High above the dense canopy of the Star Dou Great Forest, a man in a flowing green robe concealed himself, ignoring the clamor from the forest below as he gazed up at the sky.
His ethereal, handsome face was now dark with anger, flushed with frustration.
Luo Yu possessed a pair of Divine Eyes, allowing him to see the night as clearly as day. This meant he had detected the forest's disturbances early and could avoid agitated Soul Beasts in time.
With danger avoided for now, he soon realized he had unknowingly lost his way. Originally, he could have navigated using the Star Dou observations, but the sky was now obscured by dark clouds.
Watching the treetops sway in the wind, Luo Yu's expression lightened slightly. If the wind continued, the clouds would pass soon enough, giving him a brief respite.
Perched in the canopy, he had no intention of moving recklessly. Leaning against a thick branch, he relaxed his body to recuperate while keeping his mind alert, constantly scanning for disturbances.
"Boom!"
A thunderous explosion sounded from the distance. Luo Yu immediately sprang to attention. In the sky, a golden chrysanthemum clashed with a massive brown fist, detonating in a violent explosion that rippled through the air.
"Heh."
Luo Yu began to smirk. Now he finally understood why the Star Dou Great Forest had been so lively tonight. He had been tricked by that old chrysanthemum.
Could it be that this person was here to hunt Soul Beasts?
Surely, Bi Bi Dong couldn't have come too…?
Luo Yu doubted it, but also considered it unlikely.
Even so, he wasn't about to wander off to watch the commotion unless he was truly out of his mind. Looking up, he saw no starlight and had no choice but to hide in the treetops and wait.
"Swish, swish." Accompanied by wild beast roars, movement grew closer.
"Someone's coming?"
A sharp light flared in Luo Yu's eyes as he crouched and concealed himself in the treetops, suppressing his aura while observing.
Three figures leapt from the grass, each radiating distinct Soul Light, followed by four ferocious Soul Beasts. Each of their auras was formidable.
"Why are they the three of them?" Luo Yu frowned in confusion.
Yan was shrouded in red flames, his crimson hair dancing in the fire, four Soul Rings—yellow, yellow, purple, purple—floating nearby, eyes wide with alarm.
Tall, imposing Xie Yue wore a stern expression, wielding two supernatural blades shaped like crescent moons, blood-red in their entirety, also surrounded by four Soul Rings.
The graceful beauty Hu Liena appeared anxious, pink spiritual energy swirling around her. With her Martial Soul activated, a fluffy, alluring fox tail extended from her back, exuding both mystery and charm.
Luo Yu noticed their clothes were tattered, and Hu Liena's face was streaked with dirt. It seemed the four ferocious Soul Beasts had been chasing them relentlessly, cornering them at this location.
"Tch, talk about bad luck."
Luo Yu also recognized the Soul Beasts surrounding them.
A bloodthirsty demon bear over four meters tall swung its claws, its chest fur glowing with a sanguine light.
A rampaging quadruped thundered forward, atop it a rhinoceros with three massive, razor-sharp horns—the Heavenly Howl Silver-Eyed Rhino—and a fanged, fiery blue wolf.
Most bizarre of all was a blue-black Tiger Demon Cat, its body exuding wind and darkness simultaneously, a pair of purple eyes flickering with an eerie, almost human intelligence.
Shaking his head, Luo Yu thought that if nothing unusual happened, this Martial Soul Hall team was doomed.
Even the weakest of the four Soul Beasts had power comparable to a Soul King. That Tiger Demon Cat had to be at least ten thousand years old, likely at the Soul Emperor level—not a threat they could handle.
Below, a chaotic battle had erupted. The three Martial Soul Hall members naturally fought back, exchanging attacks with the three main Soul Beasts. Light and colors danced violently through the forest as Soul Techniques were unleashed.
Luo Yu hid in the treetops, watching silently as the Martial Soul Hall group fell into a disadvantage without offering any assistance.
It wasn't cold-blooded indifference. Firstly, the two sides were strangers with no bonds; secondly, Luo Yu had already seen the red-haired youth's temper in the restaurant.
He feared that intervening might result in betrayal, a knife in the back from jealousy—something no one could afford.
Though he hadn't experienced nine years of formal education, Luo Yu had heard the stories of the Farmer and the Snake, and Mr. Dongguo and the Wolf.
Alas, it was a pity for Hu Liena; upon first meeting, she seemed quite decent.
