Chapter 1 – Beast War? Attacked by Conspiracy!

Grumble... Grumble...

The ground trembled as thousands of beasts rushed toward the city walls, their roars shaking the heavens. From the front gate, waves of magical and physical attacks blasted outward — beams of light, bursts of flame, and arrows of energy streaked across the battlefield.

The city's citizens had already been evacuated to a nearby village for safety, just in case the walls fell. Within the city, warriors of various cultivations gathered at their positions. The Knights Guild led the first line of defense, facing the furious onslaught of the beast horde.

Among them stood Li Cheng, a high-ranking cultivator and commander of the knights. His spear flashed with lightning as he clashed head-on with a massive beast, cutting down enemies with calm precision.

"Hold the line!" he shouted, his voice echoing over the chaos.

Behind the frontline, the city lord's spies scrambled to uncover the cause of the sudden attack. A tall, sharp-eyed man with brown hair and a scarred face entered the command post.

"Lord Li Cheng," said the Knights Guild Master, Lang Zi Long, "reports say the Kyushu Forest warriors have activated their summoning formations."

"Kyushu Forest…?" Li Cheng frowned. "Then this isn't just a random beast tide. Prepare the Seven Cities' fleet and ready the battle formations. The wave will hit hard."

Moments later, the ground quaked again. A second wave of beasts, larger than before, charged toward the city at terrifying speed.

"All rank-nine warriors, strengthen the defense!" Zi Long commanded.

The warriors shifted into formation, their auras linking together. Formation Masters along the walls poured their energy into strengthening the city barrier. The battle raged — magic clashing against magic, steel against fang, light against shadow. The smell of blood mixed with the crackling of energy in the air.

As the chaos deepened, cries of warriors rose above the din.

"The east wall is falling!" someone yelled.

Li Cheng raised his spear and surged forward like a streak of lightning. "Reinforce the eastern sector! Don't let them breach the wall!"

From the command tower, Qian Ran, a calm, robed man with a solemn expression, turned to the communication orb glowing beside him. "Send word to the Immortal Grandmaster — the situation is critical."

"Message sent," replied his aide.

Moments later, a voice resonated through the city — deep, calm, and commanding.

> "Qian Ran, stand strong. Hold your ground. Reinforcements are on the way."

The orb dimmed, but hope flickered in their hearts.

The battle intensified. The beasts hurled themselves at the barrier like a living tsunami. Cracks began to spread across the shimmering wall of light. Li Cheng gritted his teeth. "It won't hold much longer..."

"Prepare the Dragonfire Cannon!" Zi Long ordered.

In moments, the massive weapon atop the city tower roared to life. Flames spiraled within its core, gathering into a sphere of blinding heat.

"Fire!"

The cannon's beam cut through the air like divine judgment, erasing the front ranks of the beast horde in a single blast. When the smoke cleared, the once-roaring tide was silent. Nothing remained — not even a trace of ash.

The city walls glowed faintly under the fading sunlight.

Wudong City, proud and unyielding, stood as the most powerful stronghold in the entire Eastern Yin Province — the only first-rate city within its borders.

But deep within the Kyushu Forest, something ancient stirr
