Chapter 44 - Race

When Evelyn finally pulled herself away from her thoughts and went into the kitchen, her stomach grumbled, reminding her that she hadn't eaten since morning.

She opened the fridge and pulled out the leftover takeout from two nights ago. Garlic noodles, grilled chicken, and some salad that had seen better days.

She wasn't picky and tossed the chicken into the pan, reheated the noodles, and stood there eating straight from the counter.

Fortunately she had no problem reheating food. She just couldn't make it from scratch.

When she was done eating, she washed off the plate and headed for the shower.

Steam filled the bathroom as she let the water run over her shoulders.

By the time she stepped out, towel wrapped around her, her pulse had already picked up pace. It wasn't nerves, it was excitement.

She put on black jeans, leather jacket, a face mask and boots. She pulled her hair up in a ponytail, grabbed her keys, slid on a pair of gloves and headed out.
