"Oh," Jian Ci said, the single syllable heavy. From that alone, he could tell Yu Xi didn't remember what had happened last night otherwise he would mention it.
He awkwardly scratched the back of his head as he followed Yu Xi into the kitchen. "You could have messaged me. I thought you were gone."
Yu Xi glanced back, his expression softening. "You were sleeping so well. I just didn't want to wake you up."
The words eased Jian Ci's panic, but only slightly. His heart was still racing, torn between relief and the ache of knowing Yu Xi had no memory of the moment he couldn't forget.
Jian Ci pursed his lips, watching Yu Xi carefully plate the porridge for them. His head throbbed, the hangover still clawing at him. "My head hurts so much," he muttered.
