Chapter 99 - Corrupted Spirits

Crackakaka!

Cree~

Boom!

The ice on the ground exploded outwards like shrapnel from a grenade, putting a dozen or so holes into the dome of ice around the spirit realm portal.

'Destroy!'

'Wreck havoc!'

The voice of Vaatu corrupted and infected the spirits' minds, turning them into mindless beasts as the voice corroded away at their own thoughts like paper catching fire.

Swoosh!

A blue blur shot towards the dome, leaving the others behind without reacting due to the speed. Norrak dashed through the air, spinning before drilling through the ice dome harder than steel.

Boom!

The spirits looked up in shock at the sudden appearance of Norrak. His waist, almost to cosmic levels of Chi, surged forward, pressing the ground and ice under him flat, with the spirits pinned to the ground, unable to lift a finger.

Half of their bodies were already corrupted, changing from a light blue to a dark red, with wisps of dark spiritual energy drifting from them. The drifting energy coiled around them in an unbreakable cycle until their wills gave in to Vaatu.

Norrak looked at them, his glasses floating beside his head as his white hair flowed in the breeze. In less than a second, he analysed everything wrong wiht them, and waved his hand.

"Spirit Bending," Muttering under his breath, an intense glow appeared inside the dome, causing every spirit there to let out a cry of pain as the red side struggled to fight back, but it was useless.

Norrak used his robotic precision to annihilate every single influence of Vaatu inside their bodies with spirit-bending. Spirit Bending is a branch of waterbending, so he was already more skilled in this bending style than every other bender in existence.

GRAWWW!

"Hmm?" Norrka raised his eyebrows in surprise as a sonic shockwave drifted off from the spirits, a distorted scream echoing in the dome before it faded away with the wind.

Bang!

Every spirit inside the doom fell to the ground in exhaustion, their spirits healed but strained from being corrupted. They barely lifted their heads, appreciation and thanks in their eyes as they looked at Norrak floating in the air.

"You're welcome, you popsicles~, now make sure to go back home and far from this place," Norrak chuckled as he placed his glasses back on, his feet touching the ice with a quiet thud as he fell from the air.

Boom!

The ice dome burst apart as Katara waved her hand sideways, creating a breach that allowed them to enter. The spirits immediately scattered away from the place, vanishing as they entered the spirit realm.

"Is everything alright? You just suddenly ran away without saying anything," Katara stepped forward wiht worry, her palm resting on Norrak's chest to check for any injuries.

"Man, I never saw a spirit except for the Owl man before, but they sure ran away as soon as they saw us." Ty Lee watched the scurrying spirits with awe in her eyes before crossing her arms in disappointment at not getting to properly see them.

"They must have gotten scared due to the Chi of Katara and Azula. I heard spirits are extremely sensitive to Chi," Mai walked behind Ty Lee before speaking, and she put a thumb on her chin as she spoke.

"Tch! So they were scared away due to our power? Weaklings. Anyway, did you take care of everything needed here?" Azula walked past Ty Lee and Mai, a tiny grin on her face as she spoke to Norrak, pleased at scaring the spirits.

"Hmm? You guys finally arrived, took a while. Everything is fine, I took care of it. The only thing left is to actually enter the spirit realm and beat that guy's ass," Norrak chuckled wiht a confident smirk, not an ounce of worry on his face, causing Katara to sigh.

"You know, even though you might be the strongest, it never hurts to be cautious, even if it's just for us. After all, you have people that actually worry about you," Katara said with a strict tone, her eyes filled wiht annoyance as she reached for Norrak's ears, her finger pinching it tightly.

"Ow! Ow! I get it, I am sorry for being too strong, sexy and confident!" Norrak smirked with amusement as he pretended that Katara's finger pinches hurt. Katara sighed, the annoyance fading away, replaced wiht an amused smile of her own.

"Well, can't deny all that~," Katar muttered before letting go.

Norrak smiled at Katara before looking down at the glowing ice under his foot. He crouched down, placing his palm on top of the ice, while everyone gathered around him in a circle.

"Well, this is a job for Katara since she needs to enter the Avatar state to unlock the portal." Norrak stood up with a shrug as he pulled Katara into the centre of the circle, before taking her previous place.

"The Avatar state? Wouldn't that make me tired before the fight with Vaatu even began?" Katara raised an eyebrow at Norrak, worry in her tone. She could enter the Avatar state at will now, but it drains her energy at a rapid rate, leaving her slightly weakened after she exits the state.

"Sure, it will, but I am here, so there is no problem," Norrak replied with a reassuring tone, and Katar nodded before closing her eyes. A second later, an intense flash of light burst forth from her eyesockets, and a blue outline appeared around her body.

Boom!

Katara slammed her palm onto the ice, and everyone watched as a brilliant burst of light shot out from the surface, breaking through the dome and shooting into the sky like a beacon.

"Whoa... It's freaking beautiful!"

"It really is,"

"This Queen also finds this mildly beautiful,"

Ty Lee watched wiht wide eyes as the sky turned green, the beam splitting when it reached the clouds. Mai's eyes twinkled in awe, while even Azula herself was quite captivated by it.

Meanwhile, outside the frozen forest, Toph looked up, sensing a massive surge of energy. Too bad she was blind and couldn't see it; she would have loved the sight, especially since it was her first time experiencing such a phenomenon.

Norrak's joy faded as a serious look appeared on his face. Regarding Toph's blindness, he probably could heal her right now since his skill in healing has improved massively since meeting her.

Most importantly, he now knows why Toph is blind.

"Well, since Katara had opened the realm, there is nothing else left for us but to go inside and fight the evils that await us." Norrak watched as the shower of light split open. Katara walked out of the beam of light before exiting her Avatar state.

"Everyone ready?" Norrak asked as he touched the beam of light, watching as it flowed between his fingers.

"Yeah, yeah. Let's get going! I wanna fight some spirits~," Azula stomped forward with eagerness, walking past Norrak and walking straight into the light beam.

"She's eager, huh?"
