Chapter 6 - # Chapter 6: Zoe Town

Morning sunlight shone on Ethan Lane's face, making his eyelids twitch. He then woke up. Ethan Lane opened his eyes and struggled to get up, but the pain from his body and his completely numb hands made his efforts fail.

He sensed the almost empty Spiritual Qi within him and sighed, "I survived, after all. But these injuries will probably take more than a day or two to recover. By the way, didn't I kill those four animals? Let's make use of your remaining value!"

Ethan Lane struggled to move forward with his one good left leg, enduring the intense pain in his body. He crawled for half an hour over a distance of a dozen meters. Looking at the animal he had beaten beyond recognition with his fists, Ethan Lane tilted his head and thought, "This thing looks so much like a Chariot-type Honkai Beast from Honkai Impact 3rd, both in its attack method and appearance. Could I have transmigrated into the Honkai world? Then are those purple things Honkai Energy? It must be, otherwise it wouldn't be so violent and have such a strong destructive ability on the human body. This fits the description of Honkai Energy."

"Luckily I have the Dao Yan Record. But this Honkai world has no Spiritual Qi at all, so I can't use any spells. I still haven't figured out how to use the Spiritual Qi converted from Honkai Energy, other than to strengthen my body and physical fitness. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been in such a pathetic state against just four Honkai Beasts yesterday."

Looking at the Honkai Beast in front of him, Ethan Lane opened his mouth and bit down hard, venting all the pain he had suffered on the beast's corpse. The scene was filled with chilling chewing sounds.

By the time he finished eating the Honkai Beast, his injuries had initially stabilized, and the wounds were not so painful anymore. He believed that after eating the remaining three Honkai Beasts, even if he couldn't fully recover, he would at least regain some mobility.

He continued to crawl towards another Honkai Beast. This time, his speed was much faster, and soon he began to feast. "*Burp!* I can't, I'm stuffed. Let me digest a bit." After a while, he continued to gnaw.

Soon, all three Honkai Beasts were eaten by him. He had finally recovered some mobility. Although his hands with countless fractures had not yet recovered, at least his external injuries had healed, and his broken leg had been prioritized for recovery. Now he could walk, albeit a bit slowly.

He slowly moved towards the cave. Finally, back in the cave, he sat down with a long sigh of relief. Then he closed his eyes and began to absorb Honkai Energy. Although the concentration of Honkai Energy was particularly low during the day, it was better than nothing, right?

Several hours passed slowly. Ethan Lane's ears twitched; he heard some noises. "Could it be more Honkai Beasts? In my current state, I probably can't run." Ethan Lane gritted his teeth, stood up from the ground, and secretly peeked from the cave entrance.

At the place where he had killed the Honkai Beasts, several armed men were standing there, pointing and talking about the empty shells of the Honkai Beasts he had eaten. Ethan Lane's eyes widened. He had finally seen living people after being in this world for more than ten days.

But he didn't know the identities of these people. If they weren't good people, he would be screwed if he called out. He lay quietly at the entrance of the cave. Their conversation was faintly carried by the wind, but he couldn't hear clearly because they were too far away. So he gathered Spiritual Qi to his ears, and finally, he could hear their conversation clearly.

"...&¥%¥&*" A string of foreign language came through, leaving Ethan Lane completely baffled. The language seemed a bit like Russian, but he wasn't sure. He gritted his teeth and thought, "Forget it, what will be will be. In my current state, staying in this wasteland is just asking for death. I might as well follow them to a human town."

So he opened his mouth and shouted, "Hey! Help me!" At first, the group of people didn't notice, but after he shouted a few more times, they finally heard him. Their first reaction was not to answer, but to raise their guns and aim around. Seeing this, Ethan Lane continued to shout a few more times. They finally confirmed the source of the voice and slowly approached the cave where he was, with their guns raised. Soon they saw Ethan Lane. One of them, a man who looked like a burly European, said, "%*...(Who are you?)%...¥" Ethan Lane's mouth twitched. He thought, "Can you please speak Chinese?"

Then they saw Ethan Lane's tattered clothes and his hands bent at an unnatural angle. The man hesitated for a moment and lowered his gun, then wanted to walk towards him. But another man stopped him and said something to him. This man replied with a few words and pointed at Ethan Lane. Finally, the man who had stopped him nodded in agreement.

The man walked towards him and asked a few questions. Ethan Lane frowned and replied in English, "Sorry, I can't follow you." Fortunately, he was a computer science major in college, and poor English would have made it impossible to study.

The man was stunned for a moment, then said in English with a strong accent, "Who are you and why are you here?"

Ethan Lane stumbled through an English explanation of his experience. The man's eyes widened as he listened, and finally, he interrupted, "You mean, you killed all these monsters?" "Yes, I did."

Ethan Lane's answer surprised him greatly. He quickly turned back and shouted a few words to his companions. These people hurried over. The man told them about the incident, and they all looked at Ethan Lane in amazement.

Since they didn't speak English, Ethan Lane briefly explained the matter with the man's translation. After hearing it, they all gave him a thumbs-up. This gesture was internationally understood, so Ethan Lane smiled and replied, "Thanks. But can you take me away?"

"Sure, no problem. By the way, my name is Kakarov. I'll take you away from here right now. Gosh, I don't know how to describe you. You look only a few years old, yet you can kill so many monsters on your own. You're practically a superman! Oh! Mr. Superman, do you need me to carry you?" Kakarov said.

"Thank you, I just have some special abilities," Ethan Lane replied. "Special abilities? Are you a Valkyrie?" Kakarov continued. Ethan Lane's mouth twitched. "I guess you could say that."

"Oh, I never thought I'd meet such a young Valkyrie. Haha, thank you so much. If it weren't for your existence, humanity might have been completely wiped out. Speaking of which, I was saved by a Valkyrie when I was a child. Ah, when my daughter grows up, I'll definitely send her to be a Valkyrie!" Kakarov continued as he walked.

Ethan Lane sighed at his words and thought, "Send his own daughter to be a Valkyrie? Heh, if you knew the true face of Schicksal, would you still think so?" But he couldn't say this to him. Even if he did, he might not believe it, because according to the setting of Honkai Impact 3rd, Schicksal was the supreme savior of humanity in the eyes of the common people.

Soon, the group arrived at several snowmobiles parked on the side. Kakarov placed him on a snowmobile and took him towards their settlement. The snowmobiles were very fast, and in less than an hour, they arrived at a small town called Zoe. They quickly entered the town and headed towards Kakarov's home.
