Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 — New World, Same Bad Luck

Jake woke up to the feeling of weight.

Something or someone was pressing down on him. His head pounded like he'd been hit by both a truck and a hangover. The air smelled faintly of lavender and… sunlight?

He groaned, trying to piece together where he was. His bed didn't feel like his bed. It was softer, warmer, and definitely wasn't smelling of his release.

Before he could open his eyes, a voice snapped at him.

"Wake up, you dummy! You're gonna be late for the entrance exam!"

Jake blinked. His vision focused just in time to see a girl sitting on top of him, directly on his stomach, pinning him like a cat that refused to move.

"Wha—?! Who—?!"

The girl's blonde hair glowed in the morning light as she blinked down at him.

Jake dragon rose instantly due to morning wood and the girl sitting on him, it grew so big it poke the girl.

It took her about half a second to realize their position then er face turned bright red.

She yelped, sprang off him like she'd touched lava, and stumbled toward the door, sputtering nonsense.

"Y-you idiot! Don't just... just lie there! Get up already, big brother!"

She bolted out of the room, slamming the door behind her.

Jake sat up slowly, his brain catching up several seconds too late. The room around him was completely unfamiliar, fancy furniture, clean air, not a single hard socks can be seen in sight.

He rubbed his temples. "...What the actual hell is going on?"

Before he could make sense of anything, a faint ding echoed in his ears. A red, transparent panel flickered into view before his eyes.

Host has successfully transmigrated.

Checking for side effects... none found.

Transmigration completed successfully.

Jake blinked. Once. Twice.

"…You've gotta be kidding me."

He rubbed his eyes, but the floating text didn't vanish. It shimmered stubbornly, waiting for him to catch up.

"Transmigrated?" he said under his breath. "As in… those stories?"

His brain scrambled through everything that had happened last night.

The computer, watching Bonnie Red, the noises. Then him feeling a warm wet sensation on his dick as if someone is sucking on it. That's probably just a dream. Then blackout...

"So I died while being a degenerate," he said slowly, "and got reborn into another person. That's… actually on brand."

Before he could process any further, a voice called from outside his door.

"Jake! You're going to be late again!"

He startled. "I'm coming!"

Muttering to himself, he stared at the red panel again. "If I'm stuck in someone else's body, I should at least figure out what I'm working with."

He pointed at the air dramatically. "Status!"

The panel flashed again:

Name: Jake Arven

Race: Human

Age: 19

Affiliation: Brightcrest Academy (Applicant)

Skill: ??? (Locked)

He was about to scroll further when the voice outside shouted again. "Jake!"

"Yeah, yeah!" he yelled back, waving at the panel. It vanished with a soft chime.

Jake hurried to what looked like the bathroom, shaking his head. The place was too clean, too expensive-looking, even the soap smelled like privilege.

He splashed cold water on his face, staring at the reflection in the mirror.

The guy staring back at him wasn't the same one from his old world, taller, sharper features, hair that actually behaved and a freaking 182 cm.

"Okay," he muttered. "Definitely not Kansas. Or my apartment."

After grabbing the neatly folded clothes left on the bed, he dressed quickly. Some kind of uniform dark jacket, silver trim, way fancier than anything he'd owned.

He took a deep breath, squared his shoulders, and stepped toward the door.

"Entrance exam, huh?" he said with a grin. "Guess I'm about to find out just how cursed this new life really is."

Jake took a deep breath and opened the door, trying to look like someone who knew what they were doing.

The scent of breakfast drifted up the stairs eggs, toast, something that smelled suspiciously like coffee but wasn't quite right.

Downstairs, two people were seated at the dining table. The girl from earlier, the one who'd woken him up with zero sense of personal space, and a woman who could only be her mother. His mother now, apparently.

Jake froze halfway down the stairs. The woman glanced up elegant, kind-eyed, and effortlessly composed. Even with his disoriented brain, Jake couldn't miss the aura of mature grace she carried. Yep… total fantasy-world milf mom energy, he thought.

He quickly bowed his head. "G-Good morning."

Both women blinked in surprise.

The mother tilted her head slightly. "Good morning, Jake." Her tone was warm but curious, as if she was trying to confirm this wasn't a trick.

His "sister" leaned forward, squinting. "You're… being polite today?"

Jake felt sweat prick the back of his neck. Crap. Did I mess up already?

He laughed awkwardly. "Just… trying something new."

To his relief, neither of them pressed further. He slid into the seat across from them, acting casual as he started eating. Thankfully, the food wasn't too alien, eggs were eggs in every universe, apparently.

He focused on chewing and nodding, copying their table manners like a spy blending into enemy territory. When the meal ended, he stood to leave.

"Thanks for breakfast," he said automatically, slinging his bag over his shoulder.

The mother rose from her chair and touched his arm gently. Her smile was kind, but her eyes looked distant, almost sad.

"Just do your best today, alright? Don't think too much about... anything else."

Jake blinked. "Uh, sure. I'll try."

She nodded and stepped back. "That's all I ask."

As he stepped outside, the morning sun hit his face, warm and strange. The streets were already bustling, banners fluttered overhead, pointing toward a grand plaza in the distance.

BRIGHTCREST ACADEMY ENTRANCE EXAM —> THIS WAY!

Jake exhaled. "Guess this exam's kind of a big deal," he muttered, following the crowd of excited students and nervous parents.

He adjusted the strap of his bag, trying to look confident. Inside, though, his thoughts spun in every direction.

A new world, a new body, an entrance exam, and a family that thinks I'm someone else…

He grinned weakly. "Well, at least it's just an exam not a war."
