Lilian was back in her office.
She closed the door behind her and leaned against it for a moment, letting out a slow breath.
Then, a smug smirk spread across her face.
"This is so hilarious. Cassandra Drayke is really simple to fool. Who would have known that?" Lilian muttered to herself, shaking her head in amusement.
Afterwards, she walked toward her desk, the smug smile still plastered on her face as her mind reeled with some thoughts:
"She actually believed I was being sincere.... am I that great of an actor?"
"Uhmm... And she looked so hopeful. So relieved. Like a lovesick puppy. What a joke!" Lilian chuckled quietly at that thought.
But then, something shifted at that moment.
Her smile faltered slightly and she noticed her heartbeat... It was racing. Fast and erratic.
"Why is my heart beating so fast?" Lilian wondered aloud as she pressed a hand to her chest, in an attempt to steady her breathing. But it was futile.
