Chapter 93 - The Enthusiastic Owner, A Chance Encounter with Hu Liena

The sky was dimming as the sun sank beyond the horizon.

Luo Yu guided his carriage along the road, eventually arriving at an inn-restaurant located about a hundred li from the Star Dou Forest.

After tying his carriage to the stable post by the side wall, he looked up—and noticed that the restaurant had been repaired since his last visit. Still, the newly patched wall differed slightly in color from the original.

"I'm pretty sure the gold coins I gave the owner were enough for a full renovation… Don't tell me he tried to save money?" Luo Yu shook his head and stepped into the first-floor dining hall.

The floor and tables looked completely new. Considering how the previous fight had wrecked the place, it made sense. This hour was peak business time, and most of the patrons inside wore spirit master attire.

The owner, who was working his abacus behind the counter, spotted the ethereal, scholarly youth in blue robes entering—and his eyes immediately lit up with joy. He rushed forward in quick, eager steps.

"Sir! We meet again!" the owner exclaimed, delighted and deeply grateful.

Luo Yu smiled. "Just passing by. Thought I'd rest at your place for a bit."

"This way, this way! Please, this table!" The owner bowed respectfully and gestured with excessive enthusiasm.

Luo Yu had come alone, intending to choose a small corner table. But the overly warm-hearted owner dragged out a large, spacious table for him instead.

"Sir, do you have any food preferences?"

"Nothing in particular. Just nothing too sweet." Luo Yu was about to pick from the menu when the owner suddenly snatched it away.

Luo Yu blinked. "What are you doing?"

The owner laughed. "Your visit gives my humble shop face! I haven't even properly thanked you for what happened last time. Today's meal is on me!"

Before Luo Yu could refuse, the owner bolted toward the kitchen as if scared he might be stopped.

Luo Yu stared. "But… I didn't even order yet!"

As he was stunned, three handsome young men and women walked in from outside.

The one leading was a tall young man, over one-eighty, his hair short and sharp like steel needles. His face was calm, yet confidence radiated from him without effort.

Flanking him were a man and a woman.

The male had long, flame-red hair flowing down his back; even his irises glowed with a dark crimson hue. Though his appearance was plain, an extraordinary aura surrounded him.

The sole woman of the trio had short, stylish golden hair. Her features somewhat resembled the first young man's—slender eyes carrying a unique charm, her lithe figure exuding a soft, alluring beauty distinct from Su Yaoyun's explosive sensuality.

Their attire was elegant, and their brows carried the self-assured bearing of nobility.

Luo Yu naturally noticed them, but traveling alone, he didn't stare. A few glances using peripheral vision was enough before he calmly sipped the tea placed before him.

"Where's the owner? Owner!" the red-haired man barked as soon as he entered, displeased at seeing no one come to greet them.

"Coming!" The owner hurried out of the kitchen, smiling obsequiously.

"With guests like us walking in, you don't even greet us?" the red-haired man snapped.

The golden-haired woman frowned slightly. "Yan, stop shouting everywhere you go. You'll cause unnecessary trouble."

The fiery youth instantly changed attitudes. "Hehe, right, Nana, you're right. My voice was a bit too loud."

The girl glared at him. "I've said it before—don't call me Nana. Call me Hu Liena."

"That sounds so distant…" Yan muttered—until he saw her expression and swallowed the rest.

Hu Liena ignored him and turned. "Owner, arrange a table for us."

"Of course! Please follow me."

The owner led them to the seating area—right next to Luo Yu, since that was where all the large tables were.

Luo Yu watched them approach, his eyes flashing briefly with understanding. Based on their conversation, he already knew who they were—the Golden Generation of Spirit Hall. But they had nothing to do with him.

After the three ordered, the owner shot Luo Yu another warm smile before hurrying off—only to be stopped mid-run.

"Hey, owner," Yan said, pointing at Luo Yu's table. "Why is that guy sitting alone at a table bigger than the one for the three of us?"

The owner forced a smile. "Sirs, the table you're sitting at is already a five-person table."

"Hmph! But it's still not as big as his, is it? Are you looking down on us?" Yan's spirit power surged, pressing down heavily on the poor owner.

Luo Yu's dark eyes narrowed.

Before he could respond, Hu Liena dispersed Yan's pressure with a flick of her will.

"Go on," she told the owner. "Just serve the dishes as ordered."

The owner exhaled in relief and slipped away.

Hu Liena shot Yan a sharp look. "It's just a table. Why do you love picking fights with small people?"

Yan grumbled, "He clearly gave that lone wolf a better spot than us."

Hu Liena's beautiful eyes turned serious. "Yan, don't be so petty. With our talent, we'll hold high positions in Spirit Hall. If you nitpick over every trivial thing, how will you ever lead subordinates in the future?"

Yan countered, "If we're the ones in high positions, people should know better than to offend us."

"Yan," she said, shaking her head in disappointment, "the people are the foundation. You still don't understand the meaning—and responsibility—of authority."

He turned to the short-haired man. "Evil Moon, say something!"

Xie Yue replied smoothly, "Don't ask me. My little sister has better sense."

Luo Yu chuckled silently.

These three from Spirit Hall were quite interesting.

Yan—reckless, brain-first-into-trouble type, and far less mature than the girl.

Xie Yue—calm, few words, hard to read for now.

Hu Liena—surprisingly sharp-minded and carrying her own unique charm.

Soon, the kitchen began delivering dishes—one after another—until Luo Yu's massive table was packed with colorful, fragrant plates.

Luo Yu stared, dumbfounded.

Did he… order all this?

No way.

Naturally, this caught the attention of the trio. Yan glanced at their own few dishes—fine just a moment ago—but now suddenly dull in comparison.

"Owner!" Luo Yu called out.

Hu Liena, hearing the magnetic voice, instinctively turned—and her gaze landed on an impossibly handsome, ethereal face. Even she, accustomed to meeting geniuses daily in Spirit Hall, froze in surprise.

This guy was ridiculously good-looking.

"What is it, sir?" the owner asked.

"These dishes?" Luo Yu hesitated.

"These are all our specialty dishes! I didn't know which you'd prefer, so I brought all of them for you to try!"

"…I can't finish all this. Isn't it wasteful?"

The owner waved repeatedly. "No worries! As long as sir enjoys it."

Then he pulled out a pouch and placed it on the table. "Sir, this is the leftover money from the renovation. Fixing the place didn't cost nearly as much as you gave me. I couldn't keep the excess, so I saved it until you returned."

Luo Yu blinked, finally understanding why the exterior wall was only patched and not fully redone.

It wasn't stinginess—

He'd been waiting to return the money.

Hu Liena watched curiously. Hearing their conversation, she was shocked. She'd met countless civilians who feared spirit masters, but never one who treated a spirit master with such heartfelt gratitude and admiration.

This Luo Yu was… unusual.

But perspectives differ depending on who's looking.

Yan saw only insult and inequality. His expression darkened as if someone had stepped on his pride. With a "bang," he slammed the table and stood up.
