As her puzzled words left her lips, Bibi Dong's exquisite eyes were filled with endless contemplation.
Inside the wooden tub, her snow-white skin, as silky and flawless as fine silk, soaked in water. Her wine-red hair fell in natural waves, droplets clinging to her perfect curves, accentuating every line of her body. Her proud assets were displayed to their absolute peak.
"Splash!"
The tall, stunning beauty lifted a spray of water, stepping gracefully from the tub with smooth, lotus-like movements. She wrapped a golden, plush towel around her hair while the puzzling thoughts in her mind deepened.
"This isn't the first time, is it?" Bibi Dong thought to herself.
She had noticed this detail long ago: even though she bathed clean before sleeping at night, by morning faint sweat marks would appear, and her body would feel subtly fatigued.
Her slender, beautiful phoenix eyes shifted in thought, becoming deep and unfathomable.
Tianshui City
Su Yaoyun did not enter through the main gate. Using her spiritual power to form a barrier, she stealthily carried the Three-Eyed Jin Ni all the way back to the school.
"Bang!"
She tossed the unconscious Three-Eyed Jin Ni into Shen Linghan's room.
At that moment, Shen Linghan, disguised as an old woman, was meditating with eyes closed. Seeing the spirit beast dumped on the floor, she was startled and asked, "What are you doing?"
Su Yaoyun said, "You recognize this thing, right? You're about to undergo a tribulation, so borrow it for now. I'll take it back later. I'm delivering it to someone else."
Shen Linghan immediately recognized the Imperial Auspicious Beast and knew its purpose. Surprised, she asked, "Where did you even get this thing?"
Su Yaoyun's face reflected lingering fear: "Don't ask. I almost lost myself trying to bring it back."
"What happened?" Shen Linghan noticed Su Yaoyun's disheveled clothes and hovering aura, her blue crystalline eyes shooting a cold light.
Su Yaoyun waved her hand: "I'll tell you next time. I have to go. Keep an eye on this spirit beast and don't lose it; I've already reserved its soul rings and soul bones."
Before Shen Linghan could reply, Su Yaoyun had already vanished from the room.
"What's she rushing off to?" a clear, cool, and lovely voice questioned inside the room.
Su Yaoyun left Shen Linghan's quarters in a hurry, racing toward Luo Yu's residence—but the door was wide open and the place empty. The man had vanished.
"Huh? Where is he?"
The hopeful joy on Su Yaoyun's face immediately faded. Her beautiful eyes showed a deep sense of loss, and her soft, sorrowful voice called out:
"Little man, where are you wandering off to so early? I was thinking about you…"
Meanwhile, Luo Yu wandered aimlessly through a desolate wilderness. Everywhere he looked were barren lands overgrown with weeds. There was no main road, no signs of life—no way to determine direction.
Looking up at the sky, clear and washed in blue, his handsome lips twitched. There was nothing around—no landmarks to navigate by.
Last night he had followed the ripples of battle, and now he couldn't recall the path he had taken.
Even if he could distinguish north, south, east, and west, he had no way of knowing his current position.
"Forget it, I'll just pick a direction and keep going," he decided.
"Eventually, I'll reach a town, buy a map, hire a carriage, and find my way home."
Choosing a direction at random, he pressed forward swiftly.
Half a day later:
"Why does this road feel like it's getting more and more desolate?"
Luo Yu suspected he had won a "get lost" lottery. At his current pace, even a carriage wouldn't beat him—but after half a day, there wasn't even a shadow of a town in sight. The odds seemed impossibly low.
"Wasn't it said that wandering the wilderness could get you robbed? Come on, show up and hold me up!"
"If you don't appear, how can we have a story?"
"Who's going to guide me?"
Stepping on the loose gravel, Luo Yu kept muttering to himself.
The feeling of being lost was unbearable. What made it worse was his stomach protesting. In Tianshui, he was never denied—every day, girls had lovingly prepared meals for him.
The more desolate the landscape became, the more he considered changing direction—but he hesitated. If he kept going straight, maybe just a couple more miles and he'd reach a village. Changing direction could mean walking even farther with nothing to show for it.
As dusk fell, stars glittered in the night sky above the land.
Luo Yu's eyes were red—not from crying, but from frustration. He had been walking all day, confident he was going straight, yet still hadn't seen a single village. It was unfair.
"Even if towns on Douluo Continent aren't densely built, it shouldn't be this empty."
A cold wind swept through the hills. Luo Yu licked his dry lips. His tall figure, buffeted by the evening breeze, looked lonely and desolate.
"I just did a good deed, and this is my reward? Life's so cruel."
The terrain began to rise. Just as Luo Yu was about to abandon his straight path and change direction, a small town appeared faintly in the distance.
"Huh?"
Joy instantly lit up his face. His protesting stomach urged him on. He activated his soul power to propel himself straight toward the town.
As he entered, he hadn't even found a restaurant to feast when an eerie feeling hit him.
The townsfolk on the streets were all emaciated, their faces grotesque, radiating a chilling aura.
"Strange… Where are the old and young? No street vendors either?"
He approached a middle-aged man with a bushy beard. "Hello, may I ask what territory this is? Which country does it belong to?"
The man stared blankly, paused, then shot Luo Yu a strange glance and walked away without a word.
After asking several others with the same result, Luo Yu was certain: something was off.
At the end of the street, he spotted a small tavern.
The sign looked ancient, weathered by time, fragile in the wind. The characters were faded and difficult to read.
Squinting, he barely made out one character:
"亡?" (Death?)
"What kind of tavern uses 'death' in its name? Are they even in business?"
"This place is weird."
But since he was here, he had no choice but to investigate.
He pushed open the creaking wooden door.
Immediately, a piercing chill wafted from the room through the door crack.
