Chapter 24 - Training {1}

Training {1}

In the morning inside the training grounds Four selected students for the Magusveil magic tournament: Eliana Falric Alina Rosvel, Ceriyan Strowale and Eldric Wynterfell stood in front of him as star instructor Stefan Wellmate stood calmly and said with a sharp voice,

Now, as you all four are aware, you are selected for the Magusveil magic tournament today. I begin your training, so prepare yourselves, and your training is not happening here; your training is happening in the arena instead. 'Arena?' all four said loudly. 'Yes,' Stefan said, 'so let's begin right away.'

Inside the Arena

As Stefan raised his hand, the training arena trembled as ancient runes awakened beneath the floor and rose from the ground, runic pillars sealed by layered mana barriers forming a colossal circular battlefield.

Hands behind his back Stefan stood at the centre with his overwhelming presence; before him stood Eliana Falric, steady breath, calm eyes, and pure mana control. Alina Rosvel, with her sharp gaze at her fingertips, flames flickering unconsciously, ceriyan Strowale around his boots, wind rippling, relaxed posture, and Eldric Wynterfell, composed and silent, along his aura frost crawling faintly.

Stefan's voice echoed. The Magusveil tournament is a place where a bit of hesitation costs you your life as Stefan Flick his finger, and illusory battle constructs from the Arena floor erupt, forged of condensed mana armoured beasts. Stefan said calmly, 'Battle is not about who strikes harder; it's about who survives longer. This is to test your individual combat.'

At Eliana's A beast lunged; she didn't retreat. Clean, circular, perfect – her mana flowed flawlessly in her palm. A compressed mana blade formed in one precise motion slashed into a light-dispersing construct that split apart. Stefan once nodded and said, 'Good accuracy over access.'

Three monsters rushed Alina at once. Alina's eyes burnt with anger, and she said, 'Ooh, interesting. Then I need to burn all three of you.' As she raised her palm, fire erupted – not a controlled spiral of crimson flames but a wild one. The heat wrapped the air. The monsters melted mid-charge, but slightly Alina staggered. Stefan said coldly to Alina, 'Your power is fierce, but you let your emotions lead your mana. Fix it, or one day your crimson flames will consume you.' Her jaw tightened; she nodded.

Meanwhile, in a rush of wind, Ceriyan vanished; he stood still for one moment, and the next, the battlefield exploded with sonic booms. Blades made of compressed air sliced monsters from all directions; they didn't get the chance to even touch the ground. Stefan's eyes narrowed, and then he said, 'Speed is quite interesting, fellow, but without awareness it's suicide. You move fast, but didn't you see it? I guess not.' Ceriyan's smile faded for the first time.

A towering monster charged Eldric, but he didn't dodge. From his feet, frost spread like living crystal suspended in absolute zero. The monster froze mid-step as Eldric raised his hand slowly. Shatter. The frozen monster collapsed into glittering shards. The temperature of the arena dropped sharply. Stefan smiled and said, 'This is also quite interesting cloud control, but your heart is quite frozen. Will can break now then.' As Stefan flicked his finger, he said, 'Shall we make this more interesting?'

The ground split in half, and a colossal dual-core battle monster twice the size of the others rose. 'Is not that a bit too much?' Eldric said. 'Listen carefully, don't be scared. This is to test our team. We will defeat that monster together. Get ready,' Ceriyan said and raised his wand. The Ceriyan wind launched Eliana into the air. Eliana's mana blade pierced the monster's core. Alian's flames erupted inside the core. Eldric's ice sealed the explosion within in a storm of fire, frost and pure mana. The monster shattered silence; all four followed, breathing hard and exhausted yet standing.

Stefan stepped forward and said, 'You are not worriers or champions, but today you stopped being children. I am impressed. From tomorrow onwards this training will continue or even become harder, so prepare yourselves. And one more thing: don't push yourselves too hard, and then I will take my leave.'

Stefan thinking the tournament is only a few, they have quite a talent; they perform well in the tournament indefinitely. And it is also that the four kings of the four major attending Magusveil magic tournaments and the security are going to be tightened, and three priests of the Church of the Broken Saint – this is quite bothersome. I need to take a rest.
