—don't you look down on me!"

Professional to the core, she snapped from shy to furious in a blink. With a roar, she opened with Water Release: Hiding in Mist Technique!

Shikkotsu's marshes already lay under heavy fog—perfect for Kiri tactics. With Mei's exhale, it turned to pitch—you couldn't see your own hand.

Don't mind the bold words—the method was cautious: blanket the battlefield and move unseen.

It's classic Mist doctrine—pair it with Momochi Zabuza's silent killing and it shines.

But inexperience is inexperience. Against the Sharingan—this trick is nothing—

Yorin: "Left—right—overhead—whoa, look at that, quite a crowd."

While he dropped Pakura, Kiri's other assassination squads finished setting the board!

Jōnin, jōnin, jōnin—three jōnin leaders, a mass of elite chūnin as the spine—Kiri had committed a strike group over a hundred-strong!

Hell—there were old acquaintances: Kiri sword specialists he'd crossed paths with pre-cheat, nearly Seven Swordsmen material!

Kiri truly valued killing Pakura. Perhaps Scorch Release countered Water too cleanly, so they refused to let her live. But she didn't survive round two—Yorin would carry this wave alone!

[Emergency Quest · Mist Onslaught! (Beyond the sea lies the enemy!) Objective: Repel all incoming Kiri shinobi! Reward: Water Release]

Uchiha Yorin: "Beautiful. Heh-heh… hahahahahahaha!!"

Faced with a seemingly bad situation, he didn't panic—he laughed, delighted:

"Good. The more, the better—more bodies to cut!"
