[Several moons later]
The soft golden light of the light bulb bathed the hallway of the Royal Palace, illuminating its golden painted walls and bringing out their color. The rows of suits of armor that stood at each side of the walls reflected the light, glistening like newly polished silver.
The sound of heels hitting the floor as hurried steps made their way towards the end of the hallway, where the palace's library was located.
Her delicate arms were bare, showing her beautiful light brown skin. It was closer to coloured beige. However, it was still dark enough to be called a shade of light brown.
Her beautiful golden earrings, shaped in the likeness of rings, encrusted with small diamonds, swayed back and forth with every hurried step she took, each swaying in sync with the sound of her heels touching the marble floors of the palace.
Beautiful golden eyes glistened at the light. However, her scowled eyebrows showed that she was not in a particularly generous mood. Despite her scowl, her beautiful features seemed to be amplified by the look, as if the scowl was the natural state of her stunning face.
Her wavy dark hair flowed down her shoulders, bouncing as she took each step, its colour vibrant and dark like the night sky itself, the light reflected off its silky surface creating a sheen that resembled a string of stars, finishing the hair's resemblance to the night sky.
Her dress is a beautiful deep maroon with golden accents that contrasted well with the overall color of the dress
By All accounts Princess Judith Heather Marietta Lionheart, was a woman of stunning beauty that many men have lauded her for, it's not only that but she was blessed with a beautiful slender body, long legs and petite breasts.
To add to that beauty, Judith wore several pieces of jewelry, her neck hugged by several gold and silver necklaces, each with varying blue and red gems as their centerpieces.
The majority of her fingers carried plentiful rings, all made from gold, some with diamonds, and others were plain silver.
It was not just jewelry, but a few of the necklaces and rings were magic items meant to protect her from harm. She gave off the look of a rich aristocrat flaunting her wealth, but despite such a look, she was safe from harm.
The Princess reached the doors that led into the library, and with the grace and poise worthy of a princess, she pushed them open and revealed the inner parts of the library. high shelves stacked with a variety of books, each carrying different forms of knowledge.
"Esme! I know you're here!"
She shouted, her beautiful and sing-song voice breaking through the serene layer of silence that had blanketed the room and disturbed the cozy atmosphere.
There was the thump of a book falling, followed by the yelp of a startled woman. This was then followed by hurried steps before a woman came out from behind the shelves.
"Yes Princess?"
The woman called Esme asked, her magnificent emerald coloured eyes eyeing the princess with caution and apprehension. Esme maintained a distance of about three meters.
Judith walked towards Esme quickly closing the distance, her scowl having changed to an angry expression, one that promised punishment for the crime done to her.
"Where did you get the liver to take my things"
A slap struck the face of the young woman. She yelped out in pain as she stepped back and shrunk into her form, trying to appear as non-threatening as possible.
"I didn't tak–"
She tried to speak, to say something to defend herself. However, the princess did not want to hear it. Her soft and beautiful hand that had beautifully light red painted nails struck Esme's face once more.
"I don't want to hear your lies, commoner! Where have you taken my special earrings? I have an important meeting this afternoon!"
She shouted the question, Judith had plenty of jewelry, both gifted to her by her parents and various men who were interested, however she also had black diamond earrings that she treasured above all else and ones she wore during special occasions.
Faced with such anger, Esme held off speaking, both afraid of being slapped again but also because she could not answer a question she had no answers to.
Judith was being wholly unreasonable, but Esme was used to that. As a commoner, she was used to the unreasonableness of her eldest sister.
"I apologise, princess, but I don't know. Did you ask Marrianne? She–"
"Do not lie to me, Esme! Why would Marianne take my earrings when she has her own jewelry"
Judith stated, her voice rising slightly in aggression before she pulled on Esme's ear while also pinching it hard. Esme didn't retaliate nor try to free herself from her sister's grasp. She simply endured the pain, barely letting out a squeal. She was used to this, and she was the one person who had dealt with the unreasonableness of her sisters the most.
"The maids! ask the maids, only they would know where your earrings went"
She said, keeping her tone calm. If she had made an argument about never having jewelry in the first place, Judith would have twisted her words and told her she had the motive to steal.
It was true that Esme was always jealous of how beautiful Judith looked when adorned with all the jewelry, the earrings, the necklaces and the bracelets, like a beautiful doll adorned with precious and expensive treasures however Esme already knew how it would end If she ever tried to steal anything so it was better to just not even try or even ask.
The only jewelry Esme had was a necklace that her mother had given to her before she died. That was the only piece of jewelry she owned.
Esme tried her best to ignore the stinging pain in her ear and hoped that her words would convince her unreasonable sister to think, rather than just put blame on her.
"Those filthy commoners! of course, they would steal my things, as if they don't get paid enough already"
Judith concluded that before she let go of Esme's ear, she turned on her heel and exited the library without so much as offering an apology.
Esme watched her leave and couldn't help but let out an exasperated sigh. Now she got the maids in trouble. Hopefully, they'll be more understanding when she explains that she didn't lie about them.
She did not have many friends in the castle, and being hated by the maids would make things very difficult.[Several moons later]