Luo Yu felt some regret, but nothing more. He couldn't be sure of her temperament, and acting on goodwill in the forest could be fatal—especially since the forest's chaos might well have been triggered by them.
"Boom!"
From below came a thunderous sound. Xie Yue wielded the crescent blades against the Bloodthirsty Demon Bear, while Hu Liena and Yan engaged the Heavenly Howl Silver-Eyed Rhino and the Fiery Blue Wolf respectively. The strongest Soul Beast, the Tiger Demon Cat, slinked in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
The three Martial Soul Hall members, being the Golden Generation, had the capability to fight above their level, using Soul Techniques against the three main Soul Beasts in a back-and-forth clash. Yet they could not withstand the Tiger Demon Cat's repeated ambushes.
Each flash of its evil purple eyes marked an opportunity to strike. Scratch marks multiplied, crimson blood oozing out. Hu Liena suffered the least, as the Tiger Demon Cat targeted the strongest, Xie Yue.
"We have to break through!" Hu Liena remained calm despite the danger.
"How?" Xie Yue slashed a cold arc with his blade, but the attack failed, and the Demon Bear struck it, sending him flying.
Yan remained silent, throwing red fireballs toward the Fiery Blue Wolf, his eyes darting as if calculating the best course of action.
Hu Liena signaled a tactical move to the others, pointing toward the weakest, the Fiery Blue Wolf.
Her second Soul Ring glowed, summoning a pink Spirit Fox. The fox's spiritual wave caused all four Soul Beasts to hesitate simultaneously.
Xie Yue and Yan activated their Soul Rings in unison. Xie Yue's crescent blades arced toward the wolf's neck, while Yan unleashed a solid fire beam, piercing its heart.
"Shhh!"
The Tiger Demon Cat freed itself from the Spirit Fox's influence but did not aid the wolf. Slipping into the darkness, its purple eyes flashed ruthlessly as a claw slashed at Xie Yue's chest.
The next moment, the Fiery Blue Wolf's head soared into the sky, its body pierced by Yan's fire beam, blood splattering.
Simultaneously, Xie Yue, finishing his attack, did not anticipate the Tiger Demon Cat's ferocity, managing only to turn slightly—three gaping, bloody wounds torn across his chest.
"Brother!"
"Boss!"
Two shouts rang out. Xie Yue pressed his hand to his chest, glaring at the Tiger Demon Cat, shouting, "I'm fine! You two, be careful."
The Heavenly Howl Silver-Eyed Rhino and the Bloodthirsty Demon Bear, seeing their ally fall, unleashed their ferocity. The Bear's claws radiated blood-red sharpness, and the Rhino's three horns gleamed silver and sharp.
The blood and silver light cut through the air toward Yan and Hu Liena.
Distracted by Xie Yue's injuries, Yan and Hu Liena could only unleash their Soul Power to resist, but due to the strength gap, they coughed blood and were blown away.
Yan skidded far across the ground.
Hu Liena, slammed into a towering tree with a "bang," cracked its trunk, shaking it violently.
"Damn!" Luo Yu cursed silently.
The Rhino and Demon Bear, seeing their attacks succeed, pressed the advantage, leaping toward the fallen Hu Liena and Yan.
Xie Yue attempted to intervene but was blocked by the Tiger Demon Cat's claws.
The Rhino's sharp horns aimed at Hu Liena's fallen, delicate body.
Her beautiful face paled, despair flashing in her eyes, yet she forced her Heavenly Fox Martial Soul to emit a strong pink light wave.
The wave was shattered by the Rhino's forceful charge; pink energy fragments scattered as the Rhino approached relentlessly, its terrifying talent and innate ability on full display.
"Nana!!" Xie Yue roared, yet he could not break through the Tiger Demon Cat's blockade.
Yan, meanwhile, focused entirely on preserving his life.
"Is it over?"
Hu Liena let out a despairing sigh. Her lips pressed together, intending to dodge but already exhausted; after all, she hadn't yet broken forty yet participated in this battle.
Her eyes flickered with sorrow and reluctance, lashes trembling as she prepared to close them and accept her fate.
Just as she teetered on the edge of death—
"Annoying!!"
A frustrated, irritable voice suddenly rang out. Everyone, including Hu Liena, froze.
Then, a dazzling light erupted above the treetops. A scorching golden fist, carrying shattered branches, descended like a flaming meteor, its massive fiery force smashing downward.
